Goldstream Provincial Park

Two different neighbourhoods located in Langford, British Columbia in Greater Victoria on southern Vancouver Island include the name Goldstream.Goldstream Meadows is a neighbourhood in the city of Langford, on the northwest outskirts of Greater Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The community is located just west of Langford Lake and the Trans-Canada Highway and adjacent to the river of the same name, which was the scene of a small gold rush in the 1860s. At the turn of the century, the Lubbe Hydroelectric Plant was operated near Goldstream and created electricity by running high pressure drinking water through a turbine. A powerline then ran 12 miles (19 km) into Victoria and provided electricity to power the streetcars of the day. The plant still exists but is inaccessible to the public.Goldstream Village is located in Langford Proper, considered the downtown heart of the city. The area is only a few square kilometres, located along Goldstream Ave on south side of the city starting at Veterans Memorial Park to the east and ending at Langford Lake to the west (Goldstream Meadows located on far west side of Langford Lake). Veterans Memorial Park is an urban park and home to the Goldstream Farmer's Market and Remembrance Day ceremonies. The village is the central hub of the city containing many small businesses such as retail boutiques, cafes, barber shop, library, police station and City Hall. The Langford trolley services is a transportation service provided by the city and picks up and drops off riders in the village by donation. The neighbourhood consists of a mix of high density condos, townhouses and single home residences. It is a close-knit community with a vibrant, walkable streetscape containing the amenities of a big city but having the appearance and feel of a small town. Festivals, parades, and other city events are often rooted in the downtown village. The area has been the focus of major enhancement work over the years and has received many beautification projects such as the construction of an archway entrance, musical fountain round-about, wide red brick sidewalks, and colourful flowerbeds.

The Goldstream River (Saanich: sʔə́ləq̕ʷtəɬ) is a river northwest of Victoria on southern Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada . The river's name derives from a small gold rush in its basin during the 1860s, and was originally Gold Stream.

Skirt Mountain is a 347 m (1,138 ft) mountain lying approximately 13 km (8 mi) northwest of Victoria, British Columbia in Highland Land District. It is a part of the Gowlland Range (part of the Vancouver Island Ranges), which extends from the Highlands through Langford to Metchosin. The indigenous name for the traditional mountain area in shared Coast Salish territories is SPAET ("spa - eth"), which means bear in the Salishan language. The mountain is a popular destination for hikers and mountain-bikers, and is also the site of the controversial Bear Mountain, a golf resort and condominium development.

Mount Wells is a small regional park located northwest of the City of Langford and in the nearby vicinity of Goldstream Provincial Park and the Sooke Hills Regional Park Reserve. The parking lot is located at Humpback Lake, a former reservoir. The terminus of the decommissioned Sooke Flowline is also located here where the water from Sooke Lake would empty.

Bear Mountain is a golf resort and adjacent community straddling the boundary between the City of Langford and the District of Highlands, in the Western Communities of Greater Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. It is located on and adjacent to Skirt Mountain.Located on southern Vancouver Island, Bear Mountain Golf Resort and Spa offers two courses for a combined 36-hole design by Jack Nicklaus. The Mountain Course, a par 70 playing at 6,900 yards, sets atop a 1,100-foot mountain and has been assigned a slope rating of 142 from the back tees. The 18-hole, par 71 Nicklaus Design Valley Course measures just under 7,000 yards. Bear Mountain is also home to the Canadian training center of Golf Canada's National Development team, the high performance training centre of Canada's National Mountain Bike team, and Canada's largest indoor/outdoor clay court tennis facility supported by Tennis Canada and Tennis BC. Plans are also in the works for a professional disc golf course. The existing community alongside the resort contains approximately 1,150 homes with 3,000 people, and at build-out over 4,000 homes and the community could exceed 10,000 residents, and has been zoned for 645,000 square feet of commercial space.Bear Mountain was purchased by B.C.-based Ecoasis Developments LLP. in 2013.

The Goldstream Powerhouse is a decommissioned hydroelectric plant located near Goldstream Provincial Park in Langford, near Victoria, British Columbia. This plant provided electricity to Victoria for 60 years and is one of the little-known and ingenious chapters in the history of Victoria. This plant was one of the first hydro plants of this type on the west coast of North America. The structure is over a century old and is unsafe to inhabit. It is within the boundaries of the watershed lands owned by the CRD and is inaccessible to the public due to its proximity to a drinking water reservoir.

