Balaka is a movie theater located in New Market, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Balaka Cineworld, one of the oldest movie theaters in the country, was closed on 20 March 2020 for COVID-19 epidemic, but reopened on 29 September 2022.

National Academy for Planning and Development (NAPD) is a Government of Bangladesh Ministry of Planning not-for-profit training and research institution that specializes in post-graduate education in related to public management and development. The Academy started in 3 February in 1985. It was made a statutory organization in 2014.

On October 21, 2020, a building of Chandni Chowk caught fire.

Tokai Market (Bengali: টোকাই মার্কেট) is a commercial shopping market in north of Azimpur, Dhaka. It is situated on the opposite side of Chandni Chowk.

University Laboratory School and College also known as ULAB, is a school and college located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is on the campus of Institute of Education and Research, Dhaka University, Nilkhet Road, Dhaka and is under the institute's management. It is a part of Institute of Education and Research.

Nilkhet (নীলক্ষেত) is a neighbourhood in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. It is located between Dhaka University to the east, Mirpur Road and New Market to the west, and Elephant Road to the north. The name Nilkhet (nil: blue or indigo, khet: field) implies that the area may have been used for indigo cultivation in earlier times. However, Nilkhet has a completely different identity today. Because of its proximity to Dhaka University, Dhaka Medical College and BUET, as well as several major colleges such as Dhaka College, Eden College and College of Home Economics the Nilkhet market has also become a major source of academic material for the city's students. Textbooks of all levels (from primary to tertiary) and for all disciplines may be purchased at Nilkhet. It also has many shops that provide auxiliary services for students, such as photocopying, word-processing and book-binding. Indeed, “photocopying at Nilkhet” is a common rite of passage for nearly all students of nearby universities during their undergraduate and postgraduate years.

Azimpur (Bengali: আজিমপুর) is an old region in the old part of Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh. The region is named after Shahzada Azam, son of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Other accounts attribute the name to Azim-us-Shaan, the Nayeb-e-Nazim of Dhaka during the early 18th century. This area started to decay in the colonial era. In 1850 Azimpur shown as a no man's land in the map of surveyor general. In 1950 this area redesigned as the government employee's residence.

Mangal Shobhajatra or Mangal Shovajatra (Bengali: মঙ্গল শোভাযাত্রা) is a mass procession that takes place at dawn on the first day of the Bengali New Year in Bangladesh. The procession is organised by the teachers and students of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Dhaka. The festival is considered an expression of the secular identity of the Bangladeshi people and as a way to promote unity. It was declared an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2016, categorised on the representative list as a heritage of humanity.

The University of Dhaka (also known as Dhaka University, or abbreviated as DU) is a public research university located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the oldest university in Bangladesh. On the first day of July 1921, the university opened its doors to students. Today, it is the largest public research university in Bangladesh, with a student body of 37,018 and a faculty of 1,992. It was identified by AsiaWeek as one of the top 100 universities in Asia.Nawab Bahadur Sir Khwaja Salimullah, who played a pioneering role in establishing the university in Dhaka, donated 600 acres of land from his estate for this purpose.It has made significant contributions to the modern history of Bangladesh. Its students and teachers played a central role in the rise of Bengali nationalism and the independence of Bangladesh in 1971. The university's distinguished alumni include Muhammad Yunus (winner 2006 Nobel Peace Prize, pioneer of microcredit), Natyaguru Nurul Momen (pioneer litereteur, theatre & cultural doyen; who was both an early student and teacher of DU), Muhammad Shahidullah (educator, philologist and linguist), Serajul Islam Choudhury (the country's leading public intellectual and writer), Rehman Sobhan (social democratic economist), Mohammad Ataul Karim (physicist), Abul Fateh (one of the founding fathers of South Asian diplomacy), Buddhadeb Bose (20th-century Bengali poet), Lotay Tshering (prime minister of Bhutan) and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (the founding father of Bangladesh). It also enjoyed associations with Satyendra Nath Bose, Vijayaraghavan, and Kazi Nazrul Islam.

Dhaka College (Bengali: ঢাকা কলেজ also known as DC) is the oldest secular educational institution of Bangladesh located in Dhaka. It offers higher secondary education (HSC). It has Honours and Masters programs as well which are affiliated to the University of Dhaka.

Eden Mohila College (known as Eden College), is a women's college in Azimpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was established in 1873 in the Farashganj area of Dhaka. In 1878 the school was named after Ashley Eden, Lieutenant Governor of Bengal. The college moved to its present premises in 1963. It is affiliated with the University of Dhaka as of 16 February 2017.
