Pensford Viaduct

St Thomas à Becket Church in Pensford, Somerset southwest England, dates from the 14th century, active in 1341, although only the tower remains from that date, the rest of the church having been rebuilt in 1868 by Giles and Robinson Architects and the church was reconsecrated in 1869.The church became derelict as a result of flood damage caused by the River Chew in 1968. It remained in disuse until 2008. The west tower and tierceron vault date from the 14th century. The west doorway with a two-centred arch, dates back to the 15th century, and the font which has quatrefoils and roses, is of similar age. The rest of the church was rebuilt in 1869, by Charles Edmund Giles of Taunton.It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building, and was on the English Heritage Buildings at Risk Register, following damage in a flood in 1968. The church was declared redundant on 30 July 1971, and the tower is in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.During the 1980s an attempt was made to turn it into an arts centre but this was abandoned when the extent of the repairs required to make the building safe became clear. In 2007 the church was put on the market for redevelopment, and in 2008 purchased for repair and use as a private dwelling. The conversion was recorded for a documentary as the first episode of the BBC television programme Restoration Home, which also explored the history of the church.

Pensford railway station served the village of Pensford, Somerset, England from 1873 to 1964 on the Bristol and North Somerset Railway.

Pensford is the largest village in the civil parish of Publow in Somerset, England. It lies in the Chew Valley, approximately 7 miles (11 km) south of Bristol, 8 miles (13 km) west of Bath, and 14 miles (23 km) north of Wells. It is on the A37 road from Bristol to Shepton Mallet. Pensford was identified as being of special architectural and historic interest and was designated as a Conservation Area in May 1988.

The Chew Valley Brewery is a microbrewery based in Pensford, Somerset, England. The brewery was opened in 2014 by Dom Lowe and Matt Stalker, after training at Masters Brewery in Wellington. The company logo uses an illustration of the Pensford Viaduct. First sales of their Pagan bitter were at the Stoke Inn in Chew Stoke, and are now available at several pubs in the Chew Valley including The Stoke Inn Chew Stoke, Druids Arms Stanton Drew, Rising Sun and George & Dragon in Pensford and The Old Bank in Keynsham. Currently two beers are brewed: Pagan (3.9% abv) brewed with Maris Otter barley and hopped with Fuggles and Golding hops. The pump clips show a tree on Pagan's Hill, Chew Stoke close to the site of the Pagans Hill Roman Temple. Druid (4.4% abv). The pump clips depict the Stanton Drew stone circles.

Belluton is a village in Somerset, England. It is in the district of Bath and North East Somerset and is located due south of the city of Bristol and due west of the city of Bath. The eastern end of the village is defined by the A37 road. In some documents it is alternatively called "Belton", which signifies, according to some antiquaries, "Baal town," or "the Town of the Sun". According to Robinson it was called Belgetona in the 1086 Domesday Book, and the name comes from the Old English belgae and tun, the Belgae being a violent race who settled in what is now Wiltshire.It is close to the route of the ancient Wansdyke.

The Church of All Saints in Publow, Somerset, England, dates from the 14th century has a 15th-century tower with gargoyles. The pulpit is Jacobean. It has been designated a Grade I listed building.The church consists of a west tower, nave, north aisle and porch, south aisle and porch, and chancel. The west tower, which was built around 1467, has four stages with set back buttresses terminating in diagonally set pinnacles at the bell chamber stage. One of the bells is engraved with the arms of Sir Francis Popham.The nave has a clerestorey of four 2-light trefoil-headed windows. The east end of the chancel has an early Perpendicular (restored) 3-light window with reticulated tracery. The pulpit dates from the early 17th century and is made of oak with carved, arcaded panels to the upper part and rosettes on the lower part.Major reconstruction was undertaken around the 1890s to plans developed by Arthur Blomfield at a cost of £1,400.The register dates from 1569.

Publow is a small village and civil parish in Bath and North East Somerset, England. It lies beside the River Chew in the Chew Valley. It is 7 miles from Bristol, 9 miles from Bath, and 4 miles from Keynsham. The principal settlement in the parish is Pensford. The parish also includes the village of Belluton and part of the village of Woollard. At the 2011 census it had a population of 1,119.

Woollard is a small village on the River Chew in the affluent Chew Valley in England. It is in the Bath and North East Somerset council area and the ceremonial county of Somerset. The village is 7 miles (11 km) from Bristol, 9 miles (14 km) from Bath, and 4 miles (6.4 km) from Keynsham. The special architectural and historic interest of Woollard was recognised by its designation as a Conservation Area on 25 July 1990.

The Anglican Holy Trinity Church in Norton Malreward, Somerset, England dates from the late 12th century. It has been designated as a Grade II listed building.The archway between the nave and chancel and the font remain from the original Norman church, however much of the rest of the building has been revised and expanded over the centuries. The 40 feet (12 m) two stage west tower was added in the 15th century with diagonal buttresses to the lower stage and rebuilt, along with much of the church, around 1860 by James Wilson of Bath. It is surmounted by battlements and pinnacles.The church is within a joint benefice with the Church of St Andrew, Chew Magna and the Church of St Michael, Dundry.

The Stanton Drew stone circles are just outside the village of Stanton Drew in the English county of Somerset. The largest stone circle is the Great Circle, 113 metres (371 ft) in diameter and the second largest stone circle in Britain (after Avebury); it is considered to be one of the largest Neolithic monuments to have been built. The date of construction is not known, but is thought to be between 3000 and 2000 BCE, which places it in the Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age. It was made a scheduled monument in 1982.The Great Circle was surrounded by a ditch and is accompanied by smaller stone circles to the northeast and southwest. There is also a group of three stones, known as The Cove, in the garden of the local pub. Slightly further from the Great Circle is a single stone, known as Hautville's Quoit. Some of the stones are still vertical, but the majority are now recumbent, and some are no longer present. The stone circles have been studied since John Aubrey's visit in 1664, and some excavations of the site were performed in the 18th century. In the late 20th and early 21st centuries, geophysical surveys have confirmed the size of the stone circles and identified additional pits and postholes. The Cove has been shown to be around 1000 years older than the stone circles, and so date from 4000-3000 BCE. A variety of myths and legends about the stone circles have been recorded, including one about dancers at a celebration who have been turned to stone.

Hengrove Athletic Football Club is a football club based in the Bristol suburb of Hengrove. Affiliated to the Somerset County FA, they are currently members of the Western League Division One and play at Norton Lane in Whitchurch.

Lord's Wood is a woodland southeast of the village of Pensford in the Chew Valley, south of Bristol, England. The wood largely consists of planted conifers, however some broad-leaved areas remain.A number of small streams flow northward through the wood, converging and then eventually meeting the River Chew to the north. There is a well-vegetated pond near the centre of the wood. Hunstrete Lake lies just to the southeast of the wood.
