The Royal Theatre was a 700-seat movie theater in St. Petersburg, Florida, serving the local African American community from 1948 to 1966. Located at 1011 22nd Street South – a street known as "The Deuces" – the Royal Theatre was part of a thriving hub of commerce and entertainment, and is featured on the African American Heritage Trail. The building is one of the few remaining Quonset huts in the city, and has been listed in the St. Petersburg Register of Historic Places since 2001.The theater is currently home to the local chapter of the Boys and Girls Club of the Suncoast, which has an emphasis on the arts and education. In 2004, the Royal Theater building was recognized as "outstanding rehabilitation project of the year" by the Florida Main Street Program.

The Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum is a cultural institution in St. Petersburg, Florida. It is named after the African American historian and civil rights activist Carter G. Woodson. The museum is located in southwest St. Petersburg, Florida in the Jordan Park district. The museum is of historical and cultural importance to the community of St. Petersburg, hosting a variety of exhibits and events. The paths of the museum's Legacy Garden were constructed with bricks containing the names of donors to the museum.

Seaboard Coast Line Railroad station (also referred to as the "Historic Seaboard Train Station") is a former freight railway station in St. Petersburg, Florida, which has been designated by the city of St. Petersburg as a local landmark. The structure is located at 420 22nd Street South.

The James Weldon Johnson Community Library is a public library located in St. Petersburg, Florida. It is a branch of the St. Petersburg Library System, which services a large area in southern Pinellas County, Florida.

Haslam's Book Store is a historic new and used independent bookstore in St. Petersburg, Florida. It is located in the Grand Central District and is the largest independent bookstore in Florida with over 30,000 square feet. Haslam's was started in 1933 by John and Mary Haslam. Their son Charles and his wife, Elizabeth, joined them in running the business after World War II. The store was originally a magazine exchange. Writer Jack Kerouac was a frequent visitor. There have been many claims of Kerouac's ghost frequenting the store. HuffPost put Haslam's as number forty-one on their list of top fifty bookstores in America. As per their website they closed 'in the interest of public safety' on March 22, 2020, and have not reopened since.

Grand Central is an arts-entertainment district in St. Petersburg, Florida, located on Central Avenue and 1st Avenue North and 1st Avenue South two miles west of Downtown. It is located within the boundaries of Kenwood Historic District, a neighborhood of St. Pete. This locale was voted among the 10 best "cottage communities" in America by Cottage Living. Many new businesses have opened in the area, with a large influx from the creative class. The area is also known as a bastion for St. Pete's LGBT community, including gay-friendly nightlife. The annual St. Pete Pride event is held here, which is the largest single-day event for the whole city as well as the largest gay pride parade in all of Florida. The event attracts tens of thousands of people to the area. Hillsborough County Commissioner Kevin Beckner, the first openly gay elected official in the region, was named Grand Marshal for the 2009 parade. Besides Pride, the neighborhood also hosts a weekly "Peddler's Market", similar to a more elaborate Farmers' market. Some controversy is brewing in the neighborhood regarding the marginalization of existing social services centers, and over a flag-hanging ordinance.

Gas Plant Stadium is a proposed indoor ballpark in St. Petersburg, Florida. If approved and constructed, it would serve as the home of the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball.

Tropicana Field (commonly known as the Trop) is a multi-purpose domed stadium located in St. Petersburg, Florida, United States. The stadium has been the ballpark of the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball (MLB) since the team's inaugural season in 1998. The stadium is also used for college football, and from December 2008 to December 2017 was the home of the St. Petersburg Bowl, an annual postseason bowl game. The venue is the only non-retractable domed stadium in Major League Baseball, making it the only year-round indoor venue in MLB. Tropicana Field is the smallest MLB stadium by seating capacity when obstructed-view rows in the uppermost sections are covered with tarps as they are for most Rays games. Tropicana Field opened in 1990 and was originally known as the Florida Suncoast Dome. In 1993, the Tampa Bay Lightning moved to the facility and its name was changed to the ThunderDome until the team moved to their new home in downtown Tampa in 1996. In October 1996, Tropicana Products, a fruit juice company then based in nearby Bradenton, signed a 30-year naming rights deal. Tropicana Field's location and design (especially the ceiling catwalks) have been widely criticized. Along with Oakland Coliseum, it is often cited as one of the worst ballparks in Major League Baseball. Major League Baseball has cited the need to replace Oakland Coliseum and Tropicana Field as one of the primary obstacles to future MLB expansion.In 2023, the Tampa Bay Rays announced a deal with local politicians to build a new stadium near Tropicana Field at an expected cost of $1.2 billion, half of which would fall on taxpayers. The St. Petersburg City Council blocked a proposal to allow St. Petersburg citizens to express their view on the stadium subsidy in an advisory referendum.

