Hopkinton is a town in Merrimack County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 5,914 at the 2020 census. The town has three distinct communities: Hopkinton village, mainly a residential area in the center of the town; Contoocook, the town's business hub, located in the north; and West Hopkinton, within the more agricultural portion of the town. The town is home to the Hopkinton State Fair, adjacent to Contoocook village, and to the historic Contoocook Railroad Depot and the Contoocook Railroad Bridge, the oldest covered railroad bridge in the United States.

The Stanley Tavern is a historic tavern building at 371 Main Street in Hopkinton, New Hampshire, United States. The oldest portion of this Georgian wood-frame structure was built c. 1791 by Theophilus Stanley, to serve as a tavern in the town, which was at the time vying (unsuccessfully, as it turned out) with Concord to be the state capital. It is the only surviving tavern of three that were known to be present in the town in the late 18th and early 19th century. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005, and the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places in 2002.

The William H. Long Memorial is a historic memorial building on Main Street in Hopkinton, New Hampshire. The brick, granite, and sandstone three-story building was constructed in 1890 as a memorial to a member of a prominent local family. The bequest stipulated that the building be used as a home for the local historical society, a function it continues to perform. It was also used to house the local public library. The building was designed by the Boston firm of Means & Gilbert, and is predominantly made of brick. The main entry, centered on the long wall, is recessed under a pilastered entablature topped by a semicircular tablet inscribed with the memorial inscription. Windows on the second floor are framed in ornamented stonework and topped by small oval oculus-like windows.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

New Henniker Bridge or New Bridge was a covered bridge in West Hopkinton, New Hampshire, which carried Henniker Road over the Contoocook River. The truss bridge was completed in 1863, and was the second bridge on the site. The original stone arch bridge was built in 1845 and was washed away by flood in 1852. The bridge was just over 20 feet (6.1 m) wide and 180 feet (55 m) long, and consisted of a single span supported by two triple lattice trusses resting on granite abutments. The patent drawings show an all-timber truss with fixed intersection angles in the center of the span. At the ends of the span the angles of the diagonals vary. The end post is vertical, and each brace further from it is sloped a little more.In 1935 the bridge had sustained damage during a flood and was repaired. The bridge was utilized until 1936 when a steel truss bridge was built adjoining it to the north and ready for traffic. The covered bridge was then destroyed.

Its transmitter is on Watchtower Road in Contoocook and its studios and offices are on Church Street in Concord. WNNH airs an active rock radio format, as part of Binnie Media's "Bone" franchise. The "Bone" branding and format is shared with WHXR (106.3 FM) in Portland, Maine.

West Hopkinton is a populated place within the town of Hopkinton in Merrimack County, New Hampshire, United States. West Hopkinton is well known for its agricultural center, preservation of historical landmarks and recreational activities within the village.

Rowell's Covered Bridge is a covered bridge in West Hopkinton, New Hampshire, which carries Rowell Bridge Road over the Contoocook River. The Long truss bridge was completed in 1853, and is one of New Hampshire's few surviving 19th-century covered bridges. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. It is named for Abram (or Abraham) Rowell, an early resident of the area.

Ames State Forest is in Henniker, New Hampshire. It covers 13 acres (5.3 ha). It was established after Flora Ames, a resident of Henniker, donated about 15 acres to the state for reforestation. Keyser Pond Campground on Keyser Pond and Craney Hill State Forest are nearby.

It is part of School Administrative Unit (SAU) 24, and is administered by the John Stark School District. John Stark Regional is named after General John Stark, who served in the American Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War.

The Contoocook Railroad Depot is located in Hopkinton, New Hampshire, United States, in the village of Contoocook. The depot was completed in 1849 as one of the first substantial railroad passenger stations west of Concord on the Concord and Claremont Railroad. The building is one of the best preserved of a small number of gable-roofed railroad stations surviving from the first decade of rail development in New Hampshire. The station exemplifies the pioneering period of rail development in the state. It is one of the earliest and least altered depots of the 1850 period in New Hampshire. Displaying the Greek Revival style, with modifications that proclaim its identity as a new building type, the depot is an important artifact in the history and evolution of railroad architecture in New Hampshire.

The Contoocook Railroad Bridge is a covered bridge on the former Contoocook Valley (first Concord & Claremont, later Boston & Maine) Railroad line spanning the Contoocook River in the center of the village of Contoocook, New Hampshire, United States. It is referred to in the National Register of Historic Places as the Hopkinton Railroad Covered Bridge, for the town of Hopkinton, New Hampshire, in which the village of Contoocook is located. Built in the 19th century, it is the oldest extant covered railroad bridge in the United States and served rail traffic until 1960. It was used as a warehouse until 1989, then became public property, and has been preserved by the state, donations, and volunteers, in association with the nearby historic railroad depot.

Contoocook is well known for its growth of small businesses, preservation of historical landmarks, community involvement and recreational activities within the village.
