Landkey (Cornish: Lannke) is a small village in the county of Devon in the south-west of England with a population of 2274, falling to 1,734 at the 2011 census. It is situated 3 miles (4.8 km) from the nearest town of Barnstaple. The village is a major part of the electoral ward called Landkey, Swimbridge and Taw. The total ward population at the above census was 4,957.

Goodleigh is a village, civil parish and former manor in North Devon, England. The village lies about 2+1⁄2 miles (4 km) north-east of the historic centre of Barnstaple. Apart from one adjunct at the south, it is generally a linear settlement. The parish church of St Gregory is a grade II* listed building with surviving ancient parts but was largely rebuilt in 1881.

Snapper Halt railway station was a station on the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway, a narrow gauge line that ran through Exmoor from Barnstaple to Lynton and Lynmouth in North Devon, England. The station served a rural area near the hamlet of Snapper.

Burridge Fort is an Iron Age Hill fort situated to the North East of Barnstaple in Devon, England. The fort occupies a hill top approx 150 Metres above Sea Level overlooking the Yeo and Bradiford rivers.

The Hawley Hospital was a specialist hospital in Barnstaple, Devon, founded in 1920 as a pulmonary tuberculosis sanatorium as part of a network of such facilities, instigated by the Public Health (Tuberculosis Regulations) 1912.

Chelfham railway station was a station on the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway, a narrow gauge line that ran through Exmoor from Barnstaple to Lynton and Lynmouth in North Devon, England. The station stood at the head of the spectacular Chelfham Viaduct, and served the village of Chelfham below.

Chelfham Viaduct is a railway viaduct built in 1896–97 to carry the single track, narrow-gauge Lynton and Barnstaple Railway (L&B) across the Stoke Rivers valley. Designed by L&B engineer, FW Chanter, and containing over a quarter of a million Marland bricks, its eight arches - each 42 feet (13 m) wide and 70 feet (21 m) high - meaning that the 132-yard (121 m)-long viaduct is the largest narrow gauge railway structure in England. Chelfham Viaduct was Bridge number 22 of the 80 that carried or spanned the railway over its 19-mile (31 km) length. The viaduct was classified as a Grade II listed structure on 25 February 1965.

The Lynton and Barnstaple Railway (L&B) opened as an independent railway in May 1898. It was a single track, 1 ft 11+1⁄2 in (597 mm) narrow gauge railway and was slightly over 19 miles (31 km) long running through the rugged and picturesque area bordering Exmoor in North Devon, England. Although opened after the Light Railways Act 1896 came into force, it was authorised and constructed prior to that act. Therefore, as with all other railways, it was authorised under its own Act of Parliament and built to higher (and more costly) standards than similar railways of the time. In the United Kingdom it was notable as being the only narrow gauge line required to use main-line standard signalling. For a short period the line earned a modest return for shareholders, but for most of its life the L&B made a loss. In 1923, the L&B was taken over by the Southern Railway, and eventually closed in September 1935. The Lynton and Barnstaple Railway Trust was formed in 1979; and a short section was reopened to passengers in 2004. This was extended in 2006; and the following year plans were announced to open 9 miles (14 km) of track, linking the station at Woody Bay to both Lynton (at a new terminus on an extension to the original line, closer to the town) and Blackmoor Gate, and to a new station at Wistlandpound Reservoir. The present track is now 600 mm (1 ft 11+5⁄8 in) narrow gauge.

Chelfham is a small borough in North Devon, England. It is situated between Bratton Fleming and Barnstaple (the largest town in North Devon). The village had a closed special needs school, and also a disused railway viaduct and station.

Yeotown was a historic estate situated in the parish of Goodleigh, North Devon, about 1 1/2 miles north-east of the historic centre of Barnstaple. The mansion house was remodelled in about 1807 in the neo-gothic style by Robert Newton Incledon (1761-1846), eldest son of Benjamin Incledon (1730-1796) of Pilton House, Pilton, near Barnstaple, an antiquarian and genealogist and Recorder of the Borough of Barnstaple (1758–1796). It was demolished during his lifetime and today only one of the large gatehouse survives, since converted into a farmhouse known as Ivy Lodge. The surviving drawing of the house in the collection of the North Devon Athaneum in Barnstaple shows a large chapel, or small church, with a tall square three-storied pinnacled tower (presumably as is conventional at the west end) attached to the house.

Newport is a suburb of the town of Barnstaple in the North Devon district of the county of Devon, England. It is situated one mile south-east of the historic centre of Barnstaple, between that town and Bishop's Tawton, on the east side of the River Taw. Few ancient buildings survive, the "Old Dairy" being a notable exception.

The Church of St John the Baptist on South Street in Barnstaple in Devon is the Anglican parish church for the Newport area of the town. The church comes under the Diocese of Exeter. In 1829 a church was built on the site of a former medieval chapel as a chapel of ease for the community of Newport within the parish of Bishop's Tawton. The parish became independent in 1847, at which time the church building was in urgent need of repair. The current building was completed in 1882. The nave, chancel, north aisle, vestries and the north porch are built of local limestone. In the 1960s a church hall was built adjacent to the church and linked to it by a covered walkway.On the north wall of the church is a memorial to the men of the parish who lost their lives during World War II. The choir vestry, a new bell and windows on the north side of the church were added in 1929 in commemoration of the church's centenary, with celebrations being led by Lord William Cecil, Bishop of Exeter.
