St Mark's, Battersea Rise

St Mary's Cemetery is a cemetery opened in 1860 in Wandsworth, London. It was established by St Mary's Burial Board in part of Wandsworth Common. It has also been known as Battersea St Mary's Cemetery and Battersea Rise Cemetery. Its burial land was exhausted in the 1960s. There is a small chapel where services can be conducted. It is owned by the London Borough of Wandsworth. Notable burials include: John Burns, trade unionist and politician, MP for Battersea Sir William Anderson Rose, Lord Mayor of London, MP for Southampton William Taylor, headmaster of Sir Walter St John's Grammar School For Boys for 34 years from 1873 to 1907The cemetery contains the war graves of 15 British service personnel from World War I and 3 from World War II.

The Grand (previously The Grand Theatre) is a Grade II listed building on St John's Hill, near Clapham Junction in Battersea, South London. It was designed by Earnest Woodrow and was first opened in 1900 as The New Grand Theatre of Varieties. The theatre was built for a consortium which was led by the well-known music hall artistes Dan Leno, Herbert Campbell, Harry Randall, and Fred Williams. Today, it is a nightclub, live music venue, theatre and event space.

The St John's Hill drill hall is a military installation at Lavender Hill in London. The building on St John's Hill became the regimental headquarters for the London Regiment in 1993.

New Wandsworth was a railway station in Wandsworth. The station was opened by the West End of London and Crystal Palace Railway on the 29 March 1858 when the railway extended its line from Wandsworth to Pimlico. It closed on 1 November 1869, six years after Clapham Junction had opened a short distance to the north and was replaced by Wandsworth Common station.The station was close to the London and South Western Railway's Clapham Common station located on a separate line, with both stations being open between 1858 and 1863.

Clapham Common was a railway station in Clapham. When open, it was located between Vauxhall and Wimbledon stations. The station was opened by the London and South Western Railway on the 21 May 1838 as Wandsworth when the company opened its line from Nine Elms to Woking. Renamed in 1846 it closed on 2 March 1863 when Clapham Junction was opened in its place.The station was close to the West End of London and Crystal Palace Railway's New Wandsworth station located on a separate line, with both stations being open between 1858 and 1863 before being replaced by a combined station at Clapham Junction.

The Granada Theatre is a Grade II* listed building at St John's Hill, Clapham Junction, London.It was built in 1937 by the architects Cecil Masey, H R Horner and Leslie Norton, and with interior design by Theodore Komisarjevsky. It closed in 1980, re-opening in May 1991 as a Gala Bingo Hall. This closed in December 1997. It has since been modernised and refurbished and is now a conference venue called Transformation House.

On 3 June 1991, 21 year old Alison Shaughnessy (née Blackmore; born 7 November 1969) was stabbed to death in the stairwell of her flat near Clapham Junction station. Shaughnessy was newly married, but her husband was having an affair with a 20-year-old woman, Michelle Taylor. A witness reported seeing two women running from Shaughnessy's building after the murder, and fingerprints found at the scene matched Michelle and her sister Lisa Taylor, who claimed never to have been there. Michelle's diary included an entry reading "my dream solution would be for Alison to disappear, as if she never existed". The Taylor sisters were found guilty of the murder in 1992, but one year later their convictions were overturned by the Court of Appeal because the prosecution had failed to turn evidence over to the defence, and because the sensationalist media coverage may have influenced jurors. Reinvestigations of the case by the Metropolitan Police did not identify any other suspects, and in 2002 it was decided to no longer formally investigate the case. Filmmaker Bernard O'Mahoney, a man who had originally campaigned for the release of the Taylors and who then had an affair with Michelle, has since claimed that she confessed to the murder to him and has campaigned for the sisters to be re-convicted. The case led to discussions about the role of press and media in relation to criminal cases.

The Falcon is a Grade II listed public house at 2 St John's Hill, Battersea, London.The current Falcon inn was built in the late 19th century as a purpose-built hotel, with a pub on the ground floor, and is on the Campaign for Real Ale's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors. It has entered the Guinness World Records for having the longest bar counter in a public house. The history of The Falcon can be traced back to 1733 and it is likely that an inn stood at the site before that time.

Clapham Junction is an urban locality around Clapham Junction railway station in London, England. Despite its name, it is not located in Clapham, but forms the commercial centre of Battersea. Clapham Junction was a scene of disturbances during the 2011 London riots.

Arding & Hobbs is a former department store and Grade II listed building at the junction of Lavender Hill and St John's Road, Battersea, London SW11 1QL.Arding & Hobbs was established in 1876. The present building was constructed in 1910 in an Edwardian Baroque style, and the architect was James Gibson.The department store sold to the John Anstiss Group in 1938, before John Anstiss was purchased by United Drapery Stores in 1948 and was added to their Allders group in the 1970s. Allders went into administration in 2005 and was subsequently broken up and sold. The main part of the Arding & Hobbs building was split between a branch of Debenhams department store and TK Maxx retail. As of 9 June 2020, the Debenhams section of the building has been permanently closed. The store and building is featured in a number of films and television programmes including the 1981 action-thriller Nighthawks, where the shop was bombed, and the 1994 Mr. Bean episode "Do-It-Yourself Mr. Bean". It is very prominent in the video "Life On Your Own" by the band The Human League which is set in a future, apocalytic London where the lead singer is the only person left alive and lives in the building.

Clapham Junction railway station () is a major railway station and transport hub near St John's Hill in south-west Battersea in the London Borough of Wandsworth. It is 2 miles 57 chains (2.71 mi; 4.37 km) from London Victoria and 3 miles 74 chains (3.93 mi; 6.32 km) from London Waterloo; it is on both the South West Main Line and Brighton Main Line as well as numerous other routes and branch lines passing through or diverging from the main lines at this station. Despite its name, Clapham Junction is not located in Clapham, a district situated approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) to the south-east. Routes from London's south and south-west termini, Victoria and Waterloo, funnel through the station, making it the busiest in Europe by number of trains using it: between 100 and 180 per hour except for the five hours after midnight. The station is also the busiest UK station for interchanges between services, and the only railway station in Great Britain with more interchanges than entries or exits.

The Falconbrook was a stream that rose in Balham and Tooting, draining much of those parishes then the south and west of the larger district of Battersea including Clapham Junction to enter the London reaches of the Thames. Before doing so it briefly formed the border of Wandsworth Town, reflected in the SW11/SW18 boundary today. The river was culverted in the 1860s and has become an important combined sewer. In 2007 heavy rain caused this to flood, to low but still property-damaging depth, at Falcon Road near Clapham Junction station.
