Cool Spring Place

Hay Street United Methodist Church is a historic Methodist church located in Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina. It was the first Methodist church constructed in the city. The congregation was received into the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1808 by Bishop Francis Asbury and it was completed on June 23, 1835. The current structure was built in 1908, one hundred years after the official organization of the church. It is a brick church with three corner towers in the Late Gothic Revival style. The building is known for its elaborate stained glass windows, which feature the lost art of the "robing glass" technique. Renovations to the structure last took place in 1978, including the installation of a Holkamp Organ.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.The church constructed a new Family Life Center which was completed in 2007. The Rev. David Woodhouse currently serves as pastor.

First Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterian church located at Ann and Bow Streets in Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina. It was built in 1832, incorporating parts of the brick walls of an earlier (1816) church that burned in 1831. It is a two-story gabled brick building, five bays wide and five wider bays deep. The chancel, portico, steeple and most of the interior woodwork are later additions and replacements. The hexastyle portico and steeple were designed by Hobart Upjohn in 1922.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Sedberry-Holmes House is a historic home located at Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina. It was built in 1886, and is a two-story, five bay by three bay, Queen Anne style frame dwelling. It has a two-story gabled projection with an attached corner turret. It features a steep gable roof and wraparound porch.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

It encompasses 14 contributing buildings and 1 contributing site in the central business district of Fayetteville. The district includes consists of a block of 14 brick row buildings dating between 1791 and 1916. The Liberty Point Store is the oldest structure and is a two-story, five-bay, Federal style brick building.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. It is incorporated into the Fayetteville Downtown Historic District.

Fayetteville Downtown Historic District is a national historic district located in Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina. It encompasses 113 contributing buildings, 3 contributing sites, 1 contributing structure, and 2 contributing objects in the central business district of Fayetteville. The district includes commercial buildings, government and civic buildings, railroad-related structures, residential dwellings, churches and the Cross Creek Cemetery. They range in build date from the 1780s to 1949. The district includes the previously listed Liberty Row and Market House Square District and 16 resources listed as part of the "Historic Resources of Fayetteville," a Multiple Resource Nomination.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

The Market House is a Market house and town hall in the center of Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina. It was built in 1838 on the site of the old state house and Town Hall which burned down in 1831. Fayetteville was the capital of North Carolina from 1789 to 1794. It has an arcaded open ground level, and a meeting hall above in a standard market house format which originated in the British Isles and is also common in New England. It served both as a town hall and general market until the early 20th century, and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1973. The upper floor now houses a museum. A study completed by Duke University professor John Cavanagh noted that "sales [near this location] were spaced on the average about two months apart, if that frequently, and in most instances very few slaves were involved in each transaction".Because of its history as a general trading and market place, it is assumed that slaves were also traded there. It was also widely used as a market for goods and livestock which sometimes included human chattel. On May 30, 2020, protestors attempted to set the building on fire with the fire quickly quenched resulting in only minor damage.

St. John's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina is a congregation of the Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina, a division of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America. Founded in 1817, it is located on Green Street in historic downtown Fayetteville. The congregation was formally organized April 7, 1817, and it became the first Episcopal church in the city. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Public tours are available by appointment.

On Monday, August 28, 2000, James Easton Kelly, 37, a disgruntled graduate student at the University of Arkansas, shot and killed his faculty advisor, Prof. John R. Locke, and then committed suicide shortly afterwards. The murder-suicide was the first incident of its type in the university's history.

Market House Square District is a national historic district located at Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina. It encompasses 11 contributing buildings in the central business district of Fayetteville. The district includes six storefronts and a major store, an office building, a former Knights of Pythias Building, and the First Citizen's Bank Building, all of which date between 1884 and 1926 and ring the separately listed Market House. The First Citizen's Bank Building was designed by architect Charles C. Hartmann and built in 1926.Although all of the original buildings were lost in Fayetteville's devastating fire of 1831, replacements were built at the same locations, with one exception. There was no sense in rebuilding the former capitol, although when the capitol in Raleigh also burned soon afterwards some in Fayetteville had fantasies of getting the capital moved back. Instead they built a Market House, with covered space for commercial activities—since all the stores in Fsyetteville had been burned. Above it were meeting rooms, where the town and county business could be done. It remained the center of Fayetteville. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It is incorporated into the Fayetteville Downtown Historic District.

Kyle House is a historic home located at Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina. The original Kyle House, home to merchant James Kyle, burned in a city fire in 1831. Rumor had it that the great fire began in the Kyle House's kitchen. It was then rebuilt in about 1855 as a two-story, five-bay, brick town house with Greek Revival and Italianate style design elements. It features a three-bay wide one-story porch with a flat roof supported by four fluted Doric order columns.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

Cumberland County Courthouse is a historic courthouse building located at Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina. It was designed by architect Harry Barton and built in 1925–1926. It is a three-story, rectangular, Classical Revival style building sheathed in ashlar veneer.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

St. Joseph's Episcopal Church is a historic black Episcopal church complex located at Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina. Its historic church at Ramsey and Moore Streets was built in 1896. It is a low, shingled, Queen Anne style frame church with English Gothic and Spanish accents. It features a three-part stained glass window, deeply projecting semi-octagonal chancel, and steeply pitched main roof with exposed rafters. Also on the property are the contributing Parish House and Parsonage. It was chartered in 1873, and is the second oldest Episcopal congregation in Fayetteville.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
