Curtis Hixon Hall

Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park is an 8 acres (3.2 ha) public park located along the Hillsborough river in downtown Tampa, Florida that opened in its current configuration in 2010. It is adjacent to the Tampa Riverwalk, Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, Tampa Museum of Art, Glazer Children's Museum, and Rivergate Tower. The park overlooks the University of Tampa's Plant Hall, which is directly across the river. The park is in an area known as the Waterfront Arts District.

The Glazer Children's Museum is a non-profit children's museum located in downtown Tampa, Florida, next to the Tampa Museum of Art and Curtis Hixon Park, alongside the Tampa Riverwalk. It is part of the Waterfront Arts District. Housed in a 53,000-square-foot facility in downtown Tampa, the museum features interactive exhibits in multiple themed areas. Traveling exhibits occasionally supplement the museum's permanent collection as well.

The Rivergate Tower, also known as the Sykes building or the Beer Can Building, is a 454-foot-tall (138 m) skyscraper in Tampa, Florida. With 31 floors, it is the seventh tallest building in Tampa. Rivergate Tower's principal tenant is Sykes Enterprises, a publicly-traded company that operates technical help and customer support centers internationally.

The S. H. Kress and Co. Building is a historic 1928 building in Tampa, Florida, United States. It was part of the S. H. Kress & Co. "five and dime" department store chain. The store closed in 1981, and has since remained vacant. on April 7, 1983, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.Located at 811 N. Franklin Street, the building has a second fronting on Florida Avenue and is in the Renaissance Revival architectural style. G.E. Mackey was the four story building's architect, and it includes masonry, suspended bronze marquee, extensive use of terra-cotta ornamentation (on both of its facades). It was "one of the last major commercial structures built in Tampa before the Great Depression".The Kress building is located between former Woolworth and J.J. Newberry stores, although the block is commonly known as the "Kress block." Lunch-counter sit-ins and protests at the block were held by civil rights activists at the Woolworth store in the 1960s to protest segregated lunch counters in Tampa. Today, there is a historical marker commemorating the movement.

The Straz Center for the Performing Arts is a performing arts venue in Tampa, Florida, United States. It opened in 1987 as the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, and was renamed in 2009.The Straz Center is located downtown on a 9-acre (36,000 m2) site along the east bank of the Hillsborough River. As the second largest performing arts complex in the Southeastern United States (behind the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts), the 335,000-square-foot (31,100 m2) venue provides an environment for a variety of events. It has a leading Broadway series and produces grand opera, as well as presenting a variety of concerts, performances and events. The center estimates that it has a statewide economic impact of $100 million annually, generates 100,000 hotel room nights a year, and has 110 full-time and 250 part-time employees. Attendance runs on average 600,000 guests per year.In 2009, the Straz Center officially began a new program entitled the "Broadway Genesis Project," which presents premieres of musicals and plays that might move to Broadway. In 2018 the Straz Center went under an extensive multi-million dollar renovation that included new wood floors on the stages, new cooler LED lighting, and improved dressing rooms for performers. Judith Lisi was the chief executive officer for 30 years through September 2022. Starting October 1st, 2022, The New CEO is Greg Holland.

The Mercantile Bank building is an example of modern architecture located in Tampa, Florida. The building is located at 100 West Kennedy Boulevard and overlooks the Hillsborough River including an unobstructed view of the Tampa Bay Hotel building that is now part of the University of Tampa. In 2012 it was purchased for a planned remodelling to adapt it for use as a boutique hotel. The design is for 120 rooms. It opened as an Aloft Hotel in 2014.

The Tampa Theatre is a historic U.S. theater and city landmark in Downtown Tampa, Florida. Designed as an atmospheric theatre-style movie palace by architect John Eberson, it opened on October 15, 1926. The theatre features a wide range of independent, foreign, and documentary films. It is Tampa's only non-profit movie palace, and operating costs are supported by its members, donors, and corporate sponsors, as well as by ticket and concessions sales. It has often been used as a backdrop for movies, music videos, and local programming.

Jobsite Theater is an American professional theater company incorporated in 1999 and located in Tampa, Florida, United States. They are the resident theater company of the Straz Center for the Performing Arts (formerly Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center). Co-founder David M. Jenkins serves as Producing Artistic Director.

On January 5, 2002, Charles J. Bishop, a high-school student of East Lake High School in Tarpon Springs, Florida, United States, stole a Cessna 172 light aircraft and crashed it into the side of the Bank of America Tower in downtown Tampa, Florida. The impact killed the teenager and damaged an office room, but there were no other injuries. Bishop had been inspired by the September 11 attacks; he had left a suicide note crediting Osama bin Laden for the attacks and praising it as a justified response to actions against the Palestinians and Iraqis and said he (Bishop) was acting on behalf of Al Qaeda, from whom he had turned down help. As officials could find no other evidence of any connections, terrorism as a motive was ruled out, and they suggested that the crash was an apparent suicide. Bishop's mother filed, then dropped, a lawsuit claiming that psychological side effects from isotretinoin, an acne medicine Bishop took, which can include depression and rarely suicidal actions, caused the incident.

The Franklin Exchange Building is a 280 ft (85m) high rise in Tampa, Florida. It was completed in 1966 and has 22 floors. At the time of its completion, it was the tallest building in Tampa. It is now the 14th tallest. It is at 655 North Franklin Street. It was renovated in 2013. The complex includes the tower, annex, and vault.The Franklin Exchange Building is also notable in the history of the Wikimedia Foundation; it was the site of the first WMF colocation facility.

The Bank of America Plaza is a 42-story skyscraper located in Downtown Tampa, in the U.S. state of Florida, and was completed in 1986. At 175.87 m (577.0 ft), it surpassed One Tampa City Center as the tallest building in Tampa, until completion of 100 North Tampa in 1992. The structure was originally known as Barnett Plaza. The structure contains around 20,000 square feet (1,900 m2) of rentable space per typical floor with a total of 783,930 square feet (72,829 m2) of rentable space.
