The Cathedral of Brixen (German: Brixner Dom, Italian: Duomo di Bressanone) is a cathedral in the city of Brixen, South Tyrol, Italy. It is dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and to Cassian of Imola. Since the foundation it has been the episcopal see of the Diocese of Brixen. In 1964, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bolzano-Brixen was created, and the see was moved to Bolzano. The cathedral currently has the status of minor basilica.The cathedral is known since the 980s. The original building was Ottonian. By 1174, it was rebuilt in the Romanesque style, as the three-nave basilica as well as the two towers were completed. In 1745–54 it was further rebuilt in the Baroque style. The frescoes depicting the Adoration of the Lamb (1748–50) are by Paul Troger, and the main altar is by Theodor Benedetti. There is also a Gothic statue of the Virgin by Hans Leinberger. The pipe organ was made in 1980 by Orgelbau Pirchner.A cloister next to the cathedral is covered with Romanesque and Gothis frescoes.

The Diocese of Bolzano-Brixen (German: Diözese Bozen-Brixen, Italian: Diocesi di Bolzano-Bressanone, Latin: Dioecesis Bauzanensis-Brixinensis) is a Latin diocese of the Catholic Church in northern Italy, with its seat in the city of Bolzano. Its territory corresponds with that of the province of South Tyrol with its predominantly German-speaking population. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Trento.The current configuration of the diocese was created by Pope Paul VI, in a papal bull of 6 August 1964, when the South Tyrolean parts of the archdiocese of Trento around Bolzano and Merano were merged into the Diocese of Brixen. In turn, the Austrian parts of the Brixen diocese around Feldkirch, Vorarlberg were at first allocated to the Apostolic Administration of Innsbruck-Felkirch, that only in 1964 was promoted as a Diocese and separated in two in 1968. The Ladin districts of Fodom (Livinallongo del Col di Lana and Colle Santa Lucia) and Anpez (Cortina d’Ampezzo) passed from Brixen to the Diocese of Belluno. At the same time the episcopal see was moved from Brixen to Bolzano, where the Assumption of Mary parish church was elevated to a co-cathedral, while the chapter remained in Brixen. The diocesan ordinary (bishop) is Ivo Muser, appointed on 27 July 2011 by Pope Benedict XVI.

The "White Tower" (in German Weißer Turm German pronunciation: [ˈvaɪ̯sɐ ˈtʊrm]) is located in Brixen (German pronunciation: [ˈbrɪksn̩]; Italian: Bressanone [bressaˈnoːne]; Ladin: Porsenù or Persenon), a small town in South Tyrol, Italy. It dates back to the 15th century. The Gothic tower stands 72m tall and the cathedral close to it is dedicated to Saint Michael. Along with the two towers of the Cathedral of Brixen, it is one of the emblems of the city's bishopric. It has about 200 stairs which lead to the complex carillon mechanism of 43 bells. After its restoration in 2006, the White Tower is used as a museum. The White Tower is a registered cultural heritage monument (number 14186) in South Tyrol.

The Plose is a massif with several peaks near Brixen in South Tyrol, Italy. Its peaks are: Telegraph (2,486 m s.l.m.), Pfannspitze (2,547 m s.l.m.) and Gabler (2,576 m s.l.m.). It is bordered by the Eisacktal to the west, the Lüsner Valley to the north and east and the Aferer Valley as well as the Würzjoch to the south. Due to its gentle slopes, the Plose is suitable for skiing and has been made accessible through numerous cableway systems.

Franzensfeste (German: [ˈfrantsn̩sˌfɛstə]; Italian: Fortezza [forˈtettsa]) is a comune and a village in South Tyrol in northern Italy. It is named after the large Franzensfeste Fortress erected from 1833 to 1838 and Franzensfeste station is also known as an important railway hub.
