The Clyde Locomotive Company was a firm of locomotive manufacturers in Springburn, Glasgow, Scotland.The company was founded in 1884 by Walter Montgomerie Neilson, after he left the partnership of Neilson, Reid and Company in 1876 following a disagreement with James Reid.In 1886, the first locomotives were built; these were a class of eight 4-4-0s for the Highland Railway, known as the Clyde Bogies. Two locomotives built in 1887, which had been ordered by the Girvan and Portpatrick Junction Railway, were delivered to that company's successor, the Ayrshire and Wigtownshire Railway.In 1888, the long established engineering firm Sharp Stewart and Company wanted to expand, but finding it impossible to extend their existing Atlas Works in Manchester (which had no direct rail access), they decided to move to Glasgow; they bought the Clyde Locomotive Co. and renamed it Atlas Works after their former premises. When Sharp Stewart amalgamated with other firms in 1903 to form the North British Locomotive Company, the Atlas Works continued to build locomotives until its closure in 1923.

North Glasgow College was a college located at Springburn in Glasgow and was one of the main providers of further education in the city. Due to financial difficulties experienced by the North British Locomotive Company in 1961, the main administration building of the company on Flemington Street was sold to Glasgow Corporation for use as an annexe of Stow College, until becoming Springburn College of Engineering in 1965 and later Springburn College in 1981. Its primary role was the teaching of engineering apprentices. The college merged with Barmulloch College in 1990, being renamed North Glasgow College. The new combined college remained located in the former headquarters of the North British Locomotive Company but in early 2009 moved to a new purpose built campus opposite, on the site of the former NBL Hyde Park railway works. The new college building won a Royal Institute of British Architects Award for its design in 2009.The college merged with Stow College and John Wheatley College on 1 November 2013 to form Glasgow Kelvin College.

Petershill Park is a leisure centre and football stadium located in the Springburn suburb of Glasgow, the largest city in Scotland. It has a third generation full-size outdoor football pitch, and has floodlights. It is host to the men's West of Scotland Football League football sides Petershill and Rossvale. The women's football teams Glasgow City, Glasgow Girls and Partick Thistle Women also play their home games at the stadium. It is known locally as The Peasy which is also the nickname of the Petershill club.

Springburn railway station serves the Springburn district of Glasgow, Scotland. The station is 1+1⁄4 miles (2.0 km) north of Glasgow Queen Street (High level) station on the Cumbernauld Line and is a terminus of the Springburn branch, a spur from Bellgrove station, on the North Clyde Line. The station was first built by the City of Glasgow Union Railway, whose branch line from Bellgrove opened to goods traffic in 1875. A station building was designed by the engineer James Carswell in 1875 and was opened in 1887, when passenger traffic then began operating. Initially built as a terminus, two through platforms were added shortly afterwards by the company when they gained running powers over the Sighthill Branch of the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway, which ran alongside the CGUR at this location. The link into this line gave the company access to both the E&G main line at Cowlairs and also the former Garnkirk and Glasgow Railway, which had now become the main Caledonian Railway route from Glasgow Buchanan Street to NE Scotland via Cumbernauld and Stirling. Several different passenger routes operated from the station, including workers trains to Singer on the Glasgow, Dumbarton and Helensburgh Railway and a circular service that also used the Stobcross Railway and the GD&HR. The CGUR was absorbed jointly by the North British and Glasgow and South Western Railway in 1896, with the former company taking over the Bellgrove to Springburn branch.The line from Bellgrove was electrified in November 1960 as part of the North Clyde scheme, but regular services northward to Cowlairs ended in 1963, when the workers trains to Singer were withdrawn. However, three years later, trains from Cumbernauld were re-routed here with the closure of the Buchanan Street terminus to passenger traffic. Passengers had to change onto the North Clyde Line at Springburn to reach the city, as there was no direct route at that time to Queen Street main line station. Normal practice therefore was to operate a Cumbernauld to Springburn shuttle service which connected with the North Clyde line trains. Through running eventually commenced in 1989, albeit with a reversal in a loop alongside the carriage sidings and depot at Eastfield to begin with. Cumbernauld Line trains are now able to run directly to Queen Street High Level via the Cowlairs Chord - a single track south to east curve which was opened in 1993 by British Rail. The line has now been electrified as part of the Edinburgh to Glasgow Improvement Programme.Springburn station has kept its four platforms, with two used by through trains and the others by terminating services from Bellgrove and points west. Two through goods lines used to run past the station to the west; these formed the original E&G Sighthill branch. They were latterly used to access the goods yard at Sighthill prior to its closure in October 1981, as well as to access St. Rollox railway works but they have since been lifted.The station building was designed by James Carsewell - it is now protected as a category B listed building.

