Nuckolls-Jefferies House

Mulberry Chapel Methodist Church, also known as Mulberry Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church and Mulberry Chapel, is a historic Methodist church located near Pacolet, Cherokee County, South Carolina. It was built about 1880, and is a one-story, vernacular Gothic Revival style frame church building. It is one of only a few extant African-American churches in South Carolina dating from the first 25 years after the American Civil War. Also on the property is a cemetery with approximately 20 marked graves and an additional 20 or more unmarked ones. Headstones date from 1888 to the 1960s. The most prominent figure associated with the cemetery is Samuel Nuckles, a former slave who served in the 1868 Constitutional Convention and represented Union County in the South Carolina House of Representatives during Reconstruction, between 1868 and 1872. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

Pacolet Mill Office, also known as Pacolet Municipal Building and Town Hall, is a historic office building located at Pacolet, Spartanburg County, South Carolina. It built in 1908 by the Pacolet Manufacturing Company. It is a one-story, brick building with full-height basement level. It has a low-pitched hip roof with flared eaves and decorative exposed rafter tails. The roof is clad with clay Spanish tile. The site features a curving cast stone or concrete pergola added some time between 1920 and 1927. In 2004, the building became the town hall for the Town of Pacolet.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Pacolet Mills Historic District is a national historic district located at Pacolet, Spartanburg County, South Carolina.It encompasses 126 contributing buildings and 1 contributing site in the mill village of Pacolet. The Pacolet Mills village was laid out and built in 1919, with most worker and supervisor houses constructed between 1915 and 1920. Also located in the district are the Pacolet Mills Cloth Room and Warehouse, Pacolet Mill Office, and two churches. The three main Pacolet Mills (1883, 1888, and 1891) and a fourth mill (1894) were demolished in the late 1980s.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Pacolet Mills Cloth Room and Warehouse is a historic textile mill located at Pacolet, Spartanburg County, South Carolina. It was built in 1906–1907, and consists the 1 1/2-story, brick cloth building with the attached warehouse portion covered with weatherboard and metal. the building features a low-profiled roof and large rounded arch windows. The front portion of the building was used for inspecting cloth prior to shipping, and the rear portion was used as a warehouse.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

It built in 1915 by the Pacolet Manufacturing Company to serve the African-American community of Marystown. It is a 1 1/2-story, three room school building in an "L" shape. The school closed in 1954.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Thicketty (also spelled Thickety) is an unincorporated community in Cherokee County, South Carolina, United States. It lies between Gaffney and Cowpens along U.S. Route 29. Thicketty is located approximately 12 miles (19 km) northeast of Spartanburg.

Gaffney Residential Historic District national historic district located at Gaffney, Cherokee County, South Carolina. The district encompasses nine contributing building and 1 contributing structure in Gaffney. The focal point of the district is the historic section of Limestone College campus. The campus includes the nine buildings constructed between about 1837 and 1941. The buildings on the campus are oriented towards a central lawn and fountain. The buildings are classically inspired and include architectural styles such as Gothic Revival and Neoclassical and also a meeting house form church. Also included in the district is a limestone quarry that was mined in the 19th and early-20th century and a mid-19th century church building. The limestone quarry is located adjacent to the historic section of the campus and the Limestone Springs Baptist Church is adjacent to the quarry. Notable buildings include the separately listed Winnie Davis Hall and Limestone Springs Hotel.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Limestone University, formerly Limestone College, is a private Christian university in Gaffney, South Carolina. It was established in 1845 by Thomas Curtis, a distinguished scholar born and educated in England. Limestone was the first women's college in South Carolina and one of the first in the nation; it is the third-oldest college in South Carolina. Ten buildings on the campus, as well as the Limestone Springs and limestone quarry itself, are on the National Register of Historic Places. In the 1960s, Limestone became fully coeducational. In 2020, its name changed from Limestone College to its current name of Limestone University. In addition to its traditional campus in Gaffney, the university provides online degrees and physical locations in Charleston, Columbia, Greenville, and Florence.

Winnie Davis Hall, built in 1904, is an historic redbrick college building on the campus of Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina. It was designed by Darlington native William Augustus Edwards, who designed academic buildings at 12 institutions of higher learning as well as 13 courthouses and numerous other buildings in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. It was named for Varina "Winnie" Anne Davis, the daughter of Jefferson Davis and was built to serve as a repository for American Civil War papers as a center for the study of Southern history. On April 29, 1977, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. It is part of the Limestone Springs Historic District and is also known as the Winnie Davis Hall of History.

The county was formed in 1897 from parts of York, Union, and Spartanburg counties. It was named for the Cherokee people who historically occupied this area prior to European encounter. Cherokee County comprises the Gaffney, SC Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson, SC Combined Statistical Area.
