St. Marks River State Park which opened in 2007, is the 161st Florida State Park, located about 10 miles east of Tallahassee, south of U.S. Highway 27. The park's 2,589 acres occupy parts of Jefferson and Leon counties and act as a buffer from development for the St. Marks River.

San Juan de Aspalaga was a mission in the Apalachee Province of Spanish Florida established by Franciscans. It first appears in Spanish records in 1655, when it was located at a distance of 86 leagues from St. Augustine (the capital of Spanish Florida), which would place it in the western part of Apalachee Province. By 1675, Aspalaga had moved eastward to the archaeological site known as the Pine Tuft Site, near the present-day town of Wacissa, Florida, about 78 leagues from St. Augustine. By 1695, or at least by 1697, Aspagala had moved back to the western part of Apalachee Province. Aspagala had a population of about 800 in 1675, which had fallen to 250 by 1689. Aspalaga was overrun on June 24, 1704, by Muscogees allied with the Province of Carolina, part of the Apalachee massacre.The site where the mission stood was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on May 7, 1973.

Wacissa is a small unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Jefferson County, Florida, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 362. It shares its name with the Wacissa River, the headwaters of which are about one mile to the south.

Its studios are located in the westside of Tallahassee and its transmitter is based east of the city near Lloyd, Florida. Although based in Tallahassee, WGLF can be heard all the way into the Tifton, Georgia, and Lake City, Florida markets. WGLF has been broadcasting since the spring of 1970 and is the longest-running FM rock radio station in the state of Florida since late 1988. Prior to it, it was one out of the 2 dominant Top 40/CHR stations for the Tallahassee market. After becoming an AOR format in late 1988, WFHT (now WWOF, known as Z103) became the main dominant Top 40 station for the Tallahassee market until 1995. WGLF was one of the first four FM stations in the Tallahassee market along with WOMA, WBGM, and WOWD.

The Chaires Community Historic District is a U.S. historic district (designated as such on December 13, 2000) located in Chaires, Florida. The district runs roughly along Chaires Cross Road, Road to the Lake, and Hancock Street. It contains 15 historic buildings. With the exception of a brick Romanesque Revival Chaires Elementary School, the buildings in the district are of wooden vernacular construction. The school, built in 1929, was designed by Tallahassee architect Alvin R. Moore. Moore was also the architect of the Chipley City Hall, built in 1928.

Chaires Elementary School, formerly The Chaires School, is an elementary school located in the unincorporated community of Chaires, Florida in eastern Leon County. Under the name Station One School, it appeared in Leon County School Board minutes in the 1870s. At that time, it served grades 1–10. It was racially segregated and served only white students.

Sollner-Wall House is a national historic site located at 1759 Chaires Cross Road, Tallahassee, Florida in Leon County. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 9, 2012.
