Arellano University (AU) is a private, coeducational, nonsectarian university located in Manila, the Philippines. It was founded in 1938 as a law school by Florentino Cayco Sr., the first Filipino Undersecretary of Public Instruction. The university was named after Cayetano Arellano, the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines. It operates seven campuses located throughout Metro Manila and the main campus is located along Legarda Street, Sampaloc, Manila. The Arellano University School of Law is autonomous and managed by the Arellano Law Foundation. Its athletic team, the Arellano University Chiefs, is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association since 2009.

The Commission on the Filipino Language (CFL), also referred to as the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF), is the official regulating body of the Filipino language and the official government institution tasked with developing, preserving, and promoting the various local Philippine languages. The commission was established in accordance with the 1987 Constitution of the Philippines. Established by Republic Act No. 7104 in 1991, the commission is a replacement for the Institute of Philippine Languages (IPL; Linangan ng mga Wika sa Pilipinas) that was set up in 1987 which was a replacement of the older Institute of National Language (INL; Surian ng Wikang Pambansa), established in 1937 as the first government agency to foster the development of a Philippine national language.

The Nagtahan Interchange, also known as the Nagtahan Flyover and the Mabini Flyover, is a three-level set of three intersecting flyovers in Manila, the Philippines which serves as the junction between Lacson Avenue, Nagtahan Street, Legarda Street, Magsaysay Boulevard, and Jose P. Laurel Street, as well as the nearby Mabini Bridge.

Legarda Street is a short street located in Sampaloc district in Manila, Philippines. It crosses through the eastern section of the University Belt area in a generally east–west orientation between the Nagtahan Interchange and the intersection with Nepomuceno Street in Quiapo. It is served by Legarda station of LRT Line 2. The street was named after Filipino legislator and resident commissioner to the United States, Benito Legarda y Tuason. Historically, its section in Sampaloc was formerly called Calle Alix (after a Real Audiencia of Manila magistrate of the 1860s, José María Alix y Bonache), while its section in Quiapo was formerly called Plaza Santa Ana and Calle Concordia, respectively.

San Miguel (Tagalog pronunciation: [sɐn miˈgɛl]) is a primarily middle-class residential area of the City of Manila, and is one of the city's sixteen traditional districts.

The College of the Holy Spirit Manila, or simply CHSM, was a private, Catholic education institution founded and ran by the Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit in Manila, Philippines. Founded in 1913, College of the Holy Spirit Manila was established originally as Holy Ghost College through the invitation of then Manila Archbishop Jeremias Harty. Located originally on Legarda Street, the present campus is now located in the historic Mendiola Street, inside the Malacañang Palace Complex. It is one of the schools which comprises the Mendiola Consortium (MC) for academic cooperation along with Centro Escolar University Manila, La Consolacion College Manila, San Beda College Manila, and St. Jude Catholic School.Initially the school admitted only girls but in 2005 started admitting male students for the high school department and the following year for the college department when the Nursing program decided to accept male students. The college offers academic programs for high school, undergraduate courses, post-graduate degrees and short-term certificate programs. The undergraduate programs include course in Arts and Education, Business, Fine Arts and Health Sciences. Post-graduate courses include master's degree in Business Administration, Business Administration for Health Professionals, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Guidance and Counseling, and Special Education. The school also offers professional courses in Special Education, Caregiver Program and Women Leadership. Starting in the 2013 school year, it also opened two new short courses in Digital Arts and Gerontology.In 1957, College of the Holy Spirit Manila became one of the founding charter member of the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) to ensure the quality of education. Since then, the college undergoes voluntary accreditation. And the last March 6–7, 2013 the college was re-accredited. CHSM was granted Level III re-accreditation status for arts, sciences and business programs by PAASCU with five years validity until 2018, which deviates to the normal three-year validity.As a SSpS school, for 98 years it was administered by SSpS religious sisters. On June 11, 2011, the SSpS Philippines North Provincial Leadership entrusted the administration of the school to its alumna Dr. Felina Co-Young, making her the first lay woman president of the college. The SSpS sisters remain in the school as heads of different administrative departments and as academic instructors. The school ceased operations in April 2022, citing challenges faced by private education exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The National Shrine of Saint Jude Thaddeus or Saint Jude Parish (originally known as Espíritu Santo Chinese Parish) is one of three Chinese parishes established by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila in Metro Manila, Philippines.The shrine holds its novena service every Thursday to Saint Jude, whose traditional color is green. Its annual fiesta is held every October 28, the Feast of Saints Jude Thaddeus and Simon the Zealot. The shrine is popular with students and those reviewing for board examinations, as Jude Thaddeus is considered the patron saint of hopeless cases.The shrine is located at J.P. Laurel Street, San Miguel, Manila which is inside the Malacañang Palace Complex. The current parish priest and shrine rector is Linus E. Nicasio. He is assisted by Christopher Ramirez and Yuhang Antonio Wang.

