Stoke Poges

Stoke Hundred is a hundred in Buckinghamshire, England. It is situated in the south of the county and is bounded on the east by Middlesex and on the south by Berkshire.

Fulmer Research Institute was founded in 1945 as a UK contract research and development organization specializing in materials technology and related areas of physics and chemistry. It was modelled on American contract research companies such as Battelle Memorial Institute and The Mellon Institute of Industrial Research. In 1965 it was acquired by The Institute of Physics and the Physical Society, a rare case of a contract research company being owned by a Learned Society. Through the 1970s and 80s Fulmer evolved. Its services in testing, consultancy and certification were greatly strengthened while academic research declined. It continued to make important developments and innovations for industry and government until in 1990 it was split up and sold to other R & D and testing organizations. A few of the landmark achievements during its forty five years were: The extraction of aluminium using sub-halide sublimation Aluminium-tin and aluminium-lead alloys for plain-bearings Chemical Vapour Deposition of metals and ceramics to produce coatings, tubes, crucibles etc. Fundamental research into aluminium copper alloys, leading to high strength formulations for the skin of high performance aircraft YQAF, a subsidiary company authorised to assess and accredit organizations to quality standards.

Stoke and Wexham War Memorial is located in Wexham Street, Wexham, Buckinghamshire, England. It is a grade II listed building with Historic England and commemorates the men of the area who died in the First World War. It is in the form of a pavilion housing a pump that supplies a drinking fountain and horse trough. It was erected by Sir Bernard Oppenheimer (1866-1921).

St Giles' Church is an active parish church in the village of Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire, England. A Grade I listed building, it stands in the grounds of Stoke Park, a late-Georgian mansion built by John Penn. It is famous as the apparent inspiration for Thomas Gray's poem Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard; Gray is buried in the churchyard.

Wexham Park Hospital is a large NHS hospital in Slough, Berkshire. It has been managed by Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust since 2014. Sir Andrew Morris is the Trust's chief executive.

The Stoke Poges Memorial Gardens are memorial gardens in Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire, England. The gardens are listed Grade I on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens. The gardens are adjacent to the Church of St Giles, Stoke Poges. The Memorial Gardens were founded in 1935 by Sir Noel Mobbs to ensure "the maintenance in perpetuity of the peace, quietness and beauty of the ancient church and churchyard". The gardens were landscaped by Edward White and contain a number of private plots for the interment of ashes, within a larger, Grade I listed park. The ashes of the film director Alexander Korda, aviation pioneer John Moore-Brabazon, 1st Baron Brabazon of Tara and the broadcaster Kenneth Horne, among others, are interred in the garden.

Wexham is a civil parish in the county of Buckinghamshire in southern England. It is on the boundary of the unitary authority of Slough, its post town. Wexham Park Hospital is a large hospital on the parish border and Burnham Beeches, a forest takes in small parts of its northern land.

Teikyo School United Kingdom (帝京ロンドン学園高等部, Teikyō Rondon Gakuen Kōtōbu, "Teikyo London Academy High School Division") is a Japanese international school in Wexham, Buckinghamshire, 20 miles to the west of London. It educates 59 students aged between 15 and 18 years. It is affiliated with Teikyo University, and the Japanese government classifies the school as a Shiritsu zaigai kyoiku shisetsu (私立在外教育施設) or an overseas branch of a Japanese private school.

Stoke Park is a private sporting and leisure estate in Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire. The mansion building (designed by James Wyatt in 1788) is located in the middle of 300 acres (1.2 km2) of parkland, lakes, gardens and monuments. In 1908, it became the first country club in the UK. In 2013, it was awarded five red AA stars, the highest accolade for service and facilities for hotels, by The Automobile Association.Stoke Park has served as the filming location for several major films, including James Bond's Goldfinger and Tomorrow Never Dies, Bridget Jones's Diary and Layer Cake. It also hosts the annual Boodles Tennis Championships as a warm-up to Wimbledon, a week prior to the Championships. In June 2014, Stoke Park hosted an outdoor charity concert for SportsAid (patron: the Princess of Wales). Sir Elton John sang to 5,000 people and raised £825,000. On August 2, 2021, the venue closed for refurbishment followed by the golf course on October 18, 2021. It is expected to reopen in summer 2023.

Lynch Hill Enterprise Academy (LHEA) is a secondary school with academy status which opened in September 2014. The school is located in Slough, in the English county of Berkshire. The school is non-selective and has an intake of 180 students per year at key stages 3 and 4. The curriculum and learning opportunities at LHEA allow students to combine academic and vocational learning in purpose-built facilities.
