Limestone Creek (Chittenango Creek tributary)

Butternut Creek is a stream in the greater Syracuse, New York area and a tributary of Limestone Creek, part of the Oneida Lake watershed. The creek is about 16 miles (26 km) long.

Minoa is a village in Onondaga County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 3,657. Minoa is in the northern part of the town of Manlius and is east of Syracuse.

Bridgeport is a hamlet (and census-designated place) located partly in the town of Sullivan in Madison County, New York, United States and partly in the town of Cicero in Onondaga County. The population was 1,490 at the 2010 census.

The East Syracuse Minoa Central School District (ESM) is a pre-K through 12th grade public school district with its headquarters in Manlius, New York, enrolling approximately 3,500 students. ESM serves portions of the towns of DeWitt and Manlius, specifically the villages of East Syracuse, Minoa, and Kirkville as well as portions of Eastwood, Fayetteville, and Bridgeport. The district is partially funded by and governed under the authority of the New York State Education Department, whose standardized examinations are designed and administered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York.

Green Lake is the larger of the two lakes in Green Lakes State Park, which lies about 9 miles (14 km) east of downtown Syracuse in Onondaga County, New York. Round Lake is the smaller lake located west of Green Lake. Both lakes are meromictic, which means no seasonal mixing of surface and bottom waters occurs. Meromictic lakes are fairly rare; they have been extensively studied, in part because their sediments can preserve a historical record extending back thousands of years, and because of the euxinic (anoxic, sulfidic) conditions which can form in the deep water.

Green Lakes State Park is a New York State Park located east of Syracuse in the Town of Manlius. The park is strikingly scenic, and has a "masterpiece" golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones very early in his career. Green Lake itself is perhaps the most studied meromictic lake—one in which layers of water do not mix—in the world. The park preserves the largest stand of old growth forest in Central New York, and Round Lake has been designated as a National Natural Landmark by the U.S. Department of the Interior.The park is centered on two small lakes, Green Lake and Round Lake, which have an unusual blue-green color. These lakes lie at the base of a gorge that is somewhat longer than a mile in length. The lakes and the gorge are remnants of the ice ages, and exemplify some of the unusual geology of upstate New York. Green Lake has a surface area of 65 acres and a maximum depth of 195 feet. Round Lake has a surface area of 34 acres and a maximum depth of 170 feet.The park's area is 1,955 acres (7.91 km2), and it logs about 1,000,000 visitors each year. Nearly half the park's area is old-growth forest, which includes many very large specimens of tuliptrees, sugar maples, beech, basswood, hemlocks, and white cedars. A grove of trees, lying immediately to the southwest of Round Lake, has been called the Tuliptree Cathedral.

East Syracuse-Minoa Central High School is a New York State public high school located on Fremont Road, near Kirkville Road, in the village of East Syracuse. The school serves grades 9–12 in the East Syracuse-Minoa Central School District, and enrolls approximately 1050 students. The centralized students are from the villages of East Syracuse and Minoa, Chittenango, the hamlet of Kirkville, and the easternmost portion of Eastwood. Round Lake National Natural Landmark lies within Green Lakes State Park, which lies a few miles east of the city of Syracuse, New York and adjoining the village of Fayetteville. Round Lake itself and the adjoining 59 acres (24 ha) of old-growth forest were designated a National Natural Landmark in 1973 by the U.S. Department of the Interior. Hubert W. Vogelmann, a professor of botany at the University of Vermont, wrote the evaluation to the National Park Service that concurred with the recommendation of National Natural Landmark status for the region around Round Lake. Vogelmann's evaluation noted the "outstanding virgin mesophytic forest" adjoining Round Lake on its southwestern side; this text became part of the citation when the landmark was created. Vogelmann also noted Round Lake's importance as an extremely rare, "meromictic" lake. It shares this distinction with Green Lake, which lies a few hundred meters to the east.

Manlius is a town to the east of Syracuse in Onondaga County. As of the 2020 Census, the population was 33,712, making it the third largest suburb in metropolitan Syracuse. In 2005, the town was ranked 98th on CNN's list of Best Places to Live.The town of Manlius includes a village also named Manlius, along with the villages of Fayetteville and Minoa. It is located on the eastern border of Onondaga County.

WTKW ("TK99") is a classic rock radio station in Bridgeport, New York. The station broadcasts to the Syracuse, New York market on a frequency of 99.5 FM. The station also simulcasts on full-power satellite WTKV (105.5 FM) in Minetto, New York (serving Oswego) and low-power translator W256AC (99.1 FM) for Downtown Syracuse. In April 2007, WTKW/WTKV became the flagship station of Syracuse University athletics with play-by-play coverage of Men's Football, Men's Basketball and Men's Lacrosse games.

The Old Erie Canal State Historic Park encompasses a 36-mile (58 km) linear segment of the original Erie Canal's Long Level section. It extends westward from Butternut Creek in the town of DeWitt, just east of Syracuse, to the outskirts of Rome, New York. The park includes restored segments of the canal's waterway and towpath which were in active use between 1825 and 1917. It is part of the New York State Park system.

De Witt Yard is a railyard in East Syracuse, New York (6228 Fremont Rd ) (part of DeWitt, New York). It was originally built by the New York Central in the 1870s. It is now located in the Albany Division of CSXT.
