Darwen Vale High School is a coeducational secondary school located in Darwen in the English county of Lancashire. The school converted to academy status in 2014 and is part of the Aldridge Education multi-academy trust. Darwen Vale High School specialises in Dance, STEM and Engineering and work with a number of local businesses including the Lowry and BAES Systems. These specialist areas are reflected in the facilities available in the new Blackburn Road site.

St Cuthbert's Church is an Anglican church in the English market town of Darwen, Lancashire. It is an active parish church in the Diocese of Blackburn and the archdeaconry of Blackburn. The church was built 1875–1878 by Paley and Austin. It has been designated a Grade II listed building by English Heritage.

The octagonal Jubilee Tower (officially called Darwen Tower) at grid reference SD678215 on Darwen Hill overlooking the town of Darwen in Lancashire, England, was completed in 1898 to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria, while also celebrating the victory of the local people for the right to access the moor. It was opened to the public on 24 September 1898. The architect was R. W. Smith-Saville and he modified the plans for the tower slightly. The tower is 85 feet (25.9 m) in height, while Darwen Hill (also known as Beacon Hill) is 1,220 feet (370 metres) above sea-level. Walkers can climb to the top of the tower via the internal staircase to see views of North Yorkshire, Morecambe Bay, Blackpool Tower, Cumbria, the Isle of Man, North Wales, Derbyshire, elsewhere in Lancashire, and surrounding moorland.

Lower Darwen is a village in the unitary borough of Blackburn with Darwen, contiguous with the town of Darwen, in the county of Lancashire. It is located between the towns of Blackburn and Darwen. Nearby places include Ewood and Blackamoor. It is situated in the valley of the River Darwen. The former township of Lower Darwen, abolished in the 1890s, extended south to Earnsdale Brook, and included areas now in the town of Darwen.

The school offers GCSEs and A Levels with a focus on creative digital, health and child-care and business-related subjects. These are delivered through real commercial business based projects. Students also receive professional work placements.

Radio Rovers was the official radio station of the English Championship football side Blackburn Rovers FC. It was launched at Ewood Park on 30 October 1993 (originally on 1413 KHz) and was the first dedicated football club radio station in the United Kingdom. Radio Rovers broadcast for the last time in May 2017, the last home game of that year's football season. The studio was located in the 'Darwen End' stand at Ewood Park, with the station only operating on Blackburn home match days. The station broadcast on 1404 kHz AM from a small mast at the rear of the Darwen End car park, with coverage generally limited to Blackburn itself. The broadcast included pre-match build up, music, team news, and manager comments before the match, full commentary during the match and post-match analysis, interviews, and viewer phone-ins after. The channel would begin broadcasting 4 hours prior to kick off, with a typical day totalling 7 hours on air. The station broadcast a 'free to air' service under an OFCOM RSL (restricted service licence) on 1404 kHz am around Blackburn. It was also available online, and inside the stadium for visually-impaired supporters.Gerald Jackson, recognised as the voice of Radio Rovers, was a long-standing presenter, also known for his regular broadcasting on the local BBC station, Radio Lancashire. Matthew Sillitoe replaced Gerald Jackson as presenter at the start of the 2014–15 season.

Tockholes is a village and civil parish which forms part of the Blackburn with Darwen unitary authority in the English county of Lancashire, England. Tockholes consists of the village of Tockholes itself and the hamlet of Ryal Fold, and has a population of 454, increasing to 478 at the 2011 Census. It lies on the West Pennine Moors and is surrounded by the towns of Blackburn to the north and Darwen to the east and by the villages of Belmont to the south and Withnell to the west. Darwen Tower is a prominent local landmark that lies to the east of Tockholes and the Roddlesworth Reservoirs and Tockholes forest plantation lie to the south with the M65 passing to the north. There are two churches: Tockholes United Reformed Church and Saint Stephen's Church.

Blackburn Rovers Football Club is a professional football club, based in Blackburn, Lancashire, England, which competes in the EFL Championship, the second level of the English football league system. They have played home matches at Ewood Park since 1890. The club's motto is "Arte et Labore", meaning "By Skill and Hard Work" in Latin. They have a long-standing rivalry with nearby club Burnley, with whom they contest the East Lancashire derby. Blackburn Rovers was founded in 1875, becoming a founding member of The Football League in 1888. They won five FA Cup finals in the 19th century: 1884, 1885, 1886, 1890 and 1891. The team was crowned English League champions in 1911–12 and 1913–14, then won a sixth FA Cup in 1928. However, they were relegated for the first time in 1936, but returned to the top-flight as Second Division champions in 1938–39. Relegated in 1948, Rovers secured promotion again in 1957–58, but would be relegated in 1966 and again in 1971. Blackburn won the Third Division title in 1974–75, and were again promoted in 1979–80 after suffering relegation the previous year. They won the Full Members' Cup in 1987. In 1992, Rovers gained promotion to the new Premier League via the play-offs; this achievement came a year after being taken over by local entrepreneur Jack Walker, who installed Kenny Dalglish as manager. In 1994–95, Rovers became Premier League champions. Relegated just four seasons after being crowned champions, they secured promotion at the end of the 2000–01 season, and went on to win the League Cup in 2002. They spent eleven successive seasons in the Premier League, but were relegated in 2012 and again into the third tier in 2017. Blackburn secured promotion out of League One at the end of the 2017–18 season.

Ewood Park () is a football stadium in Blackburn, Lancashire, England, and the home of Blackburn Rovers F.C., founding members of the Football League and Premier League, who have played there since 1890. It is an all seater multi-sports facility with a capacity of 31,367, and four sections: the Bryan Douglas Darwen End, The Ronnie Clayton Blackburn End, the Riverside Stand, and Jack Walker Stand, named after Blackburn industrialist and club supporter, Jack Walker. The football pitch within the stadium measures 115 by 76 yards (105 m × 69 m)
