Darebin Creek

St. John's College St John’s College is an independent co-educational P-12 school, founded on the Greek Orthodox tradition. Initially established in North Carlton in 1979, the college moved to its current location in Preston in 1984. The college was founded to provide education of Greek culture and religion to Melbourne’s large Greek community. Today it accepts students from a wide range of cultures, whilst remaining under the auspices of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia. St John’s College provides a vibrant and stimulating learning environment for its students. It emphasises the importance of each student doing their personal best whilst developing self-esteem and responsibility for their place in the wider community.Over recent years, St John’s College has undergone significant refurbishment, including the addition of a new Centre for the Environment, Technology and Sustainability, with brand new science labs. In 2016 it won The Educator Innovative Schools Award for achieving improved learning outcomes for its senior students.

Alphington Grammar School is an independent, co-educational secondary school located in Alphington, Victoria, Australia, established by the Orthodox Community of Melbourne in 1988.The school was designed to reflect the cultural diversity of Melbourne, and is non-denominational with students from around 25 ethnic and religious backgrounds.

Darebin Creek Bridge is a bluestone masonry arch and concrete road bridge on Heidelberg road Alphington over Darebin Creek. It was built for Heidelberg Road Trust to a design of John C Climie CE and constructed by contractor O. H. Willison in 1864, to replace an earlier 1852 timber bridge which had fallen into a poor state of repair. The bridge was made possible as a result of funds obtained from a toll gate, established on the east side of the Darebin Creek by the Heidelberg Road Trust. The toll keeper was Henry Holloway, and the charges included one farthing for every pig that crossed the bridge and up to eighteen pence for a carriage with four horses.It was subsequently widened by the Country Roads Board (CRB) in 1937-8 probably to a design of W.A. (Allan) Ozanne. the bridge is one of the largest stone arch bridges in Victoria and among the oldest surviving bridges in Melbourne.

Darebin railway station is located on the Hurstbridge line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the north-eastern Melbourne suburb of Ivanhoe, and opened on 8 May 1922. It is the eighth least-used station on Melbourne's electrified rail network.

Ivanhoe Grammar School is an independent, co-educational, day school, located in Ivanhoe (Buckley House and The Ridgeway Campus) and Mernda (Plenty Campus), both located in the north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Founded in 1915 as St James' Grammar School for boys, Ivanhoe Grammar is a school of the Anglican Church of Australia, and caters for approximately 2,200 students from the Early Learning Centre to Year 12, across four campuses.The school is affiliated with the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference, the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia (AHISA), the Junior School Heads Association of Australia (JSHAA), and is a founding member of the Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria (AGSV). Alphington railway station is located on the Hurstbridge line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the north-eastern Melbourne suburb of Alphington, and opened on 8 May 1888.In 1966, boom barriers replaced interlocked gates at the Yarralea Street level crossing, located at the down end of the station. The signal box and a goods yard was also abolished at that time.

Willsmere was a railway station on the Outer Circle, located in the suburb of Kew, Melbourne, Australia. The station was named after the estate of early Kew settlers H.S. and Thomas Wills. Willsmere was opened with the line in 1891, and closed with it in 1893, with 2 side platforms and a loop off the main line to the south. The station platforms and buildings were believed to have been removed around 1930.

Alphington Paper Mill, which was located in Alphington, Victoria, Australia, was constructed in two years for Australian Paper Manufacturers and opened in 1921, with the Boiler House added in 1954. In 2008, the plant was closed and in 2012, the property was sold to a consortium that planned to redevelop it into a residential area.

Ivanhoe is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) north-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Banyule local government area. Ivanhoe recorded a population of 13,374 at the 2021 census.

On 23 April 2020, a drugged truck driver, Mohinder Singh, crashed his truck into a Porsche 911 and two police cars on the Eastern Freeway, in the city of Melbourne, killing four police officers who were on routine highway patrol. Prior to the incident, the officers had pulled over the Porsche driver, Richard Pusey, for speeding. After the truck ploughed into the officers, Pusey filmed them for several minutes with vulgar commentary as they lay dying, before fleeing.The crash was the biggest loss of police lives in a single incident in Victoria police’s history. Justice Paul Coghlan stated that the crash had "shocked the public conscience".

Fulham Grange was a railway station on the Outer Circle located in the suburb of Alphington, Melbourne, Australia. Located near the Grange and Heidelberg Road intersection, it was a quarter mile (0.4 km) from Fairfield Park station. Opened to serve the speculative housing estate after which it was named, it was provided with 2 side platforms, one located on a loop to the north of the main line. The station was opened with the line on 24 March 1891, and closed with it on 12 April 1893. The line through it reopened on 29 July 1919, as part of the APM Siding, closing again in the 1990s.
