Velammal Institute of Technology

Velammal Engineering College, is a private institution located in Chennai, India. Established in 1995, it was the first private engineering College to obtain an ISO 9001:2000 certificate.

Surapet (alias Surapattu, Surapedu) is located in the northwestern part of Chennai, India. Surapet area comes under Madhavaram Taluk, Chennai District of Chennai Corporation. Surapet is surrounded by areas namely, Puzhal in north, Kolathur in east, Puthagaram in south, Puzhal Lake in west.

A possible expansion of Chennai city limits from 174 km2 to 430 km2 may require merger of several suburbs, and Puthagaram panchayath is likely to be detached from Madhavaram.

Kannappa Swamigal was a spiritualist who lived in Kavankarai.

Rettai Eri, locally known as Retteri, is a lake in the Kolathur area of Chennai, India which is visible from the 100 ft road. Redhills road Junction is also named as Retteri Junction. The Government has planned to construct a flyover at this junction.

Pulhal aeri, or Pulhal lake, sometimes spelled Puzhal lake, also known as the Red Hills Lake, is located in Red Hills, Chennai, India. It lies in Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu state. It is one of the two rain-fed reservoirs from where water is drawn for supply to Chennai City, the other one being the Chembarambakkam Lake and Porur Lake. The full capacity of the lake is 3,300 million ft³ (93 million m³).
