Wickede (Dortmund)

Dortmund-Wickede West is a railway station in the Dortmund district of Wickede in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 6 station. It was opened on 15 May 1876 on the Welver–Sterkrade railway completed between Welver and the old Dortmund Süd (south) station by the Royal Westphalian Railway Company on the same date and electrified on 25 May 1984. It was originally called Wickede-Asseln, but it was renamed Dortmund-Asseln between 1927 and 1930 and Dortmund-Wickede West on 3 June 1984.It is served by Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn line S 4 at 30-minute intervals (15-minute intervals in the peak between Dortmund-Lütgendortmund and Unna-Königsborn).The station is also served by bus route 428 (Baedekerstr + Roningweg) of the municipal bus company, Dortmunder Stadtwerke (DSW21) at 20-minute intervals.

9ff is a German car tuning company based in Dortmund. It was founded by Jan Fatthauer in 2001. It specializes in converting stock Porsches into street legal racing vehicles, either as fully tuned cars, or by selling individual parts or kits. The company is best known for building one of the first cars to exceed 400 km/h (249 mph), the GT9, capable of 256 mph (412 km/h). The former company, 9ff Fahrzeugtechnik GmbH, filed for bankruptcy in September 2013. A new company, 9ff Engineering GmbH was founded in October 2013.

The station was opened on 17 December 1860, five years after the opening of the Dortmund–Soest railway. It has five platform tracks and it is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station. The station is served by the Rhein-Münsterland-Express (RE 7) between Krefeld and Rheine, the Maas-Wupper-Express (RE 13) between Venlo and Hamm and the Hellwegbahn (RB 59) between Dortmund and Soest, each hourly.

Dortmund-Kurl station is in the Dortmund suburb of Kurl in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia on the Dortmund–Hamm line. The station has two platform tracks and an overtaking track for long-distance trains and a freight track without platforms, which is no longer used.

St. Georg is a church and Protestant parish in Aplerbeck, now part of Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is a Romanesque cross basilica (Kreuzbasilika) from the 12th century. The only building in Dortmund of its kind, it is a listed monument.In the 19th century when the town grew due to industrialisation, a larger church was built, and St. Georg fell into disrepair. It served as a community hall from 1926, and was restored as a church from 1963. It is again the parish church, while the larger church has been mostly used for concerts since 1999.