Saint Jude Catholic School (SJCS), (simplified Chinese: 天主敎崇德学校; traditional Chinese: 天主敎崇德學校; pinyin: Tiānzhǔjiào Chóngdé Xuéxiào; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Thian-chí-kàu Chiông-tiak Ha̍k-hāu) is a private Catholic coeducational basic education institution run by the Philippine Central Province of the Society of the Divine Word in the district of San Miguel in Manila, Philippines. It is located adjacent to Malacañang Palace. It offers trilingual education in English, Mandarin Chinese, and Filipino. The coeducational school offers Nursery, Preparatory, Elementary (Grade 1 to Grade 6), Junior High School (Grade 7 to Grade 10) and Pre-University: Senior High School (Grade 11 to Grade 12) programs and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). It is the oldest of the two Judenite institutions in the country. The school draws inspiration from the life and works of the institution's patron saint, Saint Jude Thaddeus. The school was founded by 3 Chinese priests, Fr. Peter Tsao, SVD and Fr. Peter Yang, SVD, and later joined by Fr.Charles Tchou who died on November 7, 2008.

The Abbey of Our Lady of Montserrat, or Manila Abbey, is a Benedictine men's monastery located on Mendiola Street in Manila, the Philippines. The monastery was founded by monks from Spain in 1895, in the final years of Spanish colonial era in the Philippines and is dedicated to Our Lady of Montserrat. The resident monks, which belong to the Philippine Pro-Province of the Subiaco Cassinese Congregation (a part of the Benedictine Confederation) also operate San Beda University on the abbey's grounds.

Legarda station is an elevated Manila Light Rail Transit (LRT) station situated on Line 2. The station is located in Sampaloc in Manila and is named after Legarda Street, where the station sits above it. The street in turn is named after Benito Legarda, a Filipino legislator.The station is the second station for trains headed to Antipolo and the twelfth station for trains headed to Recto.

Sampaloc Church (Filipino: Simbahan ng Sampaloc) or the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Loreto (Filipino: Dambanang Pang-Arkidiyosesis ng Mahal na Birhen ng Loreto) is a Roman Catholic Church located along Figueras Street (formerly Bustillos) in the district of Sampaloc in the City of Manila. The church is named after and dedicated to the Virgin Mary and her pilgrimage site in Loreto, Italy where tradition states as the site where the Mary's house was relocated.

The National University (NU), colloquially National U, is a private non–sectarian coeducational university located in Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines. The founder of the university, Mariano F. Jhocson Sr., established the institution on August 1, 1900, as Colegio Filipino in Quiapo, Manila. It is considered as the first private nonsectarian and coeducational institution in the Philippines and also, the first university to use English as its medium of instruction, replacing Spanish.With its main campus in Sampaloc, Manila, the university has been expanding by setting secondary campuses. Other campuses of NU includes: NU Laguna (Sports Academy), NU Fairview, NU Mall of Asia (College of Dentistry), NU Baliwag, NU Dasmariñas, and NU Lipa. Approved by the Department Public Instruction on June 17, 1921, the university received its university status, changing the name from National Academy to National University. Senator Camilo Osías, two-time Senate President of the Philippines, served as the first University President (1921-1936). The current university president is Renato C. Ermita, Jr. (2008–present) and its current majority owner is the SM Group. NU is one of the pioneer members of National Collegiate Athletic Association- Philippines (NCAA) and the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), and also a pioneer member of the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities (PACU). Its international affiliations and memberships include the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAHIL) and the International Association of Universities (IAU).
