Marine Academy Plymouth

Marine Academy Detachment (not to be confused with Marine Academy Plymouth) is an Army Cadet Force Detachment (formerly Platoon) situated within the school grounds of Marine Academy Plymouth. The Detachment is part of Devon ACF, B Company (Plymouth ACF).

King's Tamerton is a suburb of Plymouth in the county of Devon, England. It was largely built post-war adjacent to St Budeaux and overlooking the Naval base and the Hamoaze which is the wide estuary of the River Tamar. Schools in the area include Marine Academy Plymouth.

St Philip's Church is a Church of England church in Weston Mill, Plymouth, Devon, England. The original church was built between 1912 and 1913 and was demolished for housing in 2014. The adjacent former church hall of 1981 has been the present St Philip's Church since 2012.

Weston Mill is a district in the ward of Ham, which is part of the City of Plymouth, Devon, England. It consists of two parts Weston Mill Village which was first mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1155 and the other part which dates to the Victorian period, they are separated by Weston Mill Hill, which is the only street with this name. It shares its borders with Ham Woods Nature Reserve, King's Tamerton, St. Budeaux and Camels Head. The area derived its name from being the mill belonging to the tithing, Geoffrey de Weston. It is situated close to the major naval base Devonport Dockyard, and the majority of the housing in the area is privately owned. The A3064 'St. Budeaux Bypass' also runs through the area. Together with King's Tamerton the area's population in the 2001 census, was 4,647, of which 50.2 per cent were male and 49.8 per cent were female. Between 1906 and 1921 Weston Mill Halt on the London and South Western Railway line to Plymouth Friary served the area.

Weston Mill Halt railway station was named after a mill and quay with its lime kiln sitting on Weston Mill Lake next to the River Tamar. The small settlement of Weston Mill also lay near by and the halt was opened as part of Plymouth's suburban network development, together with other halts such as the nearby Camels Head Halt, by the London and South Western Railway in 1906, closing in 1921 or Sunday 4 May 1942. It was located on the outskirts of the city not far from the Great Western Railway main line's Weston Mill Bridge.

Honicknowle is an area and ward of the city of Plymouth in the English county of Devon. It borders with West Park, Crownhill, Ham, Whitleigh and Pennycross areas of Plymouth. It was previously part of Knackersknowle.

St Budeaux is an area and ward in the north west of Plymouth in the English county of Devon.

St Boniface's Church is a Church of England church in St Budeaux, Plymouth, Devon, England. The original church was built between 1911 and 1913 to the designs of London architect William Douglas Caröe. Caröe's plans for the west end of the building, including a proposed tower, were never realised, although a concrete extension designed by Plymouth architects Evans & Sloggett was added in 1965. Harry Stuart Goodhart-Rendel described the church as "an abundance of ugly and eccentric outlines". It was demolished in 2003, after a new combined church and church hall was built earlier in the same year to replace it. The new building remains an active place of worship.

Camels Head Halt railway station, named after a local public house in Plymouth, was opened as part of the city's suburban network by the London and South Western Railway in 1906, closing in 1942. It was located on the outskirts of the city in sight of the Great Western Railway main line that crossed the River Tamar by the Royal Albert Bridge.

St Budeaux Ferry Road railway station is a suburban station in St Budeaux, Plymouth, England. It is 250 miles 15 chains (402.6 km) from London Paddington via Box and Plymouth Millbay.It is served by Great Western Railway services during the rush hours and late morning/early afternoon only. The vast majority of services pass through non-stop due to the proximity of St Budeaux Victoria Road: the entrances to the two stations are directly opposite each other. To the west, the line singles and crosses into Cornwall on the Royal Albert Bridge. The station is unstaffed with step-free access to both platforms.

Ernesettle is mentioned in the Domesday Book, which documented land in England and Wales, and describes as an ‘old Saxon manor’ there. By the 15th century, there were two farms, Great Ernesettle and Little Ernesettle, both named after William Ernstell, a freeholder of Budshead, who owned land here in 1428. By the 16th century, Ernesettle was a thriving hamlet, and Budshead Mill and a manor house were built on the bank of the river Their date of construction is uncertain, but in 1780 the owner was recorded as Sir Harry Trelawney and the tenant was Mr Robert Nicholls. It became one of the post-World War II self-contained satellite suburbs built on the north western fringe of the enlarged city of Plymouth, in the county of Devon, England as part of the plan to clear slums and provide new communities for citizens. It lies beside the River Tamar about half a mile north of the Tamar Road Bridge and Brunel's Royal Albert Railway Bridge. It is the site of the Royal Naval Armaments Depot and MOD Munitions. There are also industrial companies operating in Ernesettle, such as Vi-Spring. The area is currently having a lot of new buildings put in place, such as new houses, flats and the brand new Ernesettle Community School. Ernesettle has had many notable residents over the years. Sir Francis Drake lived in the community in the 16th Century, and married at St Budeaux Church, where the records are preserved. Comedian Dawn French spent some of her early childhood here. Her grandfather owned and ran the newsagent's. Football's first £1m player, Trevor Francis, also lived in Ernesettle during his childhood after his family moved settlement from Pennycross. Former Scotland international footballer and Plymouth Argyle manager Paul Sturrock has also lived in the suburb. Ernesettle was one of several sites within the wider Plymouth and Devon area, listed for a possible waste incinerator or energy from waste (EfW) facility. Opposition to this grew considerably with the formation of the S.T.I.F.L.E. (Stop the Incinerator Fouling Land at Ernesettle) group which opposed the plan. On 14 March 2010, the plan to build the incinerator in Ernesettle was scrapped. An EfW facility opened in Barne Barton in 2015. In September 2014, Plymouth Biomass Limited submitted plans to build plans to build a biomass energy facility. Following protests from residents, the plans were dropped early in 2015
