De Ikkers

De Princehofmolen is a hollow post mill in Earnewâld, Friesland, the Netherlands, which was built in 1958. The mill is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 22934.

De Alde Feanen National Park (official, combination of Dutch and Frisian: Nationaal Park De Alde Feanen) is a national park in the Netherlands province of Friesland. The Alde Feanen is also a Natura 2000 area. The Alde Feanen is part of the municipalities Leeuwarden, Smallingerland and Tytsjerksteradiel. Its size is about 25 km2 (9.7 sq mi). Part of the national park is the lake area Princenhof (or Princehof). The Alde Feanen contains morasses, lakes, forests, peat and meadows. In the area at least 450 plant species and 100 bird species can be found. A very prominent bird is the white stork (Ciconia ciconia). Tall wooden poles have been installed so that the storks can build nests. Another attraction is provided by Shetland ponies. Some of the paddocks can be entered so that ponies can be petted by visitors. In the village of Earnewâld there is a visitors centre, De Reidplûm, close to the stork breeding station It Eibertshiem. The area is owned by It Fryske Gea since 1934. After a preparation period of 4 years, the Minister of Nature designed it as the 20th (As of 2012, the last) national park in the Netherlands in 2006. In the Alde Feanen are several monumental wind mills, such as 'De Ikkers', a so-called 'spinnenkopmolen' from the 18th century.

Warten (Dutch: Wartena) is a village in the municipality of Leeuwarden in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 915 in January 2017.There is a restored windmill in the village, De Ikkers. Warten is close to the De Alde Feanen National Park.Warten is the hometown of Olympic gold medallist Marit Bouwmeester (2016: Laser Radial sailing).

It had a population of around 652 in January 2017.The village has a solar powered ferry for transporting pedestrians and bicycles called Schalkediep. It travels on the Prinses Margrietkanaal from Garyp.

Roekmole is a hollow post mill in nature reserve It Eilân in Goëngahuizen, Friesland, Netherlands. It was moved there from polder Krieke near Aldeboarn and has been restored to working order. The mill is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 35972.

De Borgmolen is a smock mill in Grou, Friesland, Netherlands which was built in 2008. Although not in full working order, it can turn in the wind. It is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 22916.

Warstiens is a small village in Leeuwarden municipality in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 35 in January 2017.

The van Harinxmakanaal is a major canal in western Frisland. It runs from the sea at Harlingen eastwards to Leeuwarden. Major places along the canal include Franeker, Dronrijp and Deinum. The canal is 37.5 kilometers long. It was named after Pieter Albert Vincent van Harinxma thoe Slooten in 1950 who was King's Commissioner to Friesland from 1909 to 1945. Prior to this date it was called Harlinger Trekvaart. However this was widened and deepened, and a few corners cut off in 1951. At Suawoude it joins the Prinses Margrietkanaal. The lock Tsjerk Hiddessluizen situated at the connection to the Harlingen harbour maintains the water level in the canal. The canal water level is connected to the water system called Friese boezem, consisting of lakes, waterways and canals in Friesland.

De Bird is a Hollow Post mill in Grou, Friesland, Netherlands which was built in the 18th century. The mill is also known as De Burd and Koopmans Molen. Although not in full working order, it can turn in the wind. It is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 22915.

De Veenhoop (West Frisian: De Feanhoop) is a village in Smallingerland municipality in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 245 in January 2017.
