Swan pharmacy or Svaneapoteket in Bergen, Norway is the oldest pharmacy in Norway. It was established in 1595. The original building burned down in a fire in 1916 and it was rebuilt by the architects Fredrik Arnesen and Darre Kaarbø. A replica of the metal swan at the entrance still stands above its entrance in Strandgaten. Bergen was a pioneer town where people went to make wealth by fishing or working in the timber or fur industry. The first pharmacist to work there was the Dutchman Lambert Gregerson Friis and he was shortly joined by another Dutch apothecary Nicolas de Freundt who also had no formal training but applied for a permit to Christian IV. The permits was received in December 13, 1595 by Freundt who was given the right to start two pharmacies which were sold some years later but only the Swan pharmacy remained and moved to Danish hands. A second Swan apothecary was opened in Oslo by Dane Baltsar Brabant in 1628. The swan was a symbol of intelligence and purity and was widely used symbols by medieval apothecaries in Finland and Denmark. The building is now a part of the pharmacy chain Apotek 1.

Bergen Light Rail (Norwegian: Bybanen) is a light rail system in Bergen, Norway. The first stage of the project was a twenty-station stretch between the city center and Lagunen Storsenter, where the first 15 stations comprising a 9.8-kilometre (6.1 mi) stretch opened in 2010, and the second was a 3.6-kilometre (2.2 mi) stretch from Nesttun to Lagunen which opened in June 2013. A third stretch from Lagunen to Bergen Airport, Flesland opened in 2017. The second line between Kaigaten and Fyllingsdalen opened on 21 November 2022. Further plans for the project involve mooted extensions to Åsane and Storavatnet.Plans for rail transit have existed since the 1970s, following the 1965 closing of the Bergen Tramway. A rapid transit design was first discarded, and in the 1990s a light rail line was proposed. The decision to start construction was made in 2005. The first stage was built by the municipality, with financing from the state and the toll road ring, based on the Bergen Program. Ownership, maintenance and further extensions and vehicles are the responsibility of Hordaland County Municipality through its wholly owned subsidiary Bybanen AS. Operation is governed by public service obligation contracts issued by the county public transport authority Skyss. From 2010 to 2017 the line and its 20 Variobahn trams were operated by Keolis Norge (formerly Fjord1 Partner).

Bergen District Court (Norwegian: Bergen tingrett) was a district court in Vestland county, Norway. The court was based in the city of Bergen at the Bergen Courthouse at Tårnplads 2 in Bergen. The court existed until 2021. It had jurisdiction over the Nordhordland, Midhordland, and Voss regions in the county. This included the municipalities of Gulen, Fedje, Austrheim, Masfjorden, Modalen, Alver, Askøy, Øygarden, Osterøy, Vaksdal, Voss, Austevoll, Bjørnafjorden, Samnanger, and Bergen. Cases from this court could be appealed to Gulating Court of Appeal.The court was a court of first instance. Its judicial duties were mainly to settle criminal cases and to resolve civil litigation as well as bankruptcy. The administration and registration tasks of the court included death registration, issuing certain certificates, performing duties of a notary public, and officiating civil wedding ceremonies. Cases from this court were heard by a combination of professional judges and lay judges.

Midthordland District Court (Norwegian: Midthordland tingrett) was a district court in Hordaland county, Norway. The court was based in Bergen. The court existed until 2006. It had jurisdiction over the Midthordland area which included the municipalities of Austevoll, Sund, Fjell, Askøy, Os, Fusa, and Samnanger. Cases from this court could be appealed to Gulating Court of Appeal. The court was a court of first instance. Its judicial duties were mainly to settle criminal cases and to resolve civil litigation as well as bankruptcy. The administration and registration tasks of the court included death registration, issuing certain certificates, performing duties of a notary public, and officiating civil wedding ceremonies. Cases from this court were heard by a combination of professional judges and lay judges.

