The Lutheran University of Brazil (Portuguese: Universidade Luterana do Brasil or ULBRA) is a university with campuses in several states throughout Brazil.

Sapucaia do Sul is a municipality in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It is located in the south of Brazil, in the region of "Vale dos Sinos". Sapucaia do Sul is a commercial city, and some industries have been there since the 1960s. The city is crossed by BR-116, one of the most important roads in Brazil. The coordinates of this place are -29.829, -51.144. As of 2020, the city has a population of 141,808. One of its main touristic attractions is the Zoo Park.

Canoas (Portuguese pronunciation: [kaˈnoɐs]), which earned city status in 1939, is a municipality in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. With more than 340,000 inhabitants, it is part of the Porto Alegre conurbation and has the second highest GDP in the state. It is also the third largest city in the state by population. Canoas boasts a strong manufacturing-based economy and is the home to Canoas Air Force Base - ALA3, one of the most important bases of the Brazilian Air Force. According to the IBGE, Brazil's Geography and Statistics Institute, Canoas currently has no rural areas, but it started as a village of large landowners. The first of them was conquistador Francisco Pinto Bandeira, who received from the Portuguese Crown, in 1740, an area north of the Gravataí River. History has that 1871 was the beginning of the village of Canoas, when the first section of the railway that would link Porto Alegre to São Leopoldo was inaugurated. Canoas was then part of the municipalities of Gravataí and São Sebastião do Caí. Soon large farms would lose space to small properties. After obtaining city status, Canoas experienced rapid growth, especially after 1945. At that time, it would be called a cidade-dormitório (Portuguese for 'bedroom city'), because thousands of people would commute to neighboring Porto Alegre to work. However, de-industrialisation in Porto Alegre, the setting-up of numerous manufacturing plants in Canoas and a strong demographic growth have reverted that situation and nowadays Canoas has a per capita GDP higher than Porto Alegre.

Unisinos (Portuguese: Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos—literally "University of the Sinos River Valley") is a Brazilian private Jesuit university founded in 1969. Its main campus is located in Southern Brazil, in the city of São Leopoldo, state of Rio Grande do Sul (Sinos River valley region). Unisinos has more than 30,000 students in its 91 undergraduate programs, 19 academic master's programs, 6 professional master's programs, and 14 PhD programs, with six schools – Polytechnic, Business, Law, Health, Creative Industry, and Humanities. Unisinos has a strategic orientation in Science, Technology, and Innovation with a global dimension. Unisinos' campus has a technological park, TECNOSINOS, which consists of 75 companies from 10 different countries, including the South Korean HT Micron and the German SAP Labs Latin America. Together, these companies are responsible for 6,000 direct job positions. TECNOSINOS was selected as the best technological park in Brazil by ANPROTEC (National Association of Entities Promoting Innovative ventures) in 2010 and 2014. In 2014, its incubated company was named best in the world by SBPA Simulators. Academically, Unisinos ranks first among private undergraduate universities and second among private universities in Brazil.

Campo Nossa Senhora de Fátima (IATA: QNS, ICAO: SBCO) is a temporary aerodrome located in Canoas, serving Porto Alegre and the region of Greater Porto Alegre, Brazil. It started operations on May 27, 2024, as a contingency measure after the indefinite closure of Salgado Filho Airport as a result of 2024 Rio Grande do Sul floods that caused critical damage to the latter. It operates using the facilities (runways, taxiways and apron) of Canoas Air Force Base. A designated area within Park Shopping Canoas Mall is used as a passenger terminal. All passengers are transferred by bus between both locations, which are 4 km away from each other. It is operated by Fraport Brasil, the same operator of Salgado Filho International Airport.

Rio dos Sinos is a river in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil. It rises in the hills east of Caraá (130 kilometres (81 mi) away from Porto Alegre) at elevations above 600 metres (2,000 ft) and covers a distance of about 190 kilometres (120 mi), flowing into the delta Jacuí in Canoas, at an elevation of only 5 metres (16 ft). The river basin contains the São Francisco de Paula National Forest, a 1,616-hectare (3,990-acre) sustainable use conservation area created in 1968.

Arena do Grêmio is a multi-use stadium in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. It was inaugurated on December 8, 2012.It is used mostly for football matches and as the home stadium of Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense, replacing the Estádio Olímpico Monumental. With a 60,540 capacity (55,662 current official capacity), the stadium is one of the most modern venues in South America. In Sisbrace, the Brazilian Ministry of Sport's football stadium evaluation system, Arena do Grêmio received the highest rating in all aspects. Arena also received from UEFA a "Category Four" evaluation from UEFA's stadium categories, the only in Brazil. Even though it is one of the most modern stadiums in Brazil, it was not listed as a host of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, held in the country, but in 2019 Arena do Grêmio was selected as one of the venues for the 2019 Copa América where five matches were played in the stadium.

The Caí River (Portuguese pronunciation: [kaˈi]) is a river of Rio Grande do Sul state in southern Brazil. It is a tributary of the Jacuí River, just above the junction with the Guaíba.
