Northop (Welsh: Llaneurgain) is a village, community and electoral ward situated in Flintshire, Wales, approximately 12 miles west of the city of Chester, midway between Mold and Flint, and situated just off junction 33 of the A55 North Wales Expressway. At the 2001 Census, the population of Northop was 2,983, increasing to 3,049 at the 2011 census. The community includes Sychdyn. The village is home to two pubs, a cricket club, and a golf course. At the centre of the village stands the church of St Eurgain and St Peter, towering 98 feet above the village. Northop College based in Northop, offering horticultural courses for students of all ages, in areas such as Animal Care, floristry, Horse Care, Horticulture and agricultural machinery. Wrexham University has a campus based in Northop; this is the university's home for land-based and rural education, and a centre for courses on animal studies and biodiversity.

The Flintshire Coalfield in north-east Wales is one of the smaller British coalfields. It is in the county of Flintshire and extends from the Point of Ayr in the north, along the Dee Estuary through Connah's Quay to Caergwrle in the south. A small part extends onto the Wirral i.e. English coast of the estuary at Neston, Cheshire which was the site of a coalmine for a period. The coal-bearing strata continue southwards of Caergwrle as the Denbighshire Coalfield. Together the two coalfields are known as the North Wales Coalfield.

Alyn and Deeside (Welsh: Alun a Glannau Dyfrdwy) is a parliamentary constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom (at Westminster). The constituency was created in 1983, and it elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first-past-the-post method of election. The Alyn and Deeside Senedd constituency was created with the same boundaries in 1999. The constituency is to retain its name and gain wards, as part of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies and under the June 2023 final recommendations of the Boundary Commission for Wales for the next United Kingdom general election.

Sychdyn or Soughton (meaning South Town) is a village in Flintshire, Wales. It is situated on the A5119 road, and is just over 1000 yards (1 km) north of the county town of Mold. Soughton is the traditional name for the village in English, however Sychdyn is the name used by Flintshire County Council (sanctioned since 1954), Northop Community Council, the BBC, local media (depending on publication usage is mixed), Ordnance Survey and the Welsh Language Commissioner.In 1086, the village was listed in Domesday Book as a small settlement situated within the hundred of Ati's Cross and the county of Cheshire. However, it was back under Welsh control by the following century, and Llywelyn ap Gruffudd is on record as having visited in the late thirteenth century. Sychdyn, which is surrounded by farmland and undisturbed woodland, is today a commuter village with residents working in nearby Chester, Wrexham, Liverpool or Manchester. The village contains the 'Cross Keys Pub' public house, a convenience store, Bryn Seion Chapel (now sold and no longer a Chapel), horse riding school, and a primary school, Sychdyn County Primary. Soughton Hall is a large country mansion-turned-hotel situated on the northern outskirts of the village. Notable guests that have stayed here include Luciano Pavarotti, Michael Jackson, King Juan Carlos I of Spain and Richard Burton. Lower Soughton Hall is situated about 1 mile (1.5 km) to the north of Soughton Hall, and is currently owned by the footballer Michael Owen. Sychdyn Memorial Hall is the home to many different societies including the Youth Club and Red Dragon Lans. The hall can be hired out for special occasions. Sychdyn also has a bowling green, football pitch and all-weather pitch, which can be booked for games and matches. The bowling green is entered via a War Memorial Arch, which was erected to those who died serving in the First World War. Sychdyn Carnival takes place each year to raise funds to maintain and upkeep the village playground, this is held on the main playing field, where the Rose Queen is crowned after the carnival procession's annual parade through the village. Sychdyn has a football team which currently plays in the Clwyd League East Championship Division, playing their home games at Northop Hall Pavilion. It is currently managed by Rhys Edwards. Former professional footballer Harry Beadles died at Sychdyn in retirement in 1958.

