Oak Spring Farm

Raphine is an unincorporated community in Rockbridge County in the Shenandoah Valley in the U.S. state of Virginia.

The Cyrus McCormick Farm and Workshop is on the family farm of inventor Cyrus Hall McCormick known as Walnut Grove. Cyrus Hall McCormick improved and patented the mechanical reaper, which eventually led to the creation of the combine harvester. The farm is near Steele's Tavern and Raphine, close to the northern border of Rockbridge and Augusta counties in the U.S. state of Virginia, and is currently a museum run by the Virginia Agricultural Experimental Station of Virginia Tech. The museum has free admission and covers 5 acres (2.0 ha) of the initial 532-acre (215.3 ha) farm.

Kennedy–Lunsford Farm is a historic home, farm, and national historic district located near Lexington, Rockbridge County, Virginia. The district encompasses six contributing buildings. They are the main house (c. 1775), plus a large bank barn, a corn crib / machinery shed, a spring house, a chicken coop and a syrup house, all dating from the early-20th century. The main house is a two-story, three-bay, vernacular Georgian style stone dwelling with a gable roof and interior end chimneys. It has a single bay, gable roofed front porch and two-story rear frame ell.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

Spottswood is an unincorporated community in Augusta County, Virginia, United States. Spottswood is located at the junction of State Routes 620 and 671 15.5 miles (24.9 km) south-southwest of Staunton. The James Alexander House and the Old Providence Stone Church, which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, are both located near Spottswood.

Fairfield is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Rockbridge County, Virginia, United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 257.The CDP is in the northeast part of the county, along U.S. Route 11 (North Lee Highway), which leads northeast 12 miles (19 km) to Greenville and southwest 11 miles (18 km) to Lexington. Interstate 81/64 forms the northwest edge of the community, with access from Exit 200 (Sterrett Road). The Interstate highway runs parallel to US 11 and leads northeast 23 miles (37 km) to Staunton and southwest 8 miles (13 km) to where the highways split near Lexington.

Old Providence Stone Church is a historic church in Spottswood, Virginia in Augusta County, Virginia. A log structure was built in the area by 1743 for early settlers known as the South Mountain Meeting House. In 1746 the congregation split, and the stone building was built in 1793 on land donated by Patrick and Susana Hall. In 1844, Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of the South. In 1859, a new building was built for services, and a school used the stone building until the American Civil War, and then a store and residence. From 1888 it was used as a high school for the valley until the early 20th century, and then a meeting room until a fire in 1959 destroyed the interior.The building is a simple gable structure with 18-inch (46 cm) thick walls, about 25 feet (7.6 m) wide and 70 feet (21 m) long. It was added to the National Register on December 5, 1972.Robert McCormick (1780–1846), patriarch of the McCormick family which includes Cyrus McCormick, is buried in the cemetery, along with other members of the family. The McCormick Estate just to the south is now a historic museum and experimental farm. The parents of sewing machine inventor James Edward Allen Gibbs are also buried in the small stone walled cemetery near the old church. A new church and larger modern cemetery are across the State Route 919 (known as "Old Providence Road) to the east.

The Saint Marys River is an 8.4-mile-long (13.5 km) tributary of the South River in Augusta County in the U.S. state of Virginia. By the South and Maury rivers, it is part of the James River watershed. The river flows through the Blue Ridge Mountains, rising north of the Blue Ridge Parkway near the highlands known as Big Levels, and flows west to the South River near the village of Steeles Tavern.

James Alexander House (also known as the Alexander-Long House) is a historic house located near Spottswood, Augusta County, Virginia.

The Kennedy-Wade Mill, or Wade's Mill, is a grist mill and national historic district located in Raphine, Virginia and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was originally built c. 1750 by Captain Joseph Kennedy. In 1846 the mill was sold by the Kennedy family to Henry B. Jones, who expanded and improved the mill. After passing to other owners in 1867, the mill was damaged by fire in 1873. It was rebuilt and leased to (and later bought by) James F. Wade, and put back into use in November 1882. The Wade family continued to operate it for four generations. It was bought in 1991 by Jim Young, and is still functioning today. The mill grinds flour using millstones and a 21-foot overshot water wheel. The flour is shipped to restaurants and livestock farmers. Nearby and also part of the Kennedy-Wade's Mill Historic District are the miller's house and other houses and outbuildings structures forming the small mill community.
