East Syracuse-Minoa Central High School is a New York State public high school located on Fremont Road, near Kirkville Road, in the village of East Syracuse. The school serves grades 9–12 in the East Syracuse-Minoa Central School District, and enrolls approximately 1050 students. The centralized students are from the villages of East Syracuse and Minoa, Chittenango, the hamlet of Kirkville, and the easternmost portion of Eastwood. Butternut Creek is a stream in the greater Syracuse, New York area and a tributary of Limestone Creek, part of the Oneida Lake watershed. The creek is about 16 miles (26 km) long.

De Witt Yard is a railyard in East Syracuse, New York (6228 Fremont Rd ) (part of DeWitt, New York). It was originally built by the New York Central in the 1870s. It is now located in the Albany Division of CSXT.

The East Syracuse Minoa Central School District (ESM) is a pre-K through 12th grade public school district with its headquarters in Manlius, New York, enrolling approximately 3,500 students. ESM serves portions of the towns of DeWitt and Manlius, specifically the villages of East Syracuse, Minoa, and Kirkville as well as portions of Eastwood, Fayetteville, and Bridgeport. The district is partially funded by and governed under the authority of the New York State Education Department, whose standardized examinations are designed and administered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York.

Manlius is a town to the east of Syracuse in Onondaga County. As of the 2020 Census, the population was 33,712, making it the third largest suburb in metropolitan Syracuse. In 2005, the town was ranked 98th on CNN's list of Best Places to Live.The town of Manlius includes a village also named Manlius, along with the villages of Fayetteville and Minoa. It is located on the eastern border of Onondaga County.

Limestone Creek is a 25-mile-long (40 km) river in Onondaga County in the state of New York. From its source on the north side of Arab Hill south of Delphi Falls, New York, and northwest of DeRuyter Reservoir, the creek flows generally north to its confluence with Chittenango Creek.

The Levi Snell House is a house with Greek Revival and Italianate architecture in Fayetteville, New York. It was built in 1855 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.It's a "substantial, largely intact, mid-nineteenth century brick residence which illustrates the residential designs frequently favored by the prosperous but conservative merchant classes in small upstate New York communities of that period. The house incorporates square massing of the relatively new Italianate style, such as wide eaves and a bracketed cornice, into a traditional five-bay center hall-plan residence with porches, doors and windows treated in the older Greek Revival style." : 6 Its first two owners were Levi Snell and Marquis L. Peck.

Round Lake National Natural Landmark lies within Green Lakes State Park, which lies a few miles east of the city of Syracuse, New York and adjoining the village of Fayetteville. Round Lake itself and the adjoining 59 acres (24 ha) of old-growth forest were designated a National Natural Landmark in 1973 by the U.S. Department of the Interior. Hubert W. Vogelmann, a professor of botany at the University of Vermont, wrote the evaluation to the National Park Service that concurred with the recommendation of National Natural Landmark status for the region around Round Lake. Vogelmann's evaluation noted the "outstanding virgin mesophytic forest" adjoining Round Lake on its southwestern side; this text became part of the citation when the landmark was created. Vogelmann also noted Round Lake's importance as an extremely rare, "meromictic" lake. It shares this distinction with Green Lake, which lies a few hundred meters to the east.

Green Lakes State Park is a New York State Park located east of Syracuse in the Town of Manlius. The park is strikingly scenic, and has a "masterpiece" golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones very early in his career. Green Lake itself is perhaps the most studied meromictic lake—one in which layers of water do not mix—in the world. The park preserves the largest stand of old growth forest in Central New York, and Round Lake has been designated as a National Natural Landmark by the U.S. Department of the Interior.The park is centered on two small lakes, Green Lake and Round Lake, which have an unusual blue-green color. These lakes lie at the base of a gorge that is somewhat longer than a mile in length. The lakes and the gorge are remnants of the ice ages, and exemplify some of the unusual geology of upstate New York. Green Lake has a surface area of 65 acres and a maximum depth of 195 feet. Round Lake has a surface area of 34 acres and a maximum depth of 170 feet.The park's area is 1,955 acres (7.91 km2), and it logs about 1,000,000 visitors each year. Nearly half the park's area is old-growth forest, which includes many very large specimens of tuliptrees, sugar maples, beech, basswood, hemlocks, and white cedars. A grove of trees, lying immediately to the southwest of Round Lake, has been called the Tuliptree Cathedral.

The Genesee Street Hill–Limestone Plaza Historic District is a historic district in Fayetteville, New York that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The western border of the district is Limestone Creek. The district includes multiple Greek Revival houses, as well as Italianate and Federal architecture styles, along East Genesee Street as it rises from Limestone Plaza to Chapel Street, near the top of East Genesee Street Hill (which is the village center of Fayetteville). It includes a 12 acres (4.9 ha) area.

Fayetteville is a village located in Onondaga County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 U.S. Census, the population was 4,225. The village is named after the Marquis de Lafayette, a national hero of both France and the United States. It is part of the Syracuse Metropolitan Statistical Area. Fayetteville is located in the town of Manlius and is an eastern suburb of Syracuse.

Green Lake is the larger of the two lakes in Green Lakes State Park, which lies about 9 miles (14 km) east of downtown Syracuse in Onondaga County, New York. Round Lake is the smaller lake located west of Green Lake. Both lakes are meromictic, which means no seasonal mixing of surface and bottom waters occurs. Meromictic lakes are fairly rare; they have been extensively studied, in part because their sediments can preserve a historical record extending back thousands of years, and because of the euxinic (anoxic, sulfidic) conditions which can form in the deep water.
