Shōgo-in (聖護院) is a Buddhist temple in the Shogoin-Nakamachi neighborhood of Sakyō-ku in the city of Kyoto Japan. Its honzon is an image of Fudō Myōō. It is also called the Shōgoin-monzeki (聖護院門跡), and is the central temple of the Honzan school of Shugendō in Japan, and is the head temple that governs the "Kasumi" (regional organizations that control Shugendō practitioners) throughout the country. It boasted high status. Of the 37 head priests up until the [[Meiji period], 25 were from the imperial family and 12 were from the regent family. In the late Edo period, it was used as a temporary imperial palace twice, and in due to this connection, its precincts were designated a National Historic Site in 1937.

Institute for Research in Humanities, Kyoto University (京都大学人文科学研究所, Kyōto Daigaku Jinbun Kagaku Kenkyūjo) is an institution for research at Kyoto University into the humanities and ethno-ecological studies. It has a distinctive school tradition, as heir to the philosophically oriented Kyoto School, but differs from the latter in its broader cultural interests.

Kyoto University (京都大学, Kyōto daigaku), or KyotoU (京大, Kyōdai), is a public research university located in Kyoto, Japan. Founded in 1897, it is one of the former Imperial Universities and the second oldest university in Japan. Kyoto University has generated 5 prime ministers of Japan and 1 president of Taiwan to date, and is famed for producing world-class researchers. As of October 2019, 19 Nobel Prize laureates, 2 Fields medalists, and 1 Gauss Prize winner have been affiliated with Kyoto University, giving it the most Nobel laureates of all universities in Asia. Apart from distinguished politicians and scholars, the university also counts in its alumni esteemed medical and legal professionals, writers, artists, and business leaders. KyotoU was ranked twelfth globally in Time's Higher Education's Alma Mater (Global Executives) Index in 2017, indicating the influence of its alumni on the business world. In addition, the university is the birthplace of the Kyoto School of philosophy, known for its discourse on religion and the meaning of "nothingness".

The Kyoto University Museum (京都大学総合博物館, Kyōto Daigaku Sōgō Hakubutsukan) opened in Kyōto, Japan, in 2001. It exhibits materials from the collection of some 2,600,000 objects built up by Kyoto University since its foundation as Kyoto Imperial University in 1897. Arranged in accordance with three main themes - natural, cultural, and technological history - the collection includes artefacts excavated from the Yamashina Nishinoyama Kofun (西野山古墓) that have been designated a National Treasure, several Important Cultural Properties, and materials from a number of excavations in China and Korea. The museum is part of the University Museum Association of Kyoto, a network of fourteen university museums in the city.

Yoshida Shrine (吉田神社, Yoshida jinja) is a Shinto shrine located in Sakyō-ku in Kyoto, Japan. It was founded in 859 by the Fujiwara clan.

The Heian-jingu Shrine (平安神宮, Heian-jingū) is a Shinto shrine located in Sakyō-ku, Kyoto, Japan. The Shrine is ranked as a Beppyō Jinja (別表神社) (the top rank for shrines) by the Association of Shinto Shrines. It is listed as an important cultural property of Japan.

ROHM Theatre Kyoto, originally known as Kyoto Kaikan, is a concert hall and performance venue located in Kyoto, Japan. The main hall was first opened in 1960 and seated 2,005 patrons. The facility closed in 2012 and was redeveloped over a four-year period, reopening in January 2016. As well as the main concert hall, the facility also has two additional performance spaces seating 700 and 200 guests. Kyoto-based ROHM semiconductor saved the landmark post-modernist building from possible demolition by granting ¥5.25 billion towards the cost of refurbishment. In recognition of this contribution, ROHM received naming rights to the building.

The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) is an internet technology school located in Kyoto, Japan. It offers a Master's Degree in Applied Information Technology (M. S. IT) focussing on web business technology and web systems development. The college has an international presence.

Konkaikōmyōji (金戒光明寺), also the Kurodani Temple, is a Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan. It is one of Head Temple of the Jōdo Sect of Buddhism. The graves of Aizu and Kuwana men who died at the Battle of Toba–Fushimi are located at this temple.

Hosomi Museum (細見美術館, Hosomi Bijutsukan) opened near Okazaki Park (岡崎公園) in Kyoto, Japan, in 1998. The collection, begun by Osaka industrialist Hosomi Ryō (細見良, 1901－1978), numbers some one thousand pieces including thirty Important Cultural Properties, ranging from haniwa and tea utensils to paintings of the Heian and Kamakura periods as well as by Itō Jakuchū and Katsushika Hokusai. These are exhibited on a rotating basis with four or five exhibitions each year.

Jingū-Marutamachi Station (神宮丸太町駅) is a railway station on the Keihan Ōtō Line located in Sakyō-ku, Kyoto, Japan. The station was named after Marutamachi Street as it is located where the railway beneath Kawabata Street crosses Marutamachi Street, and Heian Shrine (Heian Jingū) along Marutamachi Street. This is the second station along Marutamachi Street named Marutamachi; Marutamachi Station is on the Karasuma Line subway.

College of Medical Technology, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine (京都府立医科大学医療技術短期大学部, Kyōto Furitsu Ika daigaku Iryō Gijutsu Tanki Daigakubu) is a public junior college in Kamigyō-ku, Kyoto, Japan. The junior college opened in 1993, and closed in 2005. The predecessor of the school was founded in April 1889.
