The American Constitution Society (ACS) is a progressive legal organization. ACS was created as a counterweight to, and is modeled after, the Federalist Society, and is often described as its progressive counterpart.Founded in 2001 following to the U.S. Supreme Court decision Bush v. Gore, ACS is headquartered in Washington, D.C. The organization promotes and facilitates discussion and debate of progressive public policy ideas and issues, providing forums for legal scholars, lawmakers, judges, lawyers, public policy advocates, law students, and members of the media. ACS reports that it has approximately 200 law school student chapters and 40 lawyer chapters around the country. The group's stated mission is to "promote the vitality of the U.S. Constitution and the fundamental values it expresses: individual rights and liberties, genuine equality, access to justice, democracy and the rule of law."

The Institute of International Finance (IIF) is the association or trade group for the global financial services industry. It was created by 38 banks of leading industrialized countries in 1983 in response to the international debt crisis of the early 1980s, and has since expanded to represent more than 450 firms from more than 70 countries. IIF members include commercial and investment banks, asset managers, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, hedge funds, central banks and development banks. The IIF's mission is to support the financial industry in the prudent management of risks; to develop sound industry practices; and to advocate for regulatory, financial and economic policies that are in the broad interests of its members and foster global financial stability and sustainable economic growth. The IIF serves its membership by: Providing analysis and research to its members on emerging markets and other issues in global finance. Developing and advancing views and proposals that influence the public debate on policies, including those of multilateral agencies, and on themes of common interest to participants in global financial markets. Coordinating a network for members to exchange views and offer opportunities for dialogue among policy-makers, regulators, and private sector financial institutions.The Institute's Board of Directors includes 43 leading CEOs and Chairs, led by Chairman Axel Weber; Vice Chairmen Brian Porter (also Treasurer of the IIF), Walter Kielholz, Piyush Gupta and Candido Bracher. The IIF's President and Chief Executive Officer is Timothy D. Adams, who has held the position since February 1, 2013. The Institute is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and has satellite offices in Beijing, Singapore, Dubai and Brussels.

1333 H Street is a high-rise building in Northwest Washington, D.C. The building rises 12 floors and 157 feet (48 m) in height.

The Center for American Progress (CAP) is a public policy research and advocacy organization which presents a liberal viewpoint on economic and social issues. It has its headquarters in Washington, D.C. The president and chief executive officer of CAP is Patrick Gaspard, a former diplomat and labor leader, who served most recently as the president of the Open Society Foundations. Gaspard succeeded Neera Tanden, who was appointed special advisor to President Joe Biden in May 2021. Tanden previously worked for the Obama and Clinton administrations and for Hillary Clinton's campaigns. The first president and CEO was John Podesta, who has served as White House Chief of Staff to U.S. President Bill Clinton and as the chairman of the 2016 presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton. Podesta remained with the organization as chairman of the board until he joined the Obama White House staff in December 2013. Tom Daschle is the current chairman.The Center for American Progress has a youth-engagement organization, Generation Progress, and a sister advocacy organization, the Center for American Progress Action Fund (CAPAF).

Executive Tower (Washington, D.C.) is a high-rise office building located in the United States capital of Washington, D.C. Its construction was completed in 2001. It rises to a height of 153 feet (47 m), having 12 floors. The architect of the building was Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum.The building's tenants include Bloomberg News and the Hoover Institution.

The Washington Campus (TWC) is a non-profit, non-partisan, higher education consortium based in Washington, D.C. Consortium members and other partnering institutions include some of the world's leading universities and business schools. The Washington Campus was founded in December 1978 and held its first executive and academic programs in 1979. The lead founder of the consortium, L. William Seidman, was the former economic advisor to President Gerald Ford and the 14th Chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.The Campus' mission is to ensure that executives and students alike are given the opportunity to better understand the interactions of business, government, and public policy, in order to enhance their effectiveness as organizational leaders. With a variety of experiential programs and credit-granting courses, The Washington Campus is a unique organization that plays an essential role in management education. Approximately 1,500 participants take part in programs with The Washington Campus each year. Programs are created for and attended by Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Executive MBA students, as well as graduate accounting and select honors undergraduate students. Students from other graduate and professional schools also frequently participate in Campus programs for academic credit. This includes both joint degree students (e.g., JD-MBA, MD-MBA), as well as students from medical and law school, and from schools and programs such as Master of Public Policy and Master of Public Administration, Master of Public Health and Master of Health Administration, Master of Finance, and many other specialty masters programs.