Springburn Museum was set up in the reading room of the Springburn Library, Glasgow, Scotland, as the first independent community museum in the city, presenting material on the industrial heritage of the area.The Museum was opened by Tom Weir in 1986. It continued to provide a community based resource for historical reference throughout the 1990s. After encountering financial difficulties, the Museum closed in 2001. Subsequently, a more limited display in Springburn Library is complemented by an online entity.Plans for redeveloping Springburn Winter Gardens announced in 2020 would include some artefacts formerly exhibited at the Museum.

Springburn (Scottish Gaelic: Allt an Fhuairainn) is an inner-city district in the north of the Scottish city of Glasgow, made up of generally working-class households. Springburn developed from a rural hamlet at the beginning of the 19th century. Its industrial expansion began with the establishment of a chemical works by Charles Tennant on the newly opened Monkland Canal at nearby St. Rollox in 1799, which later became part of the United Alkali Company. Later in the 19th century, the construction of railway lines through the area led to the establishment of railway works and the village became a parish in its own right. The Garnkirk and Glasgow Railway first opened in 1831 to supply the St. Rollox Chemical Works and the Edinburgh & Glasgow Railway was opened in 1842. Later, the City Union Line was extended to Springburn in 1871, and the Hamiltonhill Branch Line opened in 1894. Initially located outside the Glasgow boundary, the core area was eventually absorbed by the city in 1872 and other parts in 1891. In the early 21st century, it forms part of the Springburn/Robroyston ward under Glasgow City Council.

Garngad railway station was a railway station in Royston, Glasgow on the City Union Line, on the Garngad chord. It closed for passenger traffic in 1910. The station opened on 1 October 1883. It was known as Blochairn station until 1885, when it was renamed to Garngad. The station closed on 1 March 1910. It was operated by the North British Railway. Passenger trains still operate through the station site to and from Springburn, the line having been AC electrified since 1960.

Hyde Park was a football ground in the Springburn area of Glasgow, Scotland. It was the home ground of Northern throughout their existence.

Glasgow Works, formerly the St Rollox Works, is a railway rolling stock heavy maintenance and repair works established in the 1850s in the Glasgow district of Springburn by the Caledonian Railway Company, and known locally as 'the Caley'. Ownership of the works passed to the LMS in the 1920s and then to British Rail in the 1940s, with the size of the works reduced in the 1980s under British Rail Engineering Limited management. It was sold as part of the privatisation of British Rail in 1995 and after a number of ownership changes was most recently operated by Mutares-owned subsidiary Gemini Rail under a lease from the landlord, Hansteen Holdings. It has been closed since July 2019 but the site was purchased by a firm owned by Optical Express founder David Moulsdale in 2021.

Blochairn (, Scottish Gaelic: Baile a' Chàirn, lit. 'Town of the Cairn') is a district in the Scottish city of Glasgow, situated north of the River Clyde. The district lies on either side of the main Blochairn Road. In 1969 the Blochairn Fruit Market opened there, next to a junction on the M8. The market occupies 32 acres (13 ha) and has 74 fruit and vegetable stalls and six fish stalls; it also handles flowers. It operates 24 hours a day and handles over two million tons of produce per year; it is used by caterers and food processors throughout central and western Scotland and also in Northern Ireland and Northern England. It has been Scotland's largest outdoor market since the closure of Ingliston Market in Edinburgh.The Fruit Market was previously located near Glasgow Cross. When it was relocated, the housing in the area, which was prefabricated and contained asbestos, was removed. The local pub, the Blochairn Bar, known as 'The Budgie', in 1978 was the first pub in Scotland to be granted extended licensing hours, from 8am to 11pm, to serve the market shift workers.
