Needle Hill

The Shing Mun Tunnels are a system of tunnels and viaducts in the New Territories, Hong Kong connecting the new towns of Tsuen Wan to the west and Sha Tin to the east. They are a part of Route 9 and the Tsuen Wan entrance is the reset point (As Route 9 is apparently a loop) of Route 9.Construction started on 11 February 1987 and the tunnels opened on 20 April 1990. They are made up of three sections, each with twin two-lane tunnels (one each way). The westerly pair passes through Smuggler's Ridge near Shing Mun Reservoir, where it gets its name from; the easterly pair passes through Needle Hill and is linked to the westerly pair by two viaducts over Lower Shing Mun Reservoir. The toll plaza and bus interchange are located outside the Tsuen Wan end of the tunnel. The tunnels lead to Cheung Pei Shan Road and connect Wo Yi Hop Interchange in Tsuen Wan, and Shing Mun Tunnel Road in the east which links Tai Wai Road and ends at Tai Po Road. The Shing Mun Tunnels are currently managed by Greater Lucky (H.K.) Company Limited.

Heung Fan Liu New Village (Chinese: 香粉寮新村), also referred to as Heung Fan Liu Resite Area, is a village in Tai Wai, Sha Tin District, Hong Kong.

Shing Mun Reservoir is a reservoir in Hong Kong. It is located in Shing Mun, the area between Tsuen Wan and Sha Tin, in the New Territories.

Lower Shing Mun Reservoir is a reservoir outside Shing Mun Country Park and the downstream of the dam of the Shing Mun Reservoir in the Sha Tin District of Hong Kong. Two vehicular bridges span over the valley between the Shing Mun Reservoir and the Lower Shing Mun Reservoir. They are viaducts connecting the tunnels on their respective ends which together form the Shing Mun Tunnel road scheme.Lower Shing Mun Reservoir was commissioned in 1965 and was a part of the "Plover Cove Reservoir Scheme". Shing Mun Reservoir and Lower Shing Mun Reservoir have a total storage capacity of 17.58 million cubic metres.Construction of a water tunnel connecting the Kowloon Byewash Reservoir to the Lower Shing Mun Reservoir started in 2019. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2022. The Inter-reservoirs Transfer Scheme (IRTS) consists mainly of a water tunnel, 2.8 km in length and 3 m in diameter, connecting the two reservoirs. The purpose of the tunnel is to reduce the quantity of the overflow from the Kowloon Group of Reservoirs into the Lai Chi Kok Transfer Scheme (LCKTS) and to make better use of the water collected by the Kowloon Group of Reservoirs which will otherwise overflow into the Butterfly Valley and discharge into the sea.

The Shing Mun Country Park (established 24 June 1977) is a country park of Hong Kong, hugging the Shing Mun Reservoir.

Tai Wai Nullah (Chinese: 大圍渠), sometimes referred to as the upper stream of Shing Mun River, is one of the nullahs of Shing Mun River in Tai Wai of Hong Kong. The channelised nullah has a width of about 39 m. As water flow is very low most of the time, the concrete nullah bed is exposed.

Mei Lam Estate (Chinese: 美林邨) is a public housing estate in Tai Wai, Sha Tin District, New Territories, Hong Kong, located on both sides of Tai Wai Nullah (sometimes referred to as the upper stream of Shing Mun River) and near Mei Chung Court, May Shing Court and the Shing Mun Tunnels.

Smugglers' Ridge or Ma Tsz Keng (Chinese: 孖指徑) is a hill with a height of 337 metres (1,106 ft) in New Territories, Hong Kong. It is inside Kam Shan Country Park. A part of Shing Mun Tunnels is built underneath this hill.
