Wraxall Court (originally called Wraxall Lodge) is a historic building in Wraxall in the English county of Somerset. It is a Grade II listed building.Parts of the original 1658 building were incorporated into the current building when it was erected around 1720 after which it was used by the families of John Codrington and Richard Bampfylde. The house was extended in the 19th century by Thomas Upton. Modernisation including the provision of a water supply was undertaken in the early 20th century. During World War II the house was used as a convalescent home by the Admiralty and then as residences by the University of Bristol before returning to use as a private house. The house reflects the many changes and styles of architecture covering the last 300 years and is surrounded by gardens and an estate which includes specimen trees.

All Saints' Church is the parish church in Wraxall, Somerset, England. It has been dedicated "to all the Saints". The building is surrounded by an extensive cemetery. The present building was raised in the 14th century, with tower, clock and bells being added in later centuries. The church has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building.Parish registers survive from 1562, and include examples of the baptism of black slaves. There are painted stone figures of Sir Edmond Gorges and his wife in the chancel. The nearby rectory was built in the 17th century. The West Tower, is 85 feet (25.9 m) high, and contains eight bells, three of which date from 1705. The clock face was added in 1730.The large churchyard contains several monuments to the Gibbs family which owned the nearby Tyntesfield Estate, which has recently been purchased by the National Trust following the death of Baron Wraxall.

Charlton House is a historic building in Wraxall, Somerset, England. It is a Grade II listed building.The original building dates from the late mediaeval period, however it was altered in the early to mid 17th century and further extended between 1877 and 1884. It was the home of Antony Gibbs of Antony Gibbs & Sons a trading company, whose son William Gibbs bought the Tyntesfield estate and built up the business. The rendered stone three-storey building has a slate roof with a parapet. The hall fireplace dates from the early 17th century as does some of the fabric of the central block however most of the building was added in the 19th century. The fireplace has a gadrooned surround with clustered colonnettes on each side. These finish with caryatids and a moulded cornice. The large overmantel is decorated with the figures of kings and women representing Charity and Justice.Since 1927 it has housed The Downs School, a preparatory school founded in 1894 (originally in a house overlooking Clifton Down, across the Clifton Suspension Bridge). The current Headteacher of the Downs School is Mrs Debbie Isaachsen. The school takes pupils from its reception class until year three in pre-preparatory school and then from year four to year eight in the preparatory school. At the end of year 8, most pupils feed into other local Bristol schools, such as Clifton College and Bristol Grammar School along with Queen Elizabeth's Hospital and even schools further afield such as schools in Taunton, Millfield and Sherborne. It is set in 60 acres (24 ha) of parkland.The house was part of the Tyntesfield estate; the associated Charlton Farm was sold in 2002 and is now a residential centre of Children's Hospice South West.

Wraxall is a village in North Somerset, England, about 6 miles (10 km) west of Bristol. Until 1811 the parish of the same name also included Nailsea and Flax Bourton. The village is now within the parish of Wraxall and Failand.

Wraxall and Failand, formerly just Wraxall is a civil parish in the North Somerset district, in the ceremonial county of Somerset, England. It includes the villages of Wraxall and Failand. In 2011 it had a population of 2,302. On 1 October 1996 the parish was renamed from "Wraxall" to "Wraxall and Failand".The parish contains the remains of Wraxall Camp, an Iron Age settlement that seems to have been a farmstead and is now a listed monument. In Richard II's reign, the village was spelled Wrexhale in the record of a suspicious death.

Elms Colliery (also known as Middle Engine Pit) is a disused coal mine in Nailsea within the English County of Somerset. It has been scheduled as an ancient monument and placed on the Heritage at Risk Register due to the risk of vandalism and further decay.Nailsea's early economy relied on coal mining, which began as early as the 16th century. The earliest recorded date for coal mining in Nailsea was 1507 when coal was being transported to light fires at Yatton. By the late 1700s the Golden Valley area of the town had a large number of pits run by a consortium by Peter Cox, Joseph Whitchurch and Isaac White which was formed in 1786 and known as White and Co. John Robert Lucas joined to obtain coal for the nearby Nailsea Glassworks. Remains of the old pits, most of which had closed down by the late 19th century as mining capital migrated to the richer seams of South Wales, are still visible around the town. Three buildings survive from the Elms Colliery. The engine house of the rotative beam engine and associated buildings, including the remains of a horse whim and weighbridge house are Grade II listed buildings.The water tank above the engine house was used to supply water to Elms House after the mine closed.

Clapton in Gordano is a village and civil parish in Somerset, England. It is situated within the unitary authority of North Somerset on the southern side of the Gordano Valley, immediately adjacent to the M5 motorway. The parish has a population of 348. There is a village football club, Clapton in Gordano FC. They currently run two sides with a view to continue progressing throughout the leagues. Their home ground is currently Clapton Lane, Portishead.

Nailsea Glassworks was a glass manufacturing factory in Nailsea in the English county of Somerset. The remaining structures have been designated as a scheduled monument.The factory making bottle glass and some window glass opened in 1788 and closed in 1873. Little remains of the site, however it was excavated and preserved under sand before a supermarket was built opposite.

Conygar Hillfort is a small multivallate Iron Age hill fort in the North Somerset district of Somerset, England. It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument.The hill fort is situated approximately 0.5 miles (0.80 km) south from the village of Portbury near Bristol and the M5. The fort is triangular in shape and there are the remains of a 3 feet (0.91 m) high bank on the south-western side.

Nailsea School, located in Nailsea, North Somerset, England, is a mixed secondary school and sixth form. It has Technology and Media Arts College specialist school status, and became an academy on 1 September 2012. Academy status means Nailsea School now receives funding directly from the government, where before it was funded by the local authority, however the daily running of the school stays much the same.Nailsea School was opened in 1959 as a grammar school with just over 90 students. In 1966 the school became a Secondary Comprehensive, catering for students from 11 to 18 yearsIn 2006, the school population was more than 1,350, with a planned admission number of 240 students per year. As of 2015, the enrollment was 1,009 including 190 in the sixth form.In 2009, a brand new building was opened to house the school. In September 2019, the 60@Sixty campaign was started to mark the sixtieth anniversary of the school being opened.As of Monday 4 January 2021, Nailsea School became the 14th school to be a part of the Wessex Learning Trust, a Multi Academy Trust based in Cheddar, Somerset alongside Kings of Wessex Academy in Cheddar.

Portbury is a village and civil parish in Somerset, England within the unitary authority of North Somerset. The parish includes the hamlet of Sheepway which is situated on the moorland at the northern edge of the Gordano valley, between the Gordano services on the M5 motorway and Portishead, near the Royal Portbury Dock. The parish has a population of 827.

Portbury railway station was a railway station serving the village and shipyard of Portbury in Somerset, near Bristol, England. It opened in 1867 and closed in 1962. The line through the station was closed in 1964 and the former station house is now a private dwelling. A three-mile stretch of the former line between Portbury and Portishead was bought by North Somerset Council in 2008 in order to keep the option of re-opening the line alive.
