Royal Marines Memorial

A bronze statue of Captain James Cook by Thomas Brock is located near Admiralty Arch on the south side of The Mall in London, United Kingdom. The statue was completed in 1914 and is maintained by The Royal Parks. It is mounted on a stone plinth.The idea for the memorial was first proposed by Joseph Carruthers, the former prime minister of New South Wales, who had written to The Times complaining of the lack of a statue to Captain Cook in London. The completed work was unveiled on 7 July 1914 by Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn.

The Federation of British Artists (FBA) consists of nine art societies, and is based at Mall Galleries in London where the societies' Annual Exhibitions are held. The societies represent living artists working in the United Kingdom who create contemporary figurative art. Mall Galleries aim to 'promote, inspire and educate audiences about the visual arts.'

HMS St Vincent was a shore establishment of the Royal Navy, located in London during the 1990s. There had been a previous London-based HMS St Vincent, which had been the home of the Royal Navy section at the Royal Naval Reserve's base at HMS President. This HMS St Vincent had closed on 31 March 1992, and the following day, on 1 April 1992 a new HMS St Vincent opened. This was located in the Whitehall bunker behind Admiralty House, and became the Admiralty's communication centre. It continued to operate until being paid off on 31 March 1998. Its elements then became MARCOMM COMCEN (St Vincent).

The Trafalgar St. James London, Curio Collection by Hilton, formerly The Trafalgar Hotel, is a hotel in the City of Westminster, Central London, owned by London & Regional Properties. It was Hilton's first unbranded property.Previously known as the Trafalgar Hotel, it was relaunched as The Trafalgar St. James London in August 2017, following a refurbishment in which the number of rooms has been increased to 131. The hotel is a contemporary boutique hotel located on the south side of Trafalgar Square. The building was once used by the Cunard Steamship Company. The boardroom was used in feature films such as Dr. No and The Ipcress File. The Trafalgar St. James is home to two restaurants including The Rooftop and Rockwell. Biblio is the hotel's 'house living room'.

Admiralty Arch is a landmark building in London providing road and pedestrian access between The Mall, which extends to the southwest, and Trafalgar Square to the northeast. Admiralty Arch, commissioned by King Edward VII in memory of his mother, Queen Victoria, and designed by Aston Webb, is now a Grade I listed building. In the past, it served as residence of the First Sea Lord and was used by the Admiralty. Until 2011, the building housed government offices. In 2012, the government sold the building on a 125-year lease for £60m for a proposed redevelopment into a Waldorf Astoria luxury hotel and four apartments. The hotel is scheduled to open in 2022.

The Royal Society of Portrait Painters is a charity based at Carlton House Terrace, SW1, London that promotes the practice and appreciation of portraiture. Its Annual Exhibition of portraiture is held at Mall Galleries, and it runs a commissions service to help those wanting a portrait throughout the year. Activities include artist Prizes, Awards, demonstrations, workshops, debates and talks. The Society is a member of the Federation of British Artists.

The British Coffee House was a coffeehouse at 27 Cockspur Street, London. It is known to have existed in 1722, and was run in 1759 by a sister of John Douglas (bishop of Salisbury), and then by Mrs. Anderson, and was particularly popular with the Scottish. English coffeehouses in the 17th and 18th centuries acted as public meeting places. It was rebuilt by Robert Adam in 1770, and was owned by David Hatton Morley, the father of Atkinson Morley.

The National Police Memorial is a memorial in central London, commemorating about 4,000 police officers killed in the course of their duties in the United Kingdom. It was designed by Lord Foster of Thames Bank and Per Arnoldi and unveiled in 2005. The project architect for Foster was Peter Ridley.

The Board of Invention and Research (BIR) was a British expert-level committee, initiated by the Admiralty of the Royal Navy. Established in 1915, the board was responsible for soliciting expert scientific assistance to solve tactical and technical problems. It was a sister organisation to the Munitions Inventions Department which had been set up in April 1915 and the Air Inventions Committee (AIC), once it became become fully operational in the summer of 1917.

The London New Year's Day Parade (LNYDP) is an annual parade through the streets of the West End of London on 1 January. The parade first took place in 1987, as the Lord Mayor of Westminster's Big Parade. The parade was renamed in 1994, and for 2000 only it was called the Millennium Parade. The parade went virtual in 2021 but returned live for 2022, albeit scaled-down, due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Cockspur Street is a short street in the City of Westminster, London, SW1 within which a very short part of Trafalgar Square links Charing Cross to Pall Mall/Pall Mall East at the point where that road changes name, opposite the traffic exit from Haymarket. It and all the streets mentioned are part of the A4. It has existed since at least the 16th century along a similar line.

The Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) is an artistic and cultural centre on The Mall in London, just off Trafalgar Square. Located within Nash House, part of Carlton House Terrace, near the Duke of York Steps and Admiralty Arch, the ICA contains galleries, a theatre, two cinemas, a bookshop and a bar. Stefan Kalmár became its director in 2016 and stepped down from this position in August 2021.
