Hamre Church

Hamre is a village in the municipality of Osterøy in Vestland county, Norway. The village of Hamre is located near the extreme western point on the island of Osterøy, across the Osterfjorden from the village of Knarvik. Hamre sits about 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) north of the village of Valestrandfossen. The 0.24-square-kilometre (59-acre) village has a population (2019) of 210 and a population density of 875 inhabitants per square kilometre (2,270/sq mi). Hamre village was the administrative centre of the former municipality of Hamre, which existed from 1838 until 1964.

Hamre (historically, Hammer) is a former municipality in the old Hordaland county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until 1964 when it was dissolved and its lands split up among several other municipalities. It was located in what is now Alver Municipality and Osterøy Municipality in Vestland county. It was once a large municipality, but over time it was reduced in size until it covered an area of 84 square kilometres (32 sq mi) by the time it was dissolved in 1964. At that time, it encompassed land on both sides of the Osterfjorden on the Lindås peninsula on the north side and on the island of Osterøy on the south side. The administrative centre was the village of Hamre where Hamre Church was located.

Osterfjorden is a fjord in Vestland county, Norway. The fjord is one of three fjords surrounding the island of Osterøy. The fjord runs along the municipal border of Alver and Osterøy municipalities. The fjord begins at the Romarheimsfjorden and flows to the west for 27 kilometres (17 mi) before ending near the village of Knarvik at the confluence of four fjords: Osterfjorden, Radfjorden (to the north), Sørfjorden (to the south), and Salhusfjorden (to the west). The Osterfjorden is generally about 1 to 3 kilometres (0.62 to 1.86 mi) wide and the deepest point in the fjord reaches a depth of 639 metres (2,096 ft) below sea level.The following villages lie along the Osterfjorden: Knarvik, Hamre, Leknes, Eikanger, Hosanger, Fotlandsvåg, Ostereidet, and Tysso. Historically, the old municipality of Hosanger encompassed the land on both sides of the fjord, with the fjord running through the middle of the municipality.

Hylkje is a village in the borough of Åsane in the municipality of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The village lies in the northeastern part of the municipality, along the Sørfjorden. The European route E39 runs through Hylkje.The 2.97-square-kilometre (730-acre) village has a population (2012) of 2,277 and a population density of 767 inhabitants per square kilometre (1,990/sq mi). Since 2013, the village population statistics have no longer been tracked because the village is now included in the population statistics for the city of Bergen.

Bergen Prison is located in the Bergen kommune in Vestland and is placed under the west Criminal Care department. The prison was opened in 1990 and has a capacity of 258 inmates. Women and men serve together in Bergen prison, and there have been repeated revelations about female inmates prostituting themselves in exchange for drugs.

Veten is a mountain in the city of Bergen, Norway. At 486 metres (1,594 ft) above sea level, it is the highest mountain in Åsane borough, and the ninth-highest in Bergen. The name is an archaic word for "beacon" in Norwegian.

Knarvik Church (Norwegian: Knarvik kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Alver Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Knarvik. It is one of the four churches for the Knarvik parish which is part of the Nordhordland prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The wooden church was built in a modern long church design in 2014 using plans drawn up by the architectural firm Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter. The church seats about 500 people.

Knarvik Upper Secondary School (in Norwegian, Knarvik vidaregåande skule) is a high school located on Knarvik in Lindås, 30 km north of Bergen in Norway. The school is one of the largest in Hordaland, with over 950 pupils and about 150 employees. The school has a close connection to local industry; students can attend a program called TAF that eventually leads to both craftmanship certification and a high school degree in 4 years.

Knarvik (or Knarrviki) is the administrative centre of the municipality of Alver in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located on the mainland, about 20 km (12 mi) straight north of Bergen at the confluence of four fjords: Osterfjorden (heading east), Sørfjorden (heading southeast), Salhusfjorden (heading southwest), and the Radfjorden (heading northwest). The village of Isdalstø lies immediately north of Knarvik.The 3.48-square-kilometre (860-acre) village has a population (2019) of 5,875 and a population density of 1,688 inhabitants per square kilometre (4,370/sq mi). This makes it the largest settlement in the Nordhordland district of Vestland. The centre of the village is the site of the Knarvik Senter, the largest shopping centre in Nordhordland with 61 stores. The European route E39 highway runs straight through the village dividing it into two major parts. The northern part is where the large shopping mall is located while the southern part is still in its original state with scattered buildings and shops. Knarvik has several kindergartens, a junior high school, and a regional high school (Knarvik vidaregåande skule) with more than 1,000 students. The newly built Knarvik Church was completed in 2014 to serve the growing community. Before its completion, residents had to travel up to Alversund Church in the village of Alversund, located about 4 km (2.5 mi) to the north.

Bergen Travpark is a harness racing track at Åsane in Bergen, Norway. The course is 1,000 meters (3,300 ft). Owned by Norwegian Trotting Association, its tote betting is handled by Norsk Rikstoto. The venue opened on 15 June 1985.

Klauvaneset is a small peninsula in the northern part of Åsane in Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is the site of the southern part of the Nordhordland Bridge.

The Hagelsund Bridge (Norwegian: Hagelsundbrua) is a suspension bridge in Alver Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The bridge connects the island of Flatøy with the village of Knarvik on the mainland. The length of the bridge is 623 metres (2,044 ft). The length of the main span, i.e. the suspended roadway between the bridge's towers, is 250 metres (820 ft). The bridge consists of 2 lanes with car traffic heading in opposite directions, and a walkway for pedestrians and bicycles. The bridge has a 50-metre (160 ft) clearance above the ocean for boats to pass beneath the bridge. The bridge was opened in 1982 and together with the Nordhordland Bridge and the Krossnessund Bridge, it is a part of the triangular bridge network connecting Flatøy with the island of Holsnøy to the west, the city of Bergen to the south, and the municipality of Alver to the east.
