San Barnaba, Venice

Campo San Barnaba is a campo (square) in the Dorsoduro sestiere of Venice, Italy. The neighborhood's church is the San Barnaba. It has been featured in numerous films, including Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade where it served as the exterior to the library.

Ponte dei Pugni ("Bridge of Fists") is a bridge in Venice, Italy and considered one of the most famous "fighting bridges" in the city located near Campo San Barnaba in Dorsoduro.The top of the bridge has the impression of four footprints, marking the starting position of the fighters when rival clans would gather to fight and throw each other in to the canal. The rivalry between the Nicolotti and the Castellani clans at the bridge dates back to the 14th century. The tradition was ended in the early 18th century after a 1705 altercation led to "bloodbath" with knives and stones. One of the paintings of Joseph Heintz the Younger (Contest on the Fists Bridge in Venice by Joseph Hines, Jr., 1673) depicts the popular fun in Venice – battagliole sui ponti (battle on the bridge) – an annual competition between the inhabitants the eastern and western sestiere.

Ca' Rezzonico (Italian pronunciation: [ˈka rretˈtsɔːniko]) is a palazzo and art museum on the Grand Canal in the Dorsoduro sestiere of Venice, Italy. It is a particularly notable example of the 18th century Venetian baroque and rococo architecture and interior decoration, and displays paintings by the leading Venetian painters of the period, including Francesco Guardi and Giambattista Tiepolo. It is a public museum dedicated to 18th-century Venice (Museo del Settecento Veneziano) and one of the 11 venues managed by the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia.

Le Eremite is a small Catholic church in the Dorsoduro area of Venice, Italy. It was built at the end of the 17th century for Augustinian nuns. It formed part of a larger complex which included a convent and schools run by the nuns. The schools ran until the middle of the last century and taught children of all ages - from infants to high school. The church is dedicated to Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Construction was completed in 1694.

Since its foundation in 1868, it has been housed in the Venetian Gothic palace of Ca' Foscari, from which it takes its name. The palace stands on the Grand Canal, between the Rialto and San Marco, in the sestiere of Dorsoduro. Ca' Foscari became a full fledged university in 1968. It currently has eight departments and almost 21,000 students. Ca' Foscari's teaching and research is centred around economics & business, humanities, and modern languages. In 2017 Ca' Foscari's economics department was ranked as Italy's 3rd best, surpassed by University of Bologna and University of Padua, while it in general ranked of 5th out of 89 universities.

Ca' Foscari, the palace of the Foscari family, is a Gothic building on the waterfront of the Grand Canal in the Dorsoduro sestiere of Venice, Italy. It was built for the doge Francesco Foscari in 1453, and designed by the architect Bartolomeo Bon. It is now the main seat of Ca' Foscari University of Venice. The palace is located on the widest bend of the Grand Canal. Here, during the annual Regata Storica (Historical Regatta), held on the first Sunday in September, a floating wooden structure known as La Machina is placed (from this structure the Venetian authorities watch the race); this is also the site of the finishing line, and the venue for prize-giving.

Located in the Dorsoduro sestiere (quarter), it was called "dell'Ambasciatore" because it was offered as a home of the ambassadors of the Austrian Empire to the Republic by Doge Francesco Loredan.

Campo Santa Margherita is a city square in the sestiere of Dorsoduro of Venice, Italy. It is located near university buildings and serves as a gathering place for students at the end of the day. Historically, the square had been host to various shops catering to local residents, but these have been replaced with bars, cafes and eateries catering to students and younger tourists.With a total area of 8,045 m², the square has an oblong shape. The main alleyways leading to Campo Santa Margherita are located in the north and the south, but there is access at the midway as well.

Dorsoduro is one of the six sestieri of Venice, in northern Italy. Dorsoduro includes the highest land areas of the city and also Giudecca island and Isola Sacca Fisola. Its name derives from the Italian for "hard ridge", due to its comparatively high, stable land.

The Palazzo Moro Lin, also called the palace of 13 windows is a baroque-style palace on the Grand Canal, located between the Palazzo Grassi and the Palazzo da Lezze, in the sestiere of San Marco, in Venice, Italy. The palace was built in 1670 by design of Sebastiano Mazzoni, and made for the painter Pietro Liberi. The palace interior has frescoes by Antonio Bellucci, Antonio Molinari, and Gregorio Lazzarini. The palace was soon bought by the Lin family. At the death of Michele Anzolo Lin in 1788, the palace was inherited by his niece Elisabetta, the wife of Gasparo Moro of San Trovaso, who afterwards called themselves Moro-Lin. In 1942 it was purchased by the Milanese industrialist Enrico Ghezzi.
