Beallmont

Spencer Yard aka Linwood Yard is one of the largest classification railroad yards in North Carolina. It is also one of the remaining hump yards in North America, which are steadily being eliminated. The yard is operated by Norfolk Southern Railway (NS). The yard is located 8 miles (13 km) north of Salisbury, and 3 miles (4.8 km) north of Spencer, off Interstate 85 in Davidson County, west of Linwood. The yard is on the edge of the NS Charlotte District and Danville District, and the Asheville District is nearby in Salisbury.

Linwood is a small unincorporated community (ZIP Code 27299) just south of Lexington in Davidson County, North Carolina, United States. The area contains operations of several important companies in Davidson County, including Keply Hardwood, Legget-Platt, PPG Industries, LMI Builders, and Halyard Health. Three major transportation systems serve the area: Interstate 85, the Davidson County Airport, and Norfolk Southern Railway's Spencer classification yard. Linwood was named for the nearby plantation of William Rainey Holt (1798-1868), a physician and early innovator in farming techniques. Part of the community (mainly the area industries) has been annexed by the city of Lexington. Public High Schools that have districts that are in Linwood are Central Davidson High School and West Davidson High School. Beallmont, Jersey Baptist Church Cemetery, and Jersey Settlement Meeting House are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Haden Place is a historic home located near Tyro, Davidson County, North Carolina. It was built between about 1800 and 1820, and is a two-story, three bay by two bay, transitional Late Federal / Greek Revival style frame dwelling. Also on the property is a contributing family cemetery dated to the 1820s.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Lakeview is an unincorporated community in Davidson County, North Carolina, United States. The community is located along Interstate 85 at the North Carolina Highway 150 exit, 8.8 miles (14.2 km) southwest of Lexington.

Jersey Baptist Church Cemetery is a historic church cemetery located on SR 1272 in Linwood, Davidson County, North Carolina. The church was founded in 1755, and the current Jersey Settlement Meeting House was built nearby in 1842. The cemetery contains approximately 50 burials, with the earliest gravestone dated to 1772. It features a unique collection of folk gravestones by local stonecutters erected in Davidson County in the late-18th and first half of the 19th centuries.The cemetery was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Jersey Settlement Meeting House, also known as Jersey Baptist Church, is a historic church and meeting house located near Linwood, Davidson County, North Carolina. The Baptist congregation was founded around 1755 by settlers from New Jersey. Among them was Benjamin Merrill, a local leader in the Regulator movement from 1765 to 1771, who was captured and executed following the Battle of Alamance.The current Greek Revival church meeting house was built in 1842 near the Jersey Baptist Church Cemetery. It is a rectangular gable-front brick building, four bays long and two bays wide. A belfry was added in 1897-1899 and a portico in 1945.The meeting house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Davidson County Solar Farm is a 17.2 megawatt solar power station located in the heart of North Carolina, near the community of Linwood. SunEdison built the array of photovoltaic panels, and Duke Energy buys all the output from the solar farm. The solar farm is located on North Carolina Highway 47, off New Jersey Church Road.

Davidson County Airport (ICAO: KEXX, FAA LID: EXX) is a public use airport in Davidson County, North Carolina, United States. It is owned by the Davidson County Airport Authority and located three nautical miles (6 km) southwest of the central business district of Lexington, North Carolina. It is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a general aviation facility.Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, this airport is assigned EXX by the FAA, but has no designation from the IATA.

The Buck Steam Station is a 369-MW formerly coal-fired electrical power plant, owned by Duke Energy. There are also three natural gas-fueled combustion turbines at the location that provide an additional 93 MW (and which began operation in 1970), and two natural gas-fueled combined cycle turbines are planned for the near future. Remaining coal-fired units (IDs 5-9) were decommissioned in mid-2011 and April 2013, with only natural gas units (11C and 12C) remaining.

Dukeville is a populated place in Rowan County, North Carolina, United States. It was built as a mill village along the banks of the Yadkin River in 1926 to house plant employees of the Buck Steam Station, owned by Duke Energy.In 2014, residents living near the Buck Steam Station in Dukeville were told that "coal ash pits near their homes could be leaching dangerous materials into groundwater." The issue became a documentary film for the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival.

The Yadkin River Veterans Memorial Bridge is a pair of bridges, each carrying four lanes of I-85/US 52 across the Yadkin River between Rowan and Davidson Counties near Spencer, North Carolina in the United States. The northbound span opened May 5, 2012, and on August 2, 2012, southbound traffic moved to that span as well. A southbound span of the same bridge was completed in October 2012 and opened to traffic in March 2013. The pair of bridges replaces twin spans that carried I-85/US 52 from 1957 to 2012, which were separated by less than 1,000 feet (300 m). Adjacent are two Warren deck trusses carrying the North Carolina Railroad and Norfolk Southern, one bridge carrying US 29/US 70/NC 150, and the historic concrete arch Wil-Cox Bridge.