The Pinellas County Center for the Arts (PCCA) is a center in the visual and performing arts in the U.S. state of Florida. PCCA is located in Jonathan C Gibbs High School, and populates buildings 4, 5, and 8.

Gibbs High School is a public high school of the Pinellas County School District in St. Petersburg, Florida. Gibbs is home to the Pinellas County Center for the Arts (PCCA), Business, Economics, and Technology Academy (BETA) and their television production in Communication Arts. The school is named for Jonathan Clarkson Gibbs, a black man who was Superintendent of Public Instruction and Secretary of State in Florida during the Reconstruction era. Gibbs' current principal is Barry Brown.

The St. Petersburg Police Department has an authorized strength of 550 sworn officers and 212 civilian support staff. The department serves the fifth largest city in the state of Florida, with a population of 250,000. The St. Petersburg Police Department is one of over 1,000 law enforcement agencies in the United States accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). Anthony Holloway is the chief of police. The department has specialized units, both uniformed and undercover, to target specific public safety issues within the city (i.e., auto thefts, violent crime). The department uses community outreach programs like Park Walk and Talk, Facebook, Twitter, and a tip 411 app to gather information from the community and address specific concerns.

Bayfront Health Baby Place offers full obstetrical services. Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, formerly known as Bayfront Medical Center, is an Orlando Health wholly owned hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. Bayfront Health-St. Petersburg is Pinellas County's only trauma center and St. Petersburg's longest-standing hospital. Bayfront is a not-for-profit teaching hospital that provides comprehensive services in trauma and emergency care; orthopaedics; obstetrics and gynecology; cardiac medicine and surgery (specializing in valve surgery); neurosciences (with its own epilepsy center); sports medicine; surgery and rehabilitation. More than 550 physicians are on staff with specialties ranging from open-heart surgery to fertility treatment.It is also home to Bayflite, an air medical helicopter transport program. Bayflite, the largest hospital-based flight program in the Southeastern United States, was started more than two decades ago and the first flight program in Florida that carried lifesaving blood on every flight.Bayfront is nationally accredited by the Joint Commission and also maintains the following accreditations and certifications: Level II Trauma Center, Level III Regional Perinatal Intensive Care Center, Primary Stroke Center, Chest Pain Center and Hip & Knee Replacement.Bayfront was originally organized as the St. Petersburg Sanitarium in 1906, and over the next six decades re-designated as the Good Samaritan Hospital, Augusta Memorial Hospital, City Hospital, Mound Park Hospital, Bayfront Medical Center, and finally in 2013, Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. It was the first hospital in the city to integrate. The first African-American patient, Altamese Chapman, was a longtime Bayfront volunteer. Bayfront, in its Mound Park Hospital form, was mentioned in the Ian Fleming 007 novel "Live and Let Die". In October 2012, plans were announced to merge Bayfront Medical Center with Health Management Associates and Shands HealthCare. The merger transformed Bayfront Medical Center into a for-profit facility and created a new integrated care delivery network with six other HMA hospitals, including Brooksville Regional Hospital, Spring Hill Regional Hospital, Venice Regional Medical Center, Charlotte Regional Medical Center, Peace River Regional Medical Center, and Pasco Regional Medical Center, with Bayfront being the flagship hospital. The deal closed in mid-2013, and Bayfront joined the HMA family of hospitals. Bayfront health was acquired by Community Health System in early 2014 along with other HMA facilities. On October 1, 2020, Bayfront Health St. Petersburg was acquired by not-for-profit Orlando Health, after the St. Petersburg City Council approved the transaction in July 2020.