The Capital Garage was a ten-story parking garage that once stood at 1320 New York Avenue NW in downtown Washington, D.C. It was built for the Shannon & Luchs real estate firm and designed by local architect Arthur B. Heaton, whose landmark buildings in the city include Riggs National Bank, Stockton Hall, and the Churchill Hotel. The building was designed in the Streamline Moderne architectural style with Gothic Revival features. Ornamental details on its façade included bas-reliefs of automobiles and headlights as well as lion-headed grotesques. In addition to providing parking spaces, the Capital Garage also included a gas station, carwash, repair shop, and retail space. There was a need for parking in downtown Washington, D.C., due to increased car ownership in the 1920s, and once completed, the building was reportedly the largest parking structure of its kind in the country. It proved to be popular with customers and local businesses. During World War II, the US government leased the building for government vehicles and storage space. It later housed a car dealership and was the site of a fundraiser featuring a vehicle once driven by Adolf Hitler. Due to the increase in automobile size in the 1950s and 1960s, the parking spaces became too small for many vehicles. The decrease in business eventually resulted in the Capital Garage closing in 1973. The building was imploded the following year, but several of the bas-reliefs were saved and donated to the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. The site now houses the Inter-American Development Bank office building.

Smothers School House was a school for African American students in Washington, D.C. It was located at 14th and H Streets, NW, just a few blocks from the White House, from about 1823—1862. The building was constructed in 1822—23 by Henry Smothers, a free black man who lived in Georgetown. He was the first teacher.The school had more than 100 students, making it larger than the several other city schools for African Americans. Smothers was the teacher for two years, then he was succeeded by John W. Prout in 1825. Prout appears to have called it the "Columbian Institute," perhaps because of a connection to the local learned society called the Columbian Institute for the Promotion of Arts and Sciences. Prout had an assistant teacher, Annie Marie Hall. Schooling was free to students, and funded by subscription supporters.Prout was succeeded by John F. Cook, Sr. The school was no longer free then; it required tuition. The school and Mr. Cook were attacked in 1835, as many colored schools were in the Snow Riot. Mr. Cook "escaped the city" and returned to teach again in 1836, continuing to 1855.The building changed hands several times. The Smothers Schoolhouse was used for schools run by the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul from 1858 to 1861. In 1862 it was burned down (or attacked again) and not reconstructed.

The Cooperative Hall of Fame recognizes individuals from the United States who have made outstanding contributions to cooperatives. The Hall of Fame was established in 1974 and is administered by the Cooperative Development Foundation. Nominations from the cooperative community are reviewed yearly by two committees composed of cooperative leaders. The committees make recommendations to the Board of Directors of National Cooperative Business Association (NCBA), who make the final decision.The Cooperative League of the USA (now the NCBA) announced a Hall of Fame at its 29th biennial conference in San Francisco. The Cooperative Hall of Fame and Historical Society was established in 1974. By 1990, 64 people were inducted in the Hall. The Hall is located at NCBA's headquarters in Washington, D.C. As of 2012, there are 153 inductees, dubbed "heroes" by the Hall.

Planet Word is a language arts museum that opened in Washington, D.C., in October 2020. The museum is described as "The museum where language comes to life" and features interactive exhibits dedicated to topics such as the history of the English Language, how children learn words, languages around the world, humor, poetry, and how music and advertising use words. It is located in the historic Franklin School building, designed by Adolf Cluss, located on Franklin Square at 13th and K Street.The museum was created by Ann B. Friedman, a philanthropist and former reading teacher who is married to New York Times opinion columnist Tom Friedman.Initial building renovation began in 2017. In 2018, work on the project was stopped after it was discovered that D.C. and U.S. federal preservation rules were violated in the destruction of the building's interior. A "minimal" fine was paid, work on the project continued, and the museum opened on October 22, 2020.Each exhibit focuses on a different aspect of spoken and/or signed language, with an emphasis on allowing visitors to speak or sign, manipulate, and interact with concepts. This ranges from an elaborate interactive room-sized globe to playful poetry written on bathroom walls.Speaking Willow, an interactive, motion-detecting tree sculpture, is an exhibit created by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer that whispers to visitors in hundreds of different languages as they enter the museum. This interactive sculpture was delivered by Public Art Fund in collaboration of art foundry, UAP.Other notable exhibits within the museum include First Words, Where Do Words Come From?, and The Spoken Word. In March 2022, Planet Word opened Lexicon Lane, a permanent exhibit where visitors can solve language-related “cases”. Located on the third floor of the museum, the exhibit is set up to look like a small village, within which visitor have an hour to solve a mystery by figuring out the answers to language-related puzzles and riddles.Cintas Corporation selected Planet Word as a finalist for the 2021 America’s Best Restroom Contest.In May 2022, the North American School Scrabble Championship was held live at Planet Word. Walden Giezentanner, a seventh grader, and sixth grader Nathaniel Campos were winners.

The Bond Building is an historic office building located at 1404 New York Avenue, N.W., in downtown Washington, D.C. It was designed by architect George S. Cooper in 1901. The building was constructed by Charles Henry Bond, for an estimated $300,000. A developer bought the building in 1979, and applied for a demolition permit. D.C. Superior Court Judge William E. Stewart, Jr., blocked demolition in 1980. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Masonic Temple in Washington, District of Columbia is a building from 1903. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, and is also on the D.C. Inventory List of Historic Sites. The building currently houses the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
