Hermosa is a closed station on Metra's Milwaukee District/West Line. The station was located at 1800 North Keeler Avenue in the Hermosa neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Hermosa was 5.9 miles (9.5 km) from Union Station, the eastern terminus of the Milwaukee District/West Line. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Hermosa was located in zone B. On December 11, 2006, Hermosa and the nearby Cragin station were closed and replaced by the Grand/Cicero station, which is located between both former stations. Hermosa station was also used by commuter trains of the Milwaukee Road, the predecessor to Metra. Walt Disney's birthplace is located three blocks north of this station on Tripp Avenue. Hermosa was also the first station west of Metra's Pacific Junction (where the MD-W line joins the Milwaukee District/North Line) which is a few feet from the station itself. Pacific Junction contains four tracks (three for Milwaukee District West trains going south to Chicago Union Station and one going north for Canadian Pacific trains.)

Hermosa is one of 77 designated Chicago community areas and is located on the northwest side of Chicago, Illinois. The Hermosa community area contains the Kelvyn Park and Hermosa neighborhoods. The area includes the birthplace of Walt Disney and is the former headquarters of the Schwinn Bicycle Company. While being one of the smaller community areas, Hermosa is one of the city's most densely populated neighborhoods. Today, Hermosa is a predominantly Hispanic blue collar community, with a sizable manufacturing base. Many of the people who reside in Hermosa have done so because of its convenient location to work, its relative proximity to downtown, and because of its healthy public transportation options. The Consulate-General of Honduras in Chicago is located in Hermosa at 4439 West Fullerton Avenue. On December 31, 2018, the Hermosa Bungalow Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Healy is a station on Metra's Milwaukee District North Line in the Hermosa community area of Chicago, Illinois. The station is 6.4 miles (10.3 km) away from Chicago Union Station, the southern terminus of the line. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Healy is in zone B. As of 2018, Healy is the 140th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 323 weekday boardings. It is just south of the factories of Newly Weds Foods. The station is named after the Lyon & Healy Harps, Inc., a world-renowned harp manufacturer founded in Chicago in 1864 by George W. Lyon and Patrick J. Healy. Now headquartered on Ogden Avenue, the company was located near the station at 4014 W. Fullerton Ave. until 1914.Street-side parking is only available on the north side of West Fullerton Avenue just west of where it runs beneath the tracks. A freight spur exists north of the station. On May 8, 2017, Metra broke ground on a major renovation of Healy station, including new platforms, heated shelters, improved access for the disabled, and LED lighting. The makeover will cost $7.3 million and is expected to increase ridership given the station's close proximity to the 606 Trail.As of December 12, 2022, Healy is served by 40 trains (19 inbound, 21 outbound) on weekdays, by all 20 trains (10 in each direction) on Saturdays, and by all 18 trains (nine in each direction) on Sundays and holidays.

The Pyle-National Company Plant is a historic industrial plant at 1334 North Kostner Avenue in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The Pyle-National Company, which produced lights for steam locomotives and other heavy machinery, built the plant in 1916. The company was founded in 1897 by George C. Pyle, an inventor who patented several designs for locomotive headlights, and businessman Royal C. Vilas. The company's products became the first successful electric locomotive headlights, and the success of their and their competitors' lights led Congress to require electric headlights on all locomotives in 1915. Expecting increased business from the Congressional mandate, the company expanded to the Kostner plant, which had three buildings designed by the Chicago industrial architecture firm Davidson & Weiss. The plant served as Pyle-National's only production site until 1963 and was expanded several times in the intervening decades. While Pyle-National opened a new plant in South Carolina in 1963 and pivoted away from the lighting industry, it continued to use its Chicago factory until 1992.The plant was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 19, 2021.

Kelvyn Park High School is a public 4–year high school located in the Hermosa neighborhood on north-west side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Opened in 1933, Kelvyn Park is operated by the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) district. In addition to being a neighborhood high school, Kelvyn Park also serves as a middle school with seventh and eighth grades. Kelvyn Park attendance boundaries extends to the Logan Square, Cragin and Belmont Gardens neighborhoods.

Simons Park is a municipal park located at 1640 N. Drake Avenue in the Humboldt Park community of West Side, Chicago, Illinois. It is administered by the Chicago Park District, and contains full facilities for activities including baseball, boxing, and outdoor basketball. It also contains a full gymnasium, meeting rooms, a children's playground and a spraypool (operated during the summer months).

St. Viator Church is a historic parish church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago located in the Old Irving Park neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois. The church is located at 4170 West Addison Street.