Nordhordland District Court (Norwegian: Nordhordland tingrett) was a district court in Norway serving the Nordhordland and Midhordland (except for the city of Bergen) in Hordaland county, as well as Gulen Municipality in Sogn og Fjordane county. The court served the municipalities of Askøy, Austevoll, Austrheim, Fedje, Fjell, Fusa, Gulen, Lindås, Masfjorden, Meland, Modalen, Os, Osterøy, Radøy, Samnanger, Sund, Vaksdal, Voss, and Øygarden. The court was subordinate to the Gulating Court of Appeal. The court was led by the chief judge (Sorenskriver). The Nordhordland District Court was co-located with the Bergen District Court at the Bergen Tinghus at Tårnplads 2 in Bergen. The court was a court of first instance. Its judicial duties were mainly to settle criminal cases and to resolve civil litigation as well as bankruptcy. The administration and registration tasks of the court included death registration, issuing certain certificates, performing duties of a notary public, and officiating civil wedding ceremonies. Torgallmenningen, Torgalmenningen, or Torvallmenningen, is the main square of Bergen, Norway.

Den Nationale Scene (English: National Theater) is the largest theatre in Bergen, Norway. Den Nationale Scene is also one of the oldest permanent theatres in Norway.

Det norske Theater is a former theatre in Bergen, Norway, and regarded as the first pure Norwegian stage theatre. It opened in 1850 (1850) by primus motor, violinist Ole Bull, and closed in 1863 (1863), after a bankruptcy. The theatre's first production was Holberg's comedy Den Vægelsindede, and the opening was on 2 January 1850. The theatre played at the old comedy house built in 1800.In 1876 the theatre Den Nationale Scene opened in the same building.

The West Norway Museum of Decorative Art (Norwegian: Permanenten Vestlandske kunstindustrimuseum), also referred to as KODE 1, is located in Bergen, Norway. It was established in 1887 at the initiative of Johan Bøgh. In 1896 the museum moved into a permanent exhibition building, a Renaissance Revival structure designed by Henry Bucher (1864–1944). The building caught fire during the 1916 Bergen fire but was saved. The collections include older local works in silver, furniture, glass, porcelain, and textiles. Upon its opening, the museum received substantial donations from the merchant Christian Sundt.During the first years, the Bergen Art Gallery occupied the top floor. The collection was then moved from there to the former power plant building (Norwegian: Lysverksbygget) after it became available. The Fisheries Museum also occupied the ground floor. After merging with Bergen Art Museum, the museum has been a venue for more temporary exhibitions. Its emphasis remains on crafts from the past 500 years, and also its Chinese Collection, a unique assembly of Chinese art. This is mostly a bequest from Johan Wilhelm Normann Munthe (1864–1935), who lived in China from age 22 until his death in 1935. The museum was also responsible for the Alvøen site and Damsgård Manor, but this has now been taken over by the new Bergen City Museum.

The Buekorps Museum (Buekorpsmuseet) is a museum in Bergen, Norway. It is dedicated to the traditional neighborhood youth marching organization, Buekorps. The Buekorps Museum was established in 1977 and is located in Murhvelvingen on Østre Muralmenning. Murhvelvingen was constructed as a private residence after a great fire disaster in Bergen in 1561. Construction was directed by nobleman Erik Ottesen Rosenkrantz til Arreskov (1519-1575), who was commander Bergenhus from 1560 to 1568. The building was damaged by fires in 1625, 1640, and 1643 and was repaired in 1651–52. The current pavilion was built after the Bergen fire of 1702.

Det Akademiske Kvarter, more commonly known as Kvarteret, is a student cultural center in Bergen, Norway. It is situated on Olav Kyrres gate in the center of Bergen, within walking distance of both the main shopping areas and the University of Bergen.

The Sacking of Bergen in 1393 was one of two attacks on Bergen by the Victual Brothers, a former trading guild turned to piracy. The second attack was many years later, in 1429. The Victual Brothers raided the town, pillaged and looted goods and killed the garrison and possibly also civilians. After they had taken control they proceeded to burn down the town before leaving with their booty.