Starlight Stadium (formerly Westhills Stadium) is a 6,000 seat multi-purpose stadium in Langford, British Columbia, Canada. It is used by Pacific FC of the Canadian Premier League for soccer, by Rugby Canada for various events, and by the Westshore Rebels junior Canadian football team. In an international context, its most notable usage is as the site of the Canada Women's Sevens, an event in the World Rugby Women's Sevens Series for national rugby sevens teams. The stadium also hosted the BC Bears of the Canadian Rugby Championship from 2009 to 2013, and the Victoria Highlanders soccer team from 2009 to 2011. The main stadium seats 6,000 and has 18 VIP suites, four change rooms, officials' rooms, concession, storage, and public washrooms. The field is built to FIFA 2-Star and World Rugby specifications, able to accommodate soccer, football, and rugby matches. Before expansion in 2019, the stadium had 1,600 permanent seats.

Redeemer Lutheran Church is the church for the Lutheran parish of Langford, a community on the west shore of Victoria, British Columbia. The parish forms a part of the West Region, (formerly the Alberta-British Columbia district) of Lutheran Church–Canada. The current pastor is Rev. Phillip Washeim, a graduate of Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary in St. Catharines, Ontario; approximately 40 people usually attend Sunday services.Together with two other Victoria-area Lutheran churches — Church of the Cross, on Cedar Hill Road in Saanich, and Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, on Carrick Street in Victoria — Redeemer Church participates in refugee relief and missionary efforts abroad. For example, in 2013, through Canadian Lutheran World Relief, the three churches helped collect warm clothing for Syrian refugees at Jordan's Za’atari refugee camp. Also in conjunction with the other local Lutheran churches, Redeemer Church helps to sponsor a missionary family in Mozambique engaged in Bible translation and church organization in Chichewa, a Bantu language also spoken in Malawi and Zambia. Rev. Washeim is a named defendant in insolvency proceedings launched by multiple plaintiffs over a Valleyview, Alberta seniors home.

Langford is a city on southern Vancouver Island in the province of British Columbia, Canada. Langford is one of the 13 component municipalities of Greater Victoria and is within the Capital Regional District. Langford was incorporated in 1992 and has a population of over 40,000 people. Its municipal neighbours are Colwood to the southeast, Highlands to the north, Metchosin to the southwest, and View Royal to the northeast.

Westshore Motorsports Park (formerly “Western Speedway”) was a race track located just outside Victoria, British Columbia on southern Vancouver Island. It was a 4/10-mile (643 meter) paved oval track founded in 1954 and was western Canada’s oldest speedway until its closure in September 2022. The track was able to seat up to 3,000 fans and park up to 1,500 cars with a season running from April to September. The speedway hosted stock cars, late models, Old Time Racing Association, sprint cars winged and non-winged, demo cars/trucks, dwarf cars, drag races, mini figure eight cars, monster trucks, and more. The track hosted 9 NASCAR Winston West Series events between 1970 and 1982 and 10 NASCAR Northwest Series races between 1986 and 1989. The track also hosted 2 CASCAR West Series races in 2001 and 2002.

Happy Valley is an unincorporated settlement in the Western Communities area of Greater Victoria on southern Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. Happy Valley, which is located south of Glen Lake and west of Triangular Hill, had its own post office from 1896 to 1922.Happy Valley, BC is not an official municipality - it is a part of the municipalities of Langford and Metchosin, BC. There is no mayor for this specific area.

The Western Communities, also called the West Shore (e.g. West Shore RCMP) or Westshore (e.g. Westshore Town Centre), is the suburban municipalities of Colwood, Langford, Metchosin and The Highlands, Langford and unincorporated districts west of Esquimalt Harbour and Portage Inlet, and south of the Malahat in the Capital Regional District of British Columbia, Canada. The Town of View Royal, which straddles Esquimalt Harbour, may also be included. It is an area of growing residential subdivisions and commercial centres. West Shore Park & Recreation is governed by the West Shore Parks & Recreation Society's Board of Directors made up of representatives from the City of Colwood, the City of Langford, the District of Metchosin, the District of Highlands, the Juan de Fuca Electoral area and the Town of View Royal.
