Hawes Water (Silverdale)

Trowbarrow Quarry is a disused limestone quarry near Silverdale, Lancashire, England, which is a geological Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Local Nature Reserve. It is a popular rock climbing area.

Arnside and Silverdale is National Landscape (until November 2023 known as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or AONB) in England, on the border between Lancashire and Cumbria, adjoining Morecambe Bay. One of the smallest National Landscapes, it covers 29 square miles (75 km2) between the Kent Estuary, the River Keer and the A6 road. It was designated in 1972.

Silverdale is a railway station on the Furness Line, which runs between Barrow-in-Furness and Lancaster. The station, situated 9+1⁄2 miles (15 km) north-west of Lancaster, serves the village of Silverdale in Lancashire. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by Northern Trains.

Hazelslack is a hamlet in the South Lakeland district, in the English county of Cumbria. It is near the villages of Arnside and Storth. Nearby Hazelslack Tower is the ruins of a 14th-century building, and is Grade II listed. It has been described as a peel tower and is a Scheduled Monument. As of 2014, English Heritage considered the condition of the privately owned tower to be very bad.Hazelslack also has a camp site.

RSPB Leighton Moss is a nature reserve in Lancashire, England, which has been in the care of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds since 1964. It is situated near Silverdale, Carnforth, on the edge of Morecambe Bay and in the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Leighton Moss contains the largest area of reed bed in north-west England. The site provides habitats for many species of wildlife, including bearded tits, marsh harriers, bitterns, otters and red deer. As a wetland of international importance, it was designated a Ramsar site in 1985. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a Special Protection Area, and an Important Bird Area.The RSPB also protects a large area of Morecambe Bay, where a saltmarsh provides a habitat for birds such as avocets.

Carr Bank is a small hamlet near Arnside, Cumbria, England. It is in the civil parish of Beetham in South Lakeland local government district.

St John's Church is in Emesgate Lane, Silverdale, Lancashire, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Tunstall, the archdeaconry of Lancaster, and the diocese of Blackburn. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. It is notable for the high quality of the stone carving in the interior.

Storth is a village near Arnside in Cumbria, England, situated near the border with Lancashire. It is in the historic county of Westmorland. The village faces the estuary of the River Kent. Although the village is ancient the vast bulk of the homes are from the latter part of the 20th century. There is a village church (Methodist and Anglican, in the Methodist building), and a primary school. The only commercial enterprise in the village is the post office and shop, a locally owned co-operative. Nearby Sandside has some commercial premises and a public house, The Ship Inn. Storth is in the civil parish of Beetham in the South Lakeland local government district.The name Storth is an old Norse name for a woody place.

Slack Head, sometimes written Slackhead, is a hamlet near Beetham, South Lakeland, Cumbria, England. It is in Beetham civil parish. It is a purely residential area, with a postbox as its only facility. It is the location of a small shrine to Saint Lioba (or Leoba) built into a wall. The Fairy Steps, a natural staircase in a limestone crag, lie in woodland to the northwest of the hamlet.

Silverdale is a village and civil parish within the City of Lancaster district of Lancashire, England. The village stands on Morecambe Bay, near the border with Cumbria, 4.5 miles (7 km) north west of Carnforth and 8.5 miles (14 km) of Lancaster. The parish had a population of 1,519 recorded in the 2011 census. Silverdale forms part of the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The RSPB's Leighton Moss nature reserve is close to the village train station. The National Trust owns several pieces of land in the area. The former Tarmac-owned Trowbarrow quarry is now a SSSI and popular climbing location. The Lancashire Coastal Way footpath goes from Silverdale to Freckleton, and the Cumbria Coastal Way goes from Silverdale to Gretna. It is served by nearby Silverdale railway station on the line from Lancaster to Barrow in Furness.

Hazelwood Hall, sometimes spelt Hazlewood, is a nineteenth-century country house set in 18.5 acres of woodland and gardens in the village of Silverdale, Lancashire, England, 8.5 miles (13.7 km) north of Lancaster. The building was converted into holiday flats in 2006.