Grand/Cicero is a commuter railroad station in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side of Chicago and is 6.5 miles (10.5 km) away from Chicago Union Station, the eastern terminus of the line. As of 2018, Grand/Cicero is the 199th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 80 weekday boardings. The station is located at the corner of West Grand Avenue and North Cicero Avenue. Service to the station began on December 11, 2006. The station is served by the Milwaukee District West Line. Metra's North Central Service trains use these tracks but do not stop. Grand/Cicero station is closed on weekends, holidays, and after 6:30 P.M. As of December 12, 2022, Grand/Cicero is served as a flag stop by 16 trains (10 inbound, six outbound) on weekdays only. The opening of Grand/Cicero was accompanied by the closure of two other stations, Cragin and Hermosa. These stations were located nearby in residential neighborhoods. The station is also in the vicinity of a section of the Belt Railway of Chicago. Chicago's first Walmart, at 4650 West North Avenue, opened just south of this station in September 2006.

Kosciuszko Park is a park located at 2732 N. Avers Ave. Situated along the northern boundary of Chicago's Logan Square community area at Diversey, it is heavily frequented by residents of Avondale and is considered to be part of Jackowo. Kosciuszko Park was commissioned in 1914 and completed in 1916; the Northwest Park District, one of Chicago's many park districts of the early twentieth century, opened the park as part of its efforts to add neighborhood parks in Northwest Chicago. As the park's original layout and landscape has changed over time, the fieldhouse is the main surviving piece of its original design. Architect Albert Arthur Schwartz began the design of the building; however, he was replaced by Frederick William Bowes halfway through its construction. The two men gave the fieldhouse a Tudor Revival design with a large half-timbered gable. The fieldhouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 16, 2013.Kosciuszko Park is named after Tadeusz Kościuszko, a national hero in Poland, Lithuania, the United States and Belarus. He led the 1794 Kościuszko Uprising against Imperial Russia and the Kingdom of Prussia as Supreme Commander of the National Armed Force (Najwyższy Naczelnik Siły Zbrojnej Narodowej).Kosciuszko Park has long been a community center for Chicago's Northwest Side. The park once housed one of the Chicago Public Library's most frequented branches before it was closed in the 1950s, as well as one of the first two Polish Language Schools in Chicago, Polska Szkoła im. Tadeusza Kościuszki. The Polish School still continues to this day, albeit in a different location as it outgrew the fieldhouse facilities. The park is a few blocks from St. Hyacinth Basilica, the Hairpin Arts Center, as well as the now razed Olson Park and Waterfall.

Kelvyn Park is located at 4438 W. Wrightwood Avenue in the Hermosa neighborhood of North Side, Chicago, Illinois. It is part of the Chicago Park District.Kelvyn Park High School is nearly adjacent to the park in Hermosa.

Olson Park and Waterfall was a heavily visited park and waterfall complex that was located in the Avondale community area of Chicago. It was built by Walter E. Olson, the owner of the Olson Rug Company, next to his factory and headquarters on the northwest corner of Diversey and Pulaski, and was a popular landmark for Chicago families. Built during the Great Depression the park was open to the public until it was closed in 1971 after Marshall Field bought the complex in 1965. The Chicago Tribune named Olson Park as the first of "Chicago's Seven Lost Wonders". The park's opening was famous for the fact that during its opening, the park was symbolically "deeded" back to Native Americans, observing the hundred year anniversary of the expulsion of Indians across the Mississippi River after the Blackhawk War. Today the site is occupied by a parking lot for the former Olson Rug factory and headquarters which is now occupied by the retailer Macy's. The area is near of one of Chicago's "Polish Patches", Jackowo, and the complex was a few blocks from St. Hyacinth Basilica as well as Kosciuszko Park.

On Monday, December 1, 1958, a fire broke out at Our Lady of the Angels School in Chicago, Illinois, shortly before classes were to be dismissed for the day. The fire originated in the basement near the foot of a stairway. The elementary school was operated by the Archdiocese of Chicago and had an enrollment of approximately 1600 students. A total of 92 pupils and 3 nuns ultimately died when smoke, heat, fire, and toxic gases cut off their normal means of egress through corridors and stairways. Many more were injured when they jumped from second-floor windows which, because the building had a raised basement, were nearly as high as a third floor would be on level ground (c. 25 ft.).The disaster was the lead headline story in American, Canadian, and European newspapers. Pope John XXIII sent his condolences from the Vatican in Rome. The severity of the fire shocked the nation and surprised educational administrators of both public and private schools. The disaster led to major improvements in standards for school design and fire safety codes.
