Old Erie Canal State Historic Park

Mycenae is a hamlet in the Town of Manlius, New York, within Onondaga County, United States. It lies at the meeting point of New York Route 5 and Route 290. Mycenae is located at 43° 02' 56" North, 75° 55' 50" West. Presumably the hamlet was named after the ancient Greek city of Mycenae.

Mycenae Schoolhouse is a historic one-room school building located in the hamlet of Mycenae in the town of Manlius in Onondaga County, New York. It is a one-story building built of locally quarried limestone with a low-pitched gabled roof in the Greek Revival style. The roof features a small belfry. It was built in 1850 and ceased being used as a school in 1936.It is prominently located on NY 5. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. In recent years it has been used as an antiques shop. As of late 2009, the building is vacant and available for sale or for rent.

Rutger–Steuben Park Historic District is a 25-acre (10 ha) historic district in the city of Utica in Oneida County, New York. The district includes 63 contributing buildings and contains numerous examples of late nineteenth century Italian Villa style residences. A group of five exceptional dwellings are grouped together in a private park, known as Rutger Park, at the center of the district. One of the dwellings on Rutger Park was designed by architect Alexander Jackson Davis. The Roscoe Conkling House is located at 3 Rutger Park and it was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1975. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Green Lake is the larger of the two lakes in Green Lakes State Park, which lies about 9 miles (14 km) east of downtown Syracuse in Onondaga County, New York. Round Lake is the smaller lake located west of Green Lake. Both lakes are meromictic, which means no seasonal mixing of surface and bottom waters occurs. Meromictic lakes are fairly rare; they have been extensively studied, in part because their sediments can preserve a historical record extending back thousands of years, and because of the euxinic (anoxic, sulfidic) conditions which can form in the deep water.

Green Lakes State Park is a New York State Park located east of Syracuse in the Town of Manlius. The park is strikingly scenic, and has a "masterpiece" golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones very early in his career. Green Lake itself is perhaps the most studied meromictic lake—one in which layers of water do not mix—in the world. The park preserves the largest stand of old growth forest in Central New York, and Round Lake has been designated as a National Natural Landmark by the U.S. Department of the Interior.The park is centered on two small lakes, Green Lake and Round Lake, which have an unusual blue-green color. These lakes lie at the base of a gorge that is somewhat longer than a mile in length. The lakes and the gorge are remnants of the ice ages, and exemplify some of the unusual geology of upstate New York. Green Lake has a surface area of 65 acres and a maximum depth of 195 feet. Round Lake has a surface area of 34 acres and a maximum depth of 170 feet.The park's area is 1,955 acres (7.91 km2), and it logs about 1,000,000 visitors each year. Nearly half the park's area is old-growth forest, which includes many very large specimens of tuliptrees, sugar maples, beech, basswood, hemlocks, and white cedars. A grove of trees, lying immediately to the southwest of Round Lake, has been called the Tuliptree Cathedral.

The Chittenango Landing Dry Dock Complex provided dry dock for canal boats on the old Erie Canal. The original complex was built in 1856 and abandoned after this section of the "enlarged" Erie canal was bypassed by the new barge canal in 1917. The current restoration began in 1986 when the original dry docks were excavated, since then several buildings have been restored, one of which acts as a museum building for the Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum.The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. The listing includes six contributing structures over a 6.6-acre (2.7 ha) area.The site includes three dry dock bays.

Round Lake National Natural Landmark lies within Green Lakes State Park, which lies a few miles east of the city of Syracuse, New York and adjoining the village of Fayetteville. Round Lake itself and the adjoining 59 acres (24 ha) of old-growth forest were designated a National Natural Landmark in 1973 by the U.S. Department of the Interior. Hubert W. Vogelmann, a professor of botany at the University of Vermont, wrote the evaluation to the National Park Service that concurred with the recommendation of National Natural Landmark status for the region around Round Lake. Vogelmann's evaluation noted the "outstanding virgin mesophytic forest" adjoining Round Lake on its southwestern side; this text became part of the citation when the landmark was created. Vogelmann also noted Round Lake's importance as an extremely rare, "meromictic" lake. It shares this distinction with Green Lake, which lies a few hundred meters to the east.

Limestone Creek is a 25-mile-long (40 km) river in Onondaga County in the state of New York. From its source on the north side of Arab Hill south of Delphi Falls, New York, and northwest of DeRuyter Reservoir, the creek flows generally north to its confluence with Chittenango Creek.

Chittenango is a village located in Madison County, New York, United States. The village is in the southern part of the Town of Sullivan. The population was 4,896 at the 2020 census. Chittenango is the birthplace of L. Frank Baum, author of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Chittenango Pottery is a historic pottery located at Chittenango, Madison County, New York. Sullivan is a town in Madison County, New York, United States. The population was 15,339 at the 2010 census. The town is named after General John Sullivan. The Town of Sullivan is located in the northwestern corner of the county.

Manlius is a town to the east of Syracuse in Onondaga County. As of the 2020 Census, the population was 33,712, making it the third largest suburb in metropolitan Syracuse. In 2005, the town was ranked 98th on CNN's list of Best Places to Live.The town of Manlius includes a village also named Manlius, along with the villages of Fayetteville and Minoa. It is located on the eastern border of Onondaga County.
