The Gulfport Public Library serves the city of Gulfport, in Pinellas County, Florida. It is located at 5501 28th Ave South, Gulfport, Florida 33707. It is a member of the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative. The library provides access to genealogical research via ancestry.com in the library. It also participates in the Florida Memory Project via the Florida Photography Collection. Gulfport Public Library also provides access to digital content in the form of e-books through participation with Project Gutenberg and other e-book services. In 2018, the Gulfport Public Library received the GLBTRT Newlen-Symons Award for Excellence in Serving the LGBT Community.

Gulfport is a city in Pinellas County, Florida, United States, bordering St. Petersburg, South Pasadena, and Boca Ciega Bay. The population of Gulfport was 11,783 at the 2020 census. Gulfport is part of the Tampa–St. Petersburg–Clearwater metropolitan statistical area.

The Pinellas County Center for the Arts (PCCA) is a center in the visual and performing arts in the U.S. state of Florida. PCCA is located in Jonathan C Gibbs High School, and populates buildings 4, 5, and 8.

Gibbs High School is a public high school of the Pinellas County School District in St. Petersburg, Florida. Gibbs is home to the Pinellas County Center for the Arts (PCCA), Business, Economics, and Technology Academy (BETA) and their television production in Communication Arts. The school is named for Jonathan Clarkson Gibbs, a black man who was Superintendent of Public Instruction and Secretary of State in Florida during the Reconstruction era. Gibbs' current principal is Barry Brown.

Eckerd College is a private liberal arts college in St. Petersburg, Florida. Founded in 1958, part of the campus is waterfront and beach on Boca Ciega Bay. Because of its location, Eckerd is considered a "beach school" and has its own student volunteer maritime search and rescue team. Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Eckerd is a member of the Annapolis and Oberlin groups of national liberal arts colleges.

Bayway Isles is a residential neighborhood consisting of two islands in the southwestern part of the city of St. Petersburg, Florida. The islands are home to almost 200 families. The community extends southward from the Pinellas Bayway causeway into the waters of southern Boca Ciega Bay. Bayway Isles is a guarded, deed-restricted community. The community began in 1964 as a joint development of Bayway Development and Leeco Gas and Oil Corporation. In 1968 the State of Florida designated the surrounding waters of Boca Ciega Bay as an Aquatic Preserve, thus limiting future 'dredge and fill' operations in the Bay. In 1972 the remainder of Pinellas County was similarly designed as an aquatic preserve. Bayway Isles is thus one of the last sets of artificial fill islands to be built in Pinellas County. In 1986, new home construction started on the island of Bayway Isles Unit II. Architectural design throughout the community is varied; styles range from Mediterranean Revival to Florida Modern. Homeowners range from small families to retirees. The neighborhood is located adjacent to Isla Del Sol, Fort DeSoto Park, St. Pete Beach and Eckerd College. Bayway Isles street boundaries are 56th to 62nd Avenues South from 49th to 54th Streets South.

Mercy Hospital was a hospital located at 1344 22nd Street South in the city of St. Petersburg, Florida. The hospital was the only primary care facility for the African-American community of St. Petersburg from 1923 to 1966. It was designed by the local architect Henry Taylor, which has also designed other important structures such as the City Comfort Station, the Vinoy Park Hotel and the Jungle Country Club Hotel. It was constructed by Edgar Weeks in July 1923. Mercy Hospital not only served as a medical facility but also as a site for protesting against the segregation of the other hospitals in the city during the Civil Rights Movement. In 1994, it was declared a Historic Place. The city purchased the facility in 1998 due to a lack of redevelopment and deterioration.*change site Then the city leased the facility to Community Health Centers of Pinellas, Inc., which also runs the Johnnie Ruth Clarke Medical Center.

Stetson University College of Law (Stetson Law), founded in 1900 and part of Stetson University, is Florida's first law school. Originally located near the university's main campus in DeLand, Florida, the law school moved in 1954 to Gulfport, Florida. The law school occupies a historic 1920s resort hotel, the Rolyat Hotel, designed by Richard Kiehnel. The College of Law is accredited by the American Bar Association and has been a member of the Association of American Law Schools since 1931. The college also has a campus in Tampa, Florida that shares space with a working court, Florida's Second District Court of Appeal.

The Royal Theatre was a 700-seat movie theater in St. Petersburg, Florida, serving the local African American community from 1948 to 1966. Located at 1011 22nd Street South – a street known as "The Deuces" – the Royal Theatre was part of a thriving hub of commerce and entertainment, and is featured on the African American Heritage Trail. The building is one of the few remaining Quonset huts in the city, and has been listed in the St. Petersburg Register of Historic Places since 2001.The theater is currently home to the local chapter of the Boys and Girls Club of the Suncoast, which has an emphasis on the arts and education. In 2004, the Royal Theater building was recognized as "outstanding rehabilitation project of the year" by the Florida Main Street Program.

The Rolyat Hotel, now the Stetson University College of Law, is located in Gulfport, Florida in Pinellas County on the west coast of Florida. In the early 1900s, Gulfport experienced its share of the Great Florida Land Boom, with the development of Pasadena-on-the-Gulf, now called Pasadena Estates. Pasadena Progress was the official newsletter published for the new Pasadena-on-the-Gulf community. This development was designed as a "residential paradise", and the Rolyat Hotel was the last phase of construction before the Great Depression hit. Built in 1925, the Hotel Rolyat (Taylor spelled backwards) was named after I.M. Jack Taylor, its owner and the president of Pasadena Estates, also known as "Handsome Jack" Taylor. The architectural firm of Kiehnel & Elliott of Miami, Florida designed the Spanish-themed hotel under the direction of project architect Paul Reed. George A. Fuller Construction Company of New York City served as the general contractor and John Wanamaker supplied the furnishings and china. The Rolyat opened January 1, 1926 with celebrities in attendance and champagne flowing in the main fountain.

The Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum is a cultural institution in St. Petersburg, Florida. It is named after the African American historian and civil rights activist Carter G. Woodson. The museum is located in southwest St. Petersburg, Florida in the Jordan Park district. The museum is of historical and cultural importance to the community of St. Petersburg, hosting a variety of exhibits and events. The paths of the museum's Legacy Garden were constructed with bricks containing the names of donors to the museum.

Boyd Hill Nature Preserve is a 245-acre (99 ha) protected area in St. Petersburg, Florida, Pinellas County, Florida. The preserve is located on the shores of Lake Maggiore (Florida) in south St. Petersburg. It is operated by St. Petersburg Parks and Recreation and includes the Boyd Hill Environmental Center, a bird-of-prey aviary, and more than three miles of trails through a variety of ecosystems. Facilities include a playground and picnic areas. The preserve is used for school field trips and hosts environmental education programs. It is located at 1101 Country Club Way South. There are many metal statues built by the late Paul Eppling. A long time resident of St. Petersburg, Paul used recycled metal and scrap metal for his sculptures.
