Tyro is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located 7 miles (11 km) west of Lexington and 24 miles (39 km) south of Winston-Salem in Davidson County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2020 census, the community had a population of 8,926.

St. Luke's Lutheran Church Cemetery, also known as Sandy Creek Cemetery, is a historic church cemetery located near Tyro, Davidson County, North Carolina. It is associated with the St. Luke's Lutheran Church, founded in 1790 as Swicegood Meeting House. It contains approximately 300 burials, with the earliest gravestone dated to 1804. It features a unique collection of folk gravestones by local stonecutters erected in Davidson County in the late-18th and first half of the 19th centuries.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Capt. John Koonts Jr. Farm is a historic home and farm complex located near Tyro, Davidson County, North Carolina. The house was built about 1870, and consists of a two-story, hexagonal Italianate Revival style central section with three Greek Revival style one-story wings in a "Y"-plan. Also on the property are a double pen log barn, a log corn crib, a log granary, and a frame well house.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Yadkin College is a census-designated place (CDP) in rural Davidson County, North Carolina, United States, located 9 miles (14 km) northwest of Lexington. Contrary to its name, it is not part of Yadkin County. Yadkin College is named for the college of the same name that operated there from 1857 to 1895, which was in turn named after the Yadkin River that runs alongside the village. The Yadkin College Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.The latitude of Yadkin College is 35.872N. The longitude is -80.375W. The ZIP code is 27295. It first appeared as a CDP in the 2020 Census with a population of 377.

Yadkin College was a college founded in 1857 by the Methodist Protestant Church. It was located in rural Davidson County, North Carolina and named for the nearby Yadkin River. High Point University serves as the successor to Yadkin College. The founders hoped the rural setting would prevent the "sinfulness" often displayed by college students. The location proved the college's undoing, however – in 1883 the college became an academy, or prep school and operated in that capacity until sometime in the 1890s when for a few years it achieved junior college status. In 1898 it again became a high school, renamed the Yadkin Collegiate Institute. The rise of public high schools after the turn of the 20th century led to the closing of the Institute in 1924. The unincorporated village of Yadkin College still exists near the ruins of the institution. Its former buildings are included in the Yadkin College Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Yadkin College Historic District is a national historic district located at Yadkin College, Davidson County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 38 contributing buildings, 4 contributing sites, and 5 contributing structures in the village of Yadkin College. The contributing buildings include the 1856 Yadkin College building, one antebellum house, 11 houses built between about 1870 and 1890, and the Yadkin College Methodist Protestant Church (1886). The sites are the Yadkin College Cemetery, the site of the 1881 Yadkin College building, site of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and site of the post office, blacksmith shop and jail. The structures are traditional wells and corn cribs.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
