Mont Vully

Haut-Vully (Arpitan: Hiôt-Vulyi) is a former municipality in the district of See/Lac in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. Until 1977, it was officially known as Vully-Le-Haut. Its German name of Oberwistenlach is now little used. On 1 January 2016 the former municipalities of Bas-Vully and Haut-Vully merged to form Mont-Vully.

Mont-Vully (French: [mɔ̃ vyji]; Arpitan: Mont-Vulyi) is a municipality in the district of See in the Canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. It was formed on 1 January 2016 when the former municipalities of Bas-Vully and Haut-Vully merged.

Grand Marais (German: Grosses Moos) in Seeland is a region in Switzerland, at the foot of the first mountain range of the Jura Mountains contained by the three lakes of Morat (Murten), Neuchâtel and Bienne (Biel). Before the huge hydrological works Jura water correction, it was a marshland that covered 62.5 km2 (24.1 sq mi). Before the correction the entire Grand Marais, along with the whole of Seeland was prone to very severe recurring floods. After the Jura water correction, the former marshland has become very valuable agricultural land and made the whole area the most important region in Switzerland for growing vegetables. The main town and centre of vegetable trading is Müntschemier. There are two prisons with surrounding agricultural compounds: Bellechasse (Witzwil) and St. Johannsen.

Bas-Vully (Arpitan: Bâs-Vulyi) is a former municipality in the district of See in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. On 1 January 2016 the former municipalities of Bas-Vully and Haut-Vully merged to form Mont-Vully.

Sugiez railway station (German: Bahnhof Sugiez, French: Gare de Sugiez) is a railway station in the municipality of Mont-Vully, in the Swiss canton of Fribourg. It is an intermediate stop on the standard gauge Fribourg–Ins line of Transports publics Fribourgeois.

Mur is a former municipality in the district of Broye-Vully in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. The municipalities of Bellerive, Chabrey, Constantine, Montmagny, Mur, Vallamand and Villars-le-Grand merged on 1 July 2011 into the new municipality of Vully-les-Lacs.

Lake Morat or Lake Murten (French: Lac de Morat [lak də mɔʁa]; German: Murtensee) is a lake located in the cantons of Fribourg and Vaud in the west of Switzerland. It is named after the small bilingual town of Murten/Morat on its southern shore. It is the smallest of the three lakes in the Seeland or Pays des trois lacs area of the Swiss plateau located at the foot of the first chain of the Jura mountains. The main tributary is the river Broye. Since the Jura water correction its water leaves the lake through the Broye Canal (Canal de la Broye) into nearby Lake Neuchâtel that is connected to Lake Bienne/Lake Biel through the Thielle canal. Thus all three lakes form a natural reservoir in order to retain overflow water from the river Aare that flows into Lake Bienne/Biel: in times of combined heavy rainfalls and glacier melting in the Alps, the peculiar situation arises that the water flows backwards through the Thielle and Broye canals, preventing an overflow of the Grand Marais (German: Grosses Moos).

Ins railway station (German: Bahnhof Ins) is a railway station in the municipality of Ins, in the Swiss canton of Bern. It is located at the junction of standard gauge Bern–Neuchâtel line of BLS AG and the standard gauge Fribourg–Ins line of Swiss Federal Railways. Aare Seeland mobil also serves the station on its 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) gauge Biel–Täuffelen–Ins line.

Ins (German: [ɪns]; French: Anet [anɛt]) is a municipality in the Seeland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Muntelier (French name: Montilier; Arpitan: Monteliér [mɔ̃tiˈʎi] ) is a municipality in the district of See in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. It is one of the municipalities with a large majority of German speakers in the mostly French speaking Canton of Fribourg.

The Battle of Morat was a battle in the Burgundian Wars (1474–1477) that was fought on 22 June 1476 between Charles the Bold, the Duke of Burgundy, and a Swiss Confederate army at Morat (Murten), about 30 kilometres from Bern. The result was a crushing defeat for the Burgundians at the hands of the Swiss.

The Justizvollzugsanstalt Witzwil (Prison Witzwil) is a men's prison in the canton of Bern, Switzerland. It consists of a closed part and a number of minimum security habitation units. The prisoners work on the institution's huge farm estate on the territories of the municipalities Erlach, Gampelen and Ins in Canton of Berne and Haut-Vully in Canton of Fribourg. Former prisoners who are yet to find employment are also allowed to work on these farms.The main seat and official address are located in the community of Gampelen.
