The Crown is a Grade II listed public house at High Street, Cowley, London.It dates from the 16th century.

Cowley is a village contiguous with the town of Uxbridge in the London Borough of Hillingdon. A largely suburban village with 16 listed buildings, Cowley is 15.4 miles (24.8 km) west of Charing Cross, bordered to the west by Uxbridge Moor in the Green Belt and the River Colne, forming the border with Buckinghamshire. Cowley was an ancient parish in the historic county of Middlesex.

Cowley Railway Station was a station on the Uxbridge branch of the Great Western Railway in Cowley, London. The station was opened to serve the small settlement of Cowley. It opened in 1904, nearly fifty years after the rest of the line from West Drayton had been constructed. It was the only intermediate station on the line, situated between Uxbridge Vine Street and West Drayton railway station. It closed to passengers on 10 September 1962, along with the remainder of the branch, but freight trains went through to Uxbridge Vine Street until 1964. Only the stretch of the line from West Drayton Station to the Grand Union Canal survived longer. This was for a freight service to the Middlesex Oil and Chemical Works in Yiewsley which stopped in 1979. Cowley station has since been demolished and built over, and today there are only a few signs of its former existence, including a railway bridge and "Station Road". The station had two platforms, a station building on the southbound platform and a small shelter (also pre-1940, a ticket machine) on the other.It was once part of early 20th century plans for a longer rail line from Denham to Staines via Uxbridge and West Drayton but the section linking Uxbridge High Street railway station and a point south of Uxbridge Vine Street was not built.

Uxbridge Moor is a nature reserve managed by the London Wildlife Trust in Uxbridge in the London Borough of Hillingdon. It is a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation.The site is on an island in the River Colne. It has two meadows and willow woodland. There are common plant species such as oat grass, couch grass, nettles, but also some rarer ones such as hammer sedge. Birds include kingfishers, and butterflies the speckled wood. At the northern end there is an area of damp grassland.There is access by a bridge off St John's Road, at north end of Riverside Way Industrial Estate.

Brunel University London is a public research university located in the Uxbridge area of London, England. It was founded in 1966 and named after the Victorian engineer and pioneer of the Industrial Revolution, Isambard Kingdom Brunel. In June 1966, Brunel College of Advanced Technology was awarded a royal charter and became Brunel University. The university is often described as a British plate glass university. Brunel is organised into three colleges, a structure adopted in August 2014 which also changed the university's name to Brunel University London. Brunel's three constituent Academic Colleges include the College of Business, Arts and Social Sciences; the College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences; and the College of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences. Brunel has over 16,150 students and 2,500 staff, and the annual income of the institution for 2021–22 was £271.3 million, of which £22.4 million was from research grants and contracts, with an expenditure of £311.9 million. The university is ranked as one of the top 400 universities in the world by QS World University Rankings 2022 and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022. The university won the Queen's Anniversary Prize in 2011. Brunel is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the European University Association, and Universities UK.

Uxbridge () is a suburban town in west London and the administrative headquarters of the London Borough of Hillingdon. Situated 15.4 miles (24.8 km) west-northwest of Charing Cross, it is one of the major metropolitan centres identified in the London Plan. Uxbridge formed part of the parish of Hillingdon in the county of Middlesex, and was a significant local commercial centre from an early time. As part of the suburban growth of London in the 20th century it expanded and increased in population, becoming a municipal borough in 1955, and has formed part of Greater London since 1965. A few major events have taken place in and around the town, including attempted negotiations between King Charles I and the Parliamentary Army during the English Civil War. The public house at the centre of those events, since renamed the Crown & Treaty, still stands. RAF Uxbridge houses the Battle of Britain Bunker, from where the air defence of the south-east of England was coordinated during the Battle of Britain especially from its No. 11 Group Operations Room, also used during the D-Day landings. Today the town serves as a significant retail and commercial centre; it is also considered as a university town as it houses Brunel University London as well as the Uxbridge campus of Buckinghamshire New University. A part of the town which has large converted flour mills adjoins Buckinghamshire, the boundary being the River Colne. Government data analysts have confirmed within its Borough are suburbs Harefield, Ickenham, Hillingdon, Newyears Green and Cowley; with Uxbridge these are represented by six electoral wards (units for the election of councillors to Hillingdon Council and commonly for statistical purposes). The 2011 Census recorded a population figure of 70,560 for these wards combined.

The Brunel University lecture centre is a Grade II listed building on the campus of Brunel University London, Uxbridge. It contains six large lecture halls with capacities of 160 to 200 people each, as well as smaller teaching rooms and lecture halls with capacities of 60 to 80. It was built in the mid-1960s in a brutalist style, using mostly reinforced concrete, as part of the expansion of Brunel College into Brunel University, and was designated as a Grade II listed building in 2011. It was used to depict the Ludovico Medical Facility in the 1971 Stanley Kubrick film A Clockwork Orange.

Uxbridge High School is a mixed secondary school with academy status in west London in the town of Uxbridge.

Frays River is a semi-canalised short river in England that branches off the River Colne at Uxbridge Moor and rejoins it at West Drayton. It is believed to be a mainly man-made anabranch north of the confluence with the River Pinn to feed watermills in the Parish of Hillingdon. The river is believed to be named after John Fray who owned Cowley Hall in the fifteenth century. Other names for the river are the Uxbridge and Cowley Mill Stream, the Cowley Stream or the Colham Mill Stream. Two of the three mills in Hillingdon Parish recorded in the Domesday book are believed to have been located on the southern section of the river.

Uxbridge Vine Street station opened on 8 September 1856 as Uxbridge Station and was the earliest of three railway stations in Uxbridge, London.

The Pinn is a suburban, outer west London river. It has dendritic headwaters, the furthest is considered its source – in Harrow Weald. Its confluence with Frays River makes it a tributary of the Colne. It is one of three principal rivers wholly in the historic county of Middlesex.

Randalls of Uxbridge was a family-owned British department store in Vine Street, Uxbridge, which operated for 123 years until it closed in January 2015. The store mainly sold homeware and furniture, but also sold designer menswear.
