Swaminarayan Mandir Vasna Sanstha (SMVS) is a Hindu denomination within the Swaminarayan Sampradaya. It was founded in 1987 by Devnandandasji Swami, usually addressed as HDH Bapji by his devotees and followers, It propagates the preaching and teaching of Swaminarayan as explained by Devnandandasji Swami. Its current leader is Jivanpran Abajibapashri. Multifaceted activities in areas like social, cultural, educational, religious fields are carried out by SMVS under the directions and guidance of Bapji and his second in-command and current Guru Satyasankalpdasji Swami, who is usually addressed as HDH Swamishri. From a modest beginning in 1987, SMVS has developed into a multifaceted institution. SMVS has 100 main centres throughout Gujarat and abroad, wherein 100 saints, 100 lady saints, and about 10,000 volunteers are entrusted religious duties. Many of their saints and devotees have visited India, UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Dubai, and other parts of the world to propagate preaching and teaching of Sahajanand Swami and also to monitor construction and expansion of SMVS Swaminarayan temples as well as other related religious and cultural activities such as functioning of medical centres, old age homes, schools, hospitals, and other charities. SMVS operates in the educational field, medical-health services, tribal upliftment, natural calamities, etc. through SMVS Charities, a separate non-profit aid organization which has spearheaded a number of projects.

Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 26 Lok Sabha (lower house of Indian Parliament) constituencies in Gujarat, a state in Western India. Gandhinagar is the capital of Gujarat . It is one of the most prestigious parliamentary constituencies in India, being represented by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani and the current Home Minister and former BJP chief Amit Shah. The constituency was created in 1967 and its first member of parliament (MP) was Somchandbhai Solanki of the Indian National Congress (INC). Solanki represented the Indian National Congress (Organisation) party for the next elections in 1971 and was re-elected. In the 1977 election, Purushottam Mavalankar (son of the first Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Ganesh Vasudev Mavalankar) of the Janata Party was elected. Mavalankar was defeated in the next election in 1980 by INC candidate, Amrit Mohanal Patel. I.G. Patel also of the INC was elected in 1984. Since 1989 this constituency has been a bastion of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Shankersinh Vaghela won in the 1989 election and the next election saw L. K. Advani elected in 1991. Atal Bihari Vajpayee won this seat in 1996 but chose to resign it so that he could represent Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. This forced a by-election which was won by Vijay Patel, who defeated film actor Rajesh Khanna (INC), among other candidates. The constituency has been represented by one Prime Minister (Vajpayee), one future Chief Minister (Vaghela), and two Home Ministers in Advani and Amit Shah.

Gandhinagar district is an administrative division of Gujarat, India, whose headquarters are at Gandhinagar, the state capital. It was organized in 1964. It has an area of 2140 km², and a population of 1,391,753 of which 43.16% lives in urban regions (2011 census). The district includes Gandhinagar with two Suburbs - Motera, Adalaj. The four tehsils are - Gandhinagar, Kalol, Dahegam and Mansa - and 216 villages. Gandhinagar district is bounded by the districts of Sabarkantha and Aravalli to the northeast, Kheda to the southeast, Ahmedabad to the southwest, and Mehsana to the northwest. Connected to Ahmedabad by the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar highway, and with Vadodara with the Ahmedabad-Vadodara highway, these three cities form the top population centres and commercial heart of Gujarat and western India. Because of the division of the old Mumbai State, the State of Gujarat was formed on 1 May 1960. Because of the development of the territory of Gujarat, the capital of the state was kept at Ahmedabad. At that point, to diminish populace thickness of Ahmedabad city, Gandhinagar, the new capital of the territory of Gujarat, was set up. The city of Gandhinagar was set up on 2 August 1965. It is one of the major Hindu Temple complex of Gujarat. Gandhinagar has many educational institutions. With 87.11% its education level is highest in Gujarat.