New Brighton (Welsh: New Brighton; sometimes unofficially Pentre Cythraul, 'devil's village') is a small village in Flintshire, in north-east Wales. It lies between the towns of Mold and Buckley, in the community of Argoed. New Brighton lies on the A5119 road and has a hotel, the Beaufort Park Hotel. A New Brighton electoral ward exists, formed from the northern half of the Argoed community, with a total population taken at the 2011 census of 3,001. It forms part of an "Argoed and New Brighton" (Welsh: Argoed a New Brighton) council electoral ward.Some residents refer to it by its Welsh name Pentre Cythraul, though the Welsh name was not recognised by the Welsh Language Commissioner in 2018, causing local people to ask for this to be reviewed. Pentre Cythraul translates to "the devil's village", although said to have been possibly derived from Pentre Catherall, named after industrialist Josiah Catherall who built some of the village's rows of houses. In their list of standardised Welsh place-names in Flintshire as of November 2023, the Commissioner states the recommended name in Welsh, for Flintshire County Council to use, is "New Brighton".

Theatr Clwyd (Welsh pronunciation: [ˈθeːatr ˈklʊɨd]) is a regional arts centre and producing theatre 1 mile (1.6 km) from Mold, Flintshire, in North East Wales. It opened as Theatr Clwyd in 1976, but was known between 1998 and 2015 as Clwyd Theatr Cymru, before reverting to its original name.

Maes y Grug is a Site of Special Scientific Interest at Alltami in the preserved county of Clwyd, north Wales. The site was a former colliery and consists of a large pond surrounded by deciduous woodland along with smaller ponds, marshland and grassland surrounded by farmland used for grazing. The site has SSSI status due mainly to the presence of the Great Crested Newt and is a Special area of Conservation (SAC). Access to the site is by footpath from the car park.North East Wales Wildlife and Flintshire County Council own the site.

Mold Law Courts is a Crown Court venue, which deals with criminal cases, as well as a County Court venue, which deals with civil cases, in Raikes Lane, Mold, Flintshire, Wales.

Northop College in Flintshire, North Wales is jointly operated by Glyndwr University and Coleg Cambria. Formerly known as the Welsh College of Horticulture and Northop College, it became part of Coleg Cambria when Deeside College merged with Yale College, Wrexham in August 2013. Degree level courses at the college are run by Glyndwr University. Coleg Cambria consists of six campuses including Deeside, Yale Grove Park, Yale Bersham Road, Llysfasi, Northop and Wrexham Training. The encompassed college offers a wide range of courses from Further Education to HNC's and Foundation Degrees for full and part-time students, apprentices and part-time community learners. Coleg Cambria Northop also offers further and higher education courses and work-based learning studies, it also provides a variety of professional short courses and leisure programmes. Furthermore, the student numbers have increased in recent years, there are approximately 3,000 full-time and 10,000 part-time students. (The Independent, 2018) Coleg Cambria Northop College specialises in the following subjects: Animal Care / Management, Equine care / Management, Floristry and Horticulture studies.(National Land Based College, 2018)

County Hall (Welsh: Neuadd y Sir Yr Wyddgrug) is a municipal facility at Raikes Lane in Mold, Flintshire. It was the headquarters of the old Flintshire County Council from 1967 to 1974, the headquarters of Clwyd County Council from 1974 to 1996 and has been the headquarters of the new Flintshire County Council since 1996.

Northop Hall Cricket Club Ground is a cricket ground in Northop Hall, Flintshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1908, In 1985 Welsh Schools played Scotland Under-19s. In 1992, Wales Minor Counties played a MCCA Knockout Trophy match against Staffordshire, representing the Welsh side's first use of the ground. The following year, Wales Minor Counties played, what is to date the only Minor Counties Championship match held at the ground against Oxfordshire. In 1995, Wales Minor Counties played Cumberland in the MCCA Knockout Trophy, in what is to date the Welsh side's last visit to the ground.The ground has also held a single List-A match which came in the 1994 NatWest Trophy which saw Wales Minor Counties play Middlesex.In local domestic cricket, Northop Hall Cricket Club Ground is the home ground of Northop Hall Cricket Club who play in the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition.

Flint Mountain (Welsh: Mynydd-y-Fflint) is a small village seated in Flintshire, North Wales, approximately 12 miles west of the city of Chester, midway between Mold and Flint, and situated just off junction 33 of the A55 North Wales Expressway. Points of interest include the Coach and Horses pub, and recently developed football club Flint Mountain FC (now named Halkyn & Flint Mountain F.C.). In mid-2006, the population of Flint Mountain was 1,958.On clear days to the north and east, The Wirral can be seen.
