The Church of Our Lady and St Joseph, Heywood, is a Catholic church on Mary Street in Heywood, Greater Manchester, England and is a Grade II listed building.

St George's Church stands in the centre of the town of Poynton, Cheshire, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Cheadle, the archdeaconry of Macclesfield, and the diocese of Chester. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. It is the tallest building in Poynton.

Macclesfield Rural District was a rural district of Cheshire, England from 1894 to 1974. Macclesfield as a Municipal Borough and Bollington as an urban district formed an enclave which was surrounded by Macclesfield RD. The district was formed in 1894 based on Macclesfield rural sanitary district by the Local Government Act 1894. It was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972 in 1974 and became part of the new Macclesfield borough, which was itself abolished in 2009.

Hazel Grove and Bramhall was a civil parish and urban district in north east Cheshire, England from 1900 to 1974. It was created in 1900 covering, from Stockport Rural District, the former area of the civil parishes of: Bosden Bramhall Norbury Offerton TorkingtonIn 1936, 903 acres (3.65 km2) were transferred to the County Borough of Stockport and 16 acres (65,000 m2) to Marple Urban District. In 1939 the former area of the Woodford civil parish was gained.The district was abolished in 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972, and its former area was transferred to Greater Manchester to be combined with that of other districts to form the present-day Metropolitan Borough of Stockport.

Poynton is a town in the civil parish of Poynton-with-Worth, in the Cheshire East district, in the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England, on the easternmost fringe of the Cheshire Plain, 11 miles (18 km) south-east of Manchester, 7 miles (11 km) north of Macclesfield and 5 miles (8 km) south of Stockport. From 1974 to 2009 it was in Macclesfield district. The first mention of the manor of Poynton was in 1289. Coal was mined in Poynton from the 16th century and the collieries, under the ownership of the Lords Vernon from 1832 until their closure in 1935, were the largest in Cheshire. Consequent urbanisation and socioeconomic development necessitated better transport links; these came with the completion of the Macclesfield Canal through Poynton in 1831, the arrival of the Manchester and Birmingham Railway in 1845 and the Macclesfield, Bollington and Marple Railway in 1869. In the late 20th century, Poynton became a commuter town for Manchester. Since 1945, the population has nearly trebled to 14,260 in 2011.

Woodford Aerodrome (ICAO: EGCD) is a former airfield and aircraft factory at Woodford, Greater Manchester, England, 6 NM (11 km; 6.9 mi) north of Macclesfield. It was opened by the Avro company after the First World War and became an important production centre for military aircraft in the Second World War. Notable planes made at the factory include the Avro Anson, Avro Lancaster, Avro Shackleton and Avro Vulcan. After almost 80 years of aircraft manufacture at the site, Woodford was closed and sold off by BAE Systems in 2011.

Avro Heritage Museum is an aviation museum in Woodford, Greater Manchester, England, that opened on 13 November 2015. It is located at the former Woodford Aerodrome, and it replaces the former Avro Heritage Centre.

Poynton High School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Poynton, Cheshire, just outside Greater Manchester. The school was maintained by the Cheshire East Local Education Authority until December 2018 when it converted and became a founder member of the True Learning Partnership. The school was opened in 1972, and was awarded Arts College status in 2002. It has 1,421 pupils between Years 7 and 13 (ages 11–18). This includes a sixth form of 285 pupils.

Woodford is a suburban village in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, Greater Manchester, England, 5.2 miles (8.4 km) south of Stockport, 5.7 miles (9.2 km) north-west of Macclesfield and 10.7 miles (17.2 km) south-east of Manchester. Woodford is the most southerly point of Greater Manchester; it consists of a ribbon of properties and a housing development along the A5102 road, around which is open countryside. Historically part of Cheshire, Woodford was a hamlet in the parish of Prestbury throughout the Middle Ages. It was incorporated into the Urban District of Hazel Grove and Bramhall in 1939 and then the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport in 1974. Woodford Aerodrome was opened in 1924 by Avro and produced aircraft such as the Avro Lancaster in World War II; it closed in 2011 and was demolished in 2015. Woodford residents have included Manchester United footballers George Best and Cristiano Ronaldo. Its large, expensive properties include New Hall, a 17th-century cottage and Grade II* listed building.

Norbury is in Greater Manchester, England. A civil parish in Cheshire from 1866 to 1900, it now forms part of Hazel Grove in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport. Norbury was one of the eight civil parishes of Cheshire to be included in the Stockport rural sanitary district in 1875. From 1894 it formed part of the Stockport Rural District. In 1900 the parish was abolished and it became part of the Hazel Grove and Bramhall civil parish and urban district. Hazel Grove and Bramhall was abolished in 1974 and Norbury has since formed part of the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport in Greater Manchester.
