Naval Hospital Santa Margarita Ranch was a large US Navy hospital facility in Oceanside, California. Located on Camp Pendleton in Camp Pendleton South, California in San Diego County. Naval Hospital Santa Margarita Ranch was the first naval hospital in the area that opened in 1943 to support World War 2 wounded. Built on Rancho Santa Margarita y Las Flores, near the training Center's Lake O'Neill with 1,228 beds. In 1945 the hospital expanded to 1,584 beds. In 1950 the hospital was renamed Naval Hospital Camp Joseph H. Pendleton, Oceanside. The hospital was renamed a few times before being given its current name, Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, in 1967. The 1943 hospital was built quickly, composed of 76 temporary, wood-frame buildings at first with 600 beds and opened on September 3, 1943. The hospital and support building were on 252 acres. Post war, in 1946 the hospital was reduced to 920 beds. In 1971 construction started on a new eight-story hospital, the new hospital opened in December 1974. The 1974 hospital was replaced with the current hospital in 2014. The site of the original Naval Hospital Santa Margarita Ranch is now: Lake O'Neill Campground, Camp Pendleton Youth Sports, O'Neill Fitness Center, Wounded Warrior Battalion West and the Camp Pendleton Fire Department Station 4.Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, which replaced Naval Hospital Santa Margarita Ranch is the current hospital that operates in a 500,000-square-foot, four-story building that opened on January 31, 2014. The new complex was completed under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on December 2, 2010, and construction completed on October 17, 2013. The hospital is part of the US Military Health System. The hospital has 150 beds and was built under the Naval Facilities Engineering Command. Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton operates branch clinics in the Southern California area. Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton has a 26-bed emergency center, primary care, intensive care, care for active-duty military, veterans and their families. Other services include: nine operating rooms, six imaging rooms, labor and delivery program. The parking structure has a large solar energy system.

Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton or MCAS Camp Pendleton (ICAO: KNFG, FAA LID: NFG) is a United States Marine Corps airfield located within Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California. It was commissioned in 1942 and is currently home to Marine Aircraft Group 39. The airfield is also known as Munn Field in honor of Lieutenant General John C. "Toby" Munn, the first Marine aviator to serve as the Commanding General of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.

The Tomahawk Fire was the second-largest wildfire of the May 2014 San Diego County wildfires, behind the Pulgas Fire. The fire, which started on May 14 around 9:45 AM, on the Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach Detachment Fallbrook (also known as Fallbrook Naval Weapons Station), scorched 5,367 acres (21.72 km2). The Fallbrook Naval Weapons Station is on the eastern side of, and provides an entry point to, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and is adjacent to the community of Fallbrook. Evacuation orders were issued for several schools and housing areas, as well as the Fallbrook Naval Weapons Station and the closed San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. By 8 PM PDT on May 14, the Tomahawk Fire had reached a size of 6,000 acres (2,400 ha). On May 16, the fire had burned 6,300 acres (2,500 ha), and it was 23% contained. By May 17, it had burned 6,500 acres (2,600 ha) and was 65% contained. During the evening of May 18, the fire was reported to be 100% contained.

Rancho Guajome was a 2,219-acre (8.98 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day San Diego County, California given in 1845 by Governor Pío Pico to Andrés and José Manuel, Indians. The name comes from a Luiseño phrase involving the word "frog", likely wakhavumi "frog pond" or waxáawu-may "little frog". The grant was south of San Luis Rey River and Rancho Monserate and north of present-day Vista. The site is now registered as California Historical Landmark #940.

San Luis Rey College was a Franciscan seminary in Oceanside, California, United States. It was located on the site of Mission San Luis Rey de Francia, one of the California missions founded by the Franciscans in 1798. The school had moved from Mission Santa Barbara, headquarters of the Franciscan province, in 1929. In 1950 it became a four-year accredited college. The school closed in 1968 and the seminary was relocated to Berkeley as the Franciscan School of Theology, one of the schools that is a part of the Graduate Theological Union.

Mission San Luis Rey de Francia (Spanish: Misión San Luis Rey de Francia) is a former Spanish mission in San Luis Rey, a neighborhood of Oceanside, California. This Mission lent its name to the Luiseño tribe of Mission Indians. At its prime, Mission San Luis Rey's structures and services compound covered almost 950,400 acres (384,600 ha), making it the largest of the Californian missions, along with its surrounding agricultural land. Multiple outposts were built in support of Mission San Luis Rey and placed under its supervision, including San Antonio de Pala Asistencia in 1816 and Las Flores Estancia in 1823.

Mission Vista High School is a public, comprehensive, dual-magnet high school that is part of the Vista Unified School District and is located in Oceanside, California; it currently serves 1,725 students and has been accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) through 2025.. The school was established in 2009 on the former Washington Middle School campus (now Vista Innovation and Design Academy), but was officialized at its new dedicated campus in early 2011.Mission Vista High School operates on a “4x4” block schedule, in which students are enrolled in eight classes per school year. The year is split into two terms (Fall and Spring), and students take four classes per term. By utilizing this schedule, students can quickly take multiple classes per school year without having to take all six to eight classes every day as is the case with other traditional high schools. In 2017, the school received the California Gold Ribbon Schools Award and in 2019, the school received the distinction award from the Magnet Schools of America. El Camino High School is one of two high schools of the Oceanside Unified School District, located at 400 Rancho Del Oro Drive in Oceanside, California. Declared a California Distinguished School in the early 2000s, it was originally named "Oceanside High School East", and officially became El Camino High School in 1976. El Camino's Truax Theatre was built in the early 1980s and houses a large performance venue, an adjacent classroom with stage and large music and drama rooms. It also recently built a new Science and Technology Building and is undergoing constant construction to clean up the campus. El Camino maintains a close athletic rivalry with Oceanside High School. The ECHS mascot is the "Wildcat" and the school colors are brown and gold.

It is located between California State Route 76 and the San Luis Rey River bike path. The airport covers 43 acres (170,000 m2) and has one runway. It is mostly used for general aviation. The airport is operated and managed by Airport Property Ventures. Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, Oceanside Municipal Airport is assigned OKB by the FAA and OCN by the IATA. The airport's ICAO identifier is KOKB. The FAA identifier OCN belongs to the Oceanside VORTAC 4 miles west-northwest of the Oceanside Airport.

Edson Range is a firing range complex at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, near Oceanside, California. It is named for Marine Major General "Red Mike" Edson, "a World War II Medal of Honor recipient and a distinguished small arms marksman proponent." This rifle-qualification complex is home to four of the largest firing ranges on the base. The range became operational on August 21, 1964, the same day that Camp Calvin B. Matthews, in La Jolla, California, was closed and turned over to the University of California. Camp Matthews had previously been used for rifle training.While located at Camp Pendleton, Edson Range is organized as an annex of the MCRD (Marine Corps Recruit Depot), in San Diego and serves as the rifle qualification range where Marine recruits receive field and rifle training during boot camp. Two weeks of marksmanship training followed by one week of infantry field skills take place at Edson Range, which is known as "up north" by recruits and drill instructors alike (the Recruit Depot in San Diego being "down south"). The Crucible, a three to four day combat simulation with little food or sleep, also takes place here.Edson Range is also home to the "Swift Intruders", the U.S. Navy's Assault Craft Unit 5 who operate the Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC), and train on the Edson Range beaches and the adjacent Pacific Ocean. Bravo range is famous for being the range Lee Harvey Oswald shot on when he was a Marine.
