Dortmund-Wickede West station

Wickede is the easternmost borough in the city of Dortmund, Germany. Until 1830 Wickede was a village with a purely peasant population. With the beginning of industrialization Wickede's population grew. Today it has 15,398 inhabitants , which makes it one of the more populous boroughs of Dortmund. Wickede was incorporated into Dortmund in 1928. Today it is a part of the Stadtbezirk ("City District") Brackel and it borders the towns of Unna and Holzwickede. The borough is also home to the Dortmund Airport. Some areas of Wickede are considered socially disadvantaged. The overall unemployment rate of the borough is slightly higher than in the city as a whole and the average annual income is slightly lower than the city's average. Wickede is connected to the city center through light rail and has two railway stations (see Dortmund-Wickede station and Dortmund-Wickede West station).

Dortmund Airport (IATA: DTM, ICAO: EDLW) is a minor international airport located 10 km (6.2 mi) east of Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia. It serves the eastern Rhine-Ruhr area, the largest urban agglomeration in Germany, and is mainly used for low-cost and leisure charter flights. In 2020 the airport served 1,220,624 passengers. The nearest major international airport is Düsseldorf Airport approx. 70 km (43 mi) to the southwest.

9ff is a German car tuning company based in Dortmund. It was founded by Jan Fatthauer in 2001. It specializes in converting stock Porsches into street legal racing vehicles, either as fully tuned cars, or by selling individual parts or kits. The company is best known for building one of the first cars to exceed 400 km/h (249 mph), the GT9, capable of 256 mph (412 km/h). The former company, 9ff Fahrzeugtechnik GmbH, filed for bankruptcy in September 2013. A new company, 9ff Engineering GmbH was founded in October 2013.

It is also served by Dortmund Stadtbahn line U 43 at 20-minute intervals.The station is also served by bus route R51 (Massen - Unna + Holzwickede - Opherdicke) of Verkehrsgesellschaft Kreis Unna at 60-minute intervals.

Dortmund-Asseln Mitte is a railway station in the Dortmund district of Asseln in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 6 station. It was opened in 1963 or 1964 on the Welver–Sterkrade railway completed between Welver and the old Dortmund Süd (south) station by the Royal Westphalian Railway Company on 15 May 1876 and electrified on 25 May 1984.It is served by Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn line S 4 at 30-minute intervals (15-minute intervals in the peak between Dortmund-Lütgendortmund and Unna-Königsborn).The station is also served by two bus routes, 426 (Kurl) and 439 (Aplerbeck – Schwerter Wald – Hörde – Stadtkrone Ost + Kurl – Husen), both operated at 30-minute intervals by the municipal bus company, Dortmunder Stadtwerke (DSW21).

Holzwickede station is a through station in the town of Holzwickede in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The station was opened on 17 December 1860, five years after the opening of the Dortmund–Soest railway. It has five platform tracks and it is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station. The station is served by the Rhein-Münsterland-Express (RE 7) between Krefeld and Rheine, the Maas-Wupper-Express (RE 13) between Venlo and Hamm and the Hellwegbahn (RB 59) between Dortmund and Soest, each hourly.

Holzwickede (German pronunciation: [hɔltsˈvɪkədə]) is a municipality in the district of Unna in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is twinned with Weymouth, Louviers and Colditz.

Dortmund-Kurl station is in the Dortmund suburb of Kurl in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia on the Dortmund–Hamm line. The station has two platform tracks and an overtaking track for long-distance trains and a freight track without platforms, which is no longer used.

It was opened between 1897 and 1905 on the Welver–Sterkrade railway completed between Welver and the old Dortmund Süd (south) station by the Royal Westphalian Railway Company on 15 May 1876 and electrified on 25 May 1984.It is served by Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn line S 4 at 30-minute intervals (15-minute intervals in the peak between Dortmund-Lütgendortmund and Unna-Königsborn).The station is also served by bus routes T48 (Mittelstr + Afferde) and R54 (Unna + Methler) of Verkehrsgesellschaft Kreis Unna, both at 60-minute intervals.

Dortmund-Sölde station is a railway station in the Sölde district of the town of Dortmund, located in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

St. Georg is a church and Protestant parish in Aplerbeck, now part of Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is a Romanesque cross basilica (Kreuzbasilika) from the 12th century. The only building in Dortmund of its kind, it is a listed monument.In the 19th century when the town grew due to industrialisation, a larger church was built, and St. Georg fell into disrepair. It served as a community hall from 1926, and was restored as a church from 1963. It is again the parish church, while the larger church has been mostly used for concerts since 1999.
