Volleberg

Brennåsen is a village in Kristiansand municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located along the river Songdalselva, about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) southeast of the village of Nodeland and about 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) north of the village of Volleberg. The European route E39 highway passes through Brennåsen as it travels between the cities of Kristiansand and Stavanger. The village was part of Songdalen municipality prior to 2020 when that municipality was dissolved. The 1.05-square-kilometre (260-acre) village has a population (2015) of 523, giving the village a population density of 498 inhabitants per square kilometre (1,290/sq mi). The village has a shopping centre, post office, school, and gas station.

Old Søgne Church (Norwegian: Søgne gamle kirke) is a historic parish church of the Church of Norway in Kristiansand Municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the southeastern part of the village of Tangvall. It was once the main church for the Søgne parish which is now part of the Kristiansand domprosti (arch-deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, timber-framed church was built in a long church design in 1640 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 270 people. The "new" Søgne Church was built about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) to the northwest of this location in 1861 to replace this (smaller) church. Since that time, this church is no longer regularly used, but it is available for special occasions such as baptisms and weddings.

Nodeland is a village in Kristiansand municipality in Agder County, Norway. Nodeland was the administrative centre of former Songdalen municipality which was merged into Kristiansand in 2020. The village is located about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) northwest of the city center of Kristiansand. The village is the main urban area of Songdalen area, surrounded by several smaller villages such as Nodelandsheia, Brennåsen, Volleberg, and Hortemo.Nodeland Station is a railway station along the Sørlandet Line. All trains between Kristiansand and Stavanger (except overnight trains) stop in the village at this station. Greipstad Church is also located in Nodeland and it was the main church for the municipality. The 1.26-square-kilometre (310-acre) village has a population (2015) of 2,208 which gives the village a population density of 1,752 inhabitants per square kilometre (4,540/sq mi).

Greipstad Church (Norwegian: Greipstad kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Kristiansand Municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the village of Nodeland. It is the church for the Greipstad parish which is part of the Kristiansand domprosti (arch-deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, wooden church was built in a rectangular design in 1829 using plans drawn up by the architect Arild Sibbern. It was built in the empire style. The church seats about 330 people.

Nodeland Station (Norwegian: Nodeland stasjon) is a railway station of the Sørlandet Line situated in the village of Nodeland in Kristiansand municipality in Agder county, Norway. Located 375.29 kilometers (233.19 mi) from Oslo Central Station, it is served by long-distance trains operated by Go-Ahead Norge. In addition to intercity services to Oslo and Stavanger, the eight daily trains in each direction serve as a commuter link to Kristiansand, located nine minutes away. The station features two side platforms and a station building. The station was opened on 17 December 1943 as part of the segment of the Sørlandet Line between Kristiasand and Sira. The line past the station was electrified from 1946 and the station automated in 1969. The following year the station became unmanned. A major upgrade in 2012 saw the lengthening of the passing loop to 718 meters (2,356 ft), new platforms and increased parking. Nodeland had 10,300 passengers in 2008.

Greipstad is a former municipality in the old Vest-Agder county, Norway. The 104-square-kilometre (40 sq mi) municipality existed from 1913 until its dissolution in 1964 when it became part of Songdalen municipality. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Nodeland where the Greipstad Church is located. The municipality is located in the northern part of the present-day municipality of Kristiansand in Agder county.

Together, Tangvall, Lunde, Høllen, Eig, Åros, and Langenes all form one large urban area known as Søgne. The Old Søgne Church is located in the southeastern part of the urban area, just north of Åros and Langenes. The "new" Søgne Church is located in Lunde. The municipal government is based in Tangvall since 1974. Prior to that time, it was located in Lunde. The municipal high school is also located here.

The village is located in the hills a short distance to the northeast of the former municipal centre of Nodeland in former Songdalen municipality. The village is primarily residential, with most residents working in the nearby urban areas of Kristiansand and Søgne. The 0.5-square-kilometre (120-acre) village has a population (2015) of 1,330 which gives the village a population density of 2,660 inhabitants per square kilometre (6,900/sq mi).

The west side of Åros reaches the Høllefjorden. Åros Feriesenter is a large recreational area along the fjord. Songdalselva or Søgneelva or Songa is a river in Agder county, Norway. The 55.3-kilometre (34.4 mi) long river in the hills between Finsland in Kristiansand municipality and Hægeland in Vennesla municipality. The 209.4-square-kilometre (80.8 sq mi) catchment area is located between the Otra river and Mandalselva river watersheds. The river runs through the villages of Hortemo, Nodeland, Volleberg, Tangvall, Åros, and Høllen. The highest hills in the catchment area go up to 450 metres (1,480 ft) above sea level. The water flows are normally at their lowest in the summer and they're at their highest levels during the autumn and spring. There are only a few small lakes in the river system. The steep slopes down from the moors can create short and intense flood rapids. The river (here called Songa) flows through the Stallemodalen valley in Vennesla, and then falls into the Songdalen valley through a gorge at Underåsen. Once in the Songdalen valley, it is called the Songdalselva. Here it receives more water from the right from the Gumpedalselva tributary. The river drops no more than about 20-meter (66 ft) over the last 20-kilometer (12 mi) to the river mouth, and has on this stretch a very meandering run. There is a short waterfall (Søgne waterfall) near the Søgne Landbruksskole. From that waterfall to the sea, the river is called the Søgneelva. The Songdalselva flows into the sea between the villages of Høllen and Åros in Kristiansand municipality. Both salmon and sea trout are found in the river, and a fishing license is required for fishing along the river.

Høllen is a fishing village in Kristiansand municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located at the mouth of the river Søgneelva, between the villages of Eig to the west, Tangvall to the north, and Åros to the east. Høllen is part of the greater Søgne urban area. It has a well-protected harbour and over the centuries has had shipyards, a post office, and it was the site of a Thing in the 1500s. There is regular ferry boat service to Ny-Hellesund from Høllen.
