North Queensferry railway station

North Queensferry is a village in Fife, Scotland, situated on the Firth of Forth where the Forth Bridge, the Forth Road Bridge, and the Queensferry Crossing all meet the Fife coast, 9 miles (14 kilometres) from the centre of Edinburgh. It is the southernmost settlement in Fife. The prefix North serves to distinguish it from South Queensferry, on the opposite shore of the Forth. Both towns derive their name from the ferry service established by Queen Margaret in the 11th century, which continued to operate at the town until 1964, when the Road Bridge was opened. According to the 2011 census, the village has a population of 1,076.

Jamestown is a hamlet in Fife, Scotland, on the south side of Inverkeithing's Inner Bay. The nearby Jamestown Viaduct carries the Fife Circle Line over the hamlet, and the M90 passes by to the west. Jamestown takes its name from James Reid, who converted the 19th century chemical works situated here into dwellings. In the 1850s, the Ordnance Survey described it as "a cluster of cottage houses occupied by workmen employed in the different quarries in the neighbourhood". Jamestown's prominent Naval Base Mansions were built in 1909 to house labourers from the dockyard at Rosyth. The building is B-listed, and is now used as a furniture store. There was formerly a Roman Catholic chapel in Jamestown, built to serve the many Irish dockworkers who came to the area. Opened in 1913 and dedicated to St Peter in Chains, it was replaced by a new church in Inverkeithing in 1977. The area's Irish heritage is referenced in the name of Shamrock Terrace, a block of tenements at the bottom of Ferryhills Road.

The Forth Bridge is a cantilever railway bridge across the Firth of Forth in the east of Scotland, 9 miles (14 kilometres) west of central Edinburgh. Completed in 1890, it is considered a symbol of Scotland (having been voted Scotland's greatest man-made wonder in 2016), and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was designed by English engineers Sir John Fowler and Sir Benjamin Baker. It is sometimes referred to as the Forth Rail Bridge (to distinguish it from the adjacent Forth Road Bridge), although this is not its official name. Construction of the bridge began in 1882 and it was opened on 4 March 1890 by the Duke of Rothesay, the future Edward VII. The bridge carries the Edinburgh–Aberdeen line across the Forth between the villages of South Queensferry and North Queensferry and has a total length of 8,094 feet (2,467 m). When it opened it had the longest single cantilever bridge span in the world, until 1919 when the Quebec Bridge in Canada was completed. It continues to be the world's second-longest single cantilever span, with a span of 1,709 feet (521 m). The bridge and its associated railway infrastructure are owned by Network Rail.

Inchgarvie or Inch Garvie is a small, uninhabited island in the Firth of Forth. On the rocks around the island sit four caissons that make up the foundations of the Forth Bridge. Inchgarvie's fortifications pre-date the modern period. In the days when boats were the only way to cross the Firth of Forth, the island was on the main route between North Queensferry in Fife and South Queensferry in Lothian. This made it strategically important. Although now uninhabited, Inchgarvie has been inhabited throughout various periods of history. The first recorded time was in the late 15th century. Like nearby Inchmickery, its profile and colour makes it look like a small warship from a distance. It was armed with coast defence guns from 1901 until 1906, and again from 1908 until the 1930s.

The Forth Road Bridge is a suspension bridge in east central Scotland. The bridge opened in 1964 and at the time was the longest suspension bridge in the world outside the United States. The bridge spans the Firth of Forth, connecting Edinburgh, at South Queensferry, to Fife, at North Queensferry. It replaced a centuries-old ferry service to carry vehicular traffic, cyclists and pedestrians across the Forth; railway crossings are made by the nearby Forth Bridge, opened in 1890. The Scottish Parliament voted to scrap tolls on the bridge from February 2008. The adjacent Queensferry Crossing was opened in August 2017 to carry the M90 motorway across the Firth of Forth, replacing the Forth Road Bridge which had exceeded its design capacity. At its peak, the Forth Road Bridge carried 65,000 vehicles per day. The Forth Road Bridge was subsequently closed for repairs and refurbishment. It reopened in February 2018, now redesignated as a dedicated Public Transport Corridor, with access to motor vehicles other than buses and taxis restricted; pedestrians and cyclists are still permitted to use the bridge. In May 2023, Stagecoach Fife started the first driverless bus service to carry passengers in the United Kingdom along a park-and-ride route which includes the Forth Road Bridge as its main section.

Ballast Bank Park is a public park in the town of Inverkeithing in Fife, Scotland. Located on the banks of Inverkeithing Bay on the Firth of Forth, the park is host to the annual Inverkeithing Highland Games, as well as other community events.

Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts Football Club are a Scottish football club based at Dalgety Bay Sports centre in the town of Dalgety Bay, Fife. They compete in the East of Scotland League Premier Division, the sixth tier of Scottish football, having joined the league with their senior team in 2018 and gaining promotion from the First Division in 2020.The club was founded in 1996 as Inverkeithing Boys Club, before changing their name to Inverkeithing Blue Brazil a year later. Their current name was adopted in 2000.For the 2021–22 season, the senior team is playing matches at Dalgety Bay Sports & Leisure Centre in the neighbouring town of Dalgety Bay.

Inverkeithing Harbour is a harbour on Inverkeithing Bay, located in Inverkeithing in Fife, Scotland. Originally built before 1587, the present harbour was constructed in the late 18th century. The harbour is category B listed by Historic Scotland.
