Nelson Schoolhouse

Nelson is a town in Cheshire County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 629 at the 2020 census, down from 729 at the 2010 census. Nelson includes the village of Munsonville.

Silver Lake is a 346-acre (1.40 km2) water body located in Cheshire County in southwestern New Hampshire, United States, in the towns of Harrisville and Nelson. Water from Silver Lake flows via Minnewawa Brook and The Branch to the Ashuelot River, a tributary of the Connecticut River. The Silver Lake District, located along the southern portion of the lake, is a historic district listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The lake is classified as a coldwater fishery, with observed species including rainbow trout, lake trout, smallmouth and largemouth bass, and horned pout. Many small islands on the south and west side of the lake are NH Loon Preserve registered habitats. In 2018, the largest remaining undeveloped parcel on Silver Lake was permanently protected via a conservation easement with the Harris Center for Conservation Education. The center worked closely with the Silver Lake Land Trust and the Seaver Silver Lake Farm Trust for more than a year on the project. The easement includes 50 acres (20 ha) of land and nearly 800 feet (240 m) of shoreline on the southern end of the lake in Harrisville, and it adds to a block of more than 6,000 acres (2,400 ha) of contiguous conservation land in the towns of Nelson, Roxbury, Harrisville, and Marlborough. With the completion of the project, 80% of the Silver Lake watershed, including 2.9 miles (4.7 km) of shoreline, are protected.

The George Cheever Farm is a historic farmstead at the corner of Nelson and Tolman Pond Roads in Harrisville, New Hampshire. This 1½-story wood-frame house was built in the early 1860s, and is a well-preserved example of a period farmhouse. It is architecturally distinctive because of a rear saltbox style addition, and its shed-roof dormers. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Granite Lake is a 233-acre (0.9 km2) lake located in Cheshire County in southwestern New Hampshire, United States, in the towns of Nelson and Stoddard. The village of Munsonville, within the town of Nelson, is located at the outlet. The lake flows into a tributary of Otter Brook, which flows southwest to the Ashuelot River in Keene and thence to the Connecticut River. Granite Lake Dam regulates the lake's water level.New Hampshire Route 9 formerly passed along the southern shore of the lake as it traveled from Keene to Hillsborough, but since the 1990s has bypassed the lake on higher ground to the south. The old routing is now the local Granite Lake Road. The lake is classified as a coldwater fishery, with observed species including rainbow trout, lake trout, smallmouth bass, rock bass, chain pickerel, and horned pout.

The Clymer House is a historic house at 31 Clymer Road in Harrisville, New Hampshire. Built in 1932, it is a finely crafted example of Colonial Revival architecture, built in conscious imitation of an earlier form that might have occupied the same site. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The Wildwood Cottage is a historic house on Bancroft Road in Harrisville, New Hampshire. Built in the 1860s, this 1+1⁄2-story Greek Revival cottage is one of two surviving houses associated with a small-scale industrial area known as "Mosquitoville". It was probably the residence of the owners of the sawmill at the site. The Mosquitoville complex (of which only the two houses survive), was an economically significant part of the town for nearly 100 years, supplying wooden parts to the mills in the center of Harrisville. This house stylistically resembles some of those built in the village.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The Timothy Bancroft House is a historic house on Bancroft Road in Harrisville, New Hampshire. Located in a rural area once known as Mosquitoville, this c. 1785 wood-frame house was built by Timothy Bancroft, who operated a sawmill nearby that was one of the town's major industries for nearly a century. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Aldworth Manor, also known as the Arthur E. Childs House, is a historic summer estate house in rural Harrisville, New Hampshire. The house is located at the top of a hill at the end of Aldworth Road, formerly the estate's access drive, and was one of the premiere estate houses of the early 20th century in the town. The house was originally built c.1850 in Worcester, Massachusetts. It was inherited by Arthur E. Childs, a Worcester native from a wealthy family, in the early 20th century.

The Kendall Cottage is a historic house on Breed Road in Harrisville, New Hampshire. Built in 1798, it is a well-preserved example of an early Cape-style hill country farmhouse, and one of a small number of surviving 18th-century buildings in the town. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The John Adams Homestead/Wellscroft is a historic farmstead off West Sunset Hill Road in Harrisville, New Hampshire. The oldest portion of the farm's main house is a 1+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure built in the 1770s. It is one of the least-altered examples of early Cape style architecture in Harrisville, lacking typical alterations such as the additions of dormers and changes to the window sizes, locations, and shapes. The farmstead, including outbuildings and an area of roughly 2 acres (0.81 ha) distinct from the larger farm property, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Corban C. Farwell Homestead is a historic house at the junction of Breed and Cricket Hill roads in Harrisville, New Hampshire, United States. Built in 1901 by a local farmer, it is an architecturally eclectic mix of Greek Revival, Colonial Revival and Queen Anne styling. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music is a center of chamber music performance and teaching, founded in 1971 and situated on 100 acres (40 ha) of fields and woodlands in Nelson, New Hampshire, in the United States.
