RAAF Base Rathmines

The Rathmines is a suburb of the City of Lake Macquarie in New South Wales, Australia on the western shore of Lake Macquarie between the towns of Toronto and Morisset. The Aboriginal people, in this area, the Awabakal, were the first people of this land.Rathmines was first settled by Europeans at around 1840. It was named after the town of Rathmines in Ireland. Orchards, vineyards and cattle were the early industries. The first school opened in 1941. A RAAF base operated in Rathmines from 1939 to 1963. The artist Sir William Dobell was at one time responsible for the camouflage of the base. Rathmines is home to many sporting teams, most notably Westlakes Wildcats FC who play out of Rathmines Oval. Rathmines is home to Lake Macquarie's first disc golf course, located in park lands at Styles Point.

Kilaben Bay is a suburb of the city of Lake Macquarie in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. The Aboriginal people, in this area, the Awabakal, were the first people of this land. It is named for the bay of the same name that lies to the south of the suburb. The suburb's western boundary is heavily forested. Kilaben Bay is one of many suburbs that ring Lake Macquarie, Lake Munmorah, and Tuggerah Lake. Kilaben Bay is part of the West Ward of the City of Lake Macquarie local government area. For telephone call charges, Kilaben Bay is within the local call zone of the City of Newcastle.

Carey Bay is a suburb of the City of Lake Macquarie in New South Wales, Australia, and is located on a peninsula southeast of the town of Toronto on the western side of Lake Macquarie. The spelling "Cary Bay" was gazetted on 31 August 1973, but was gazetted and signed "Carey Bay" on 31 May 1991 when the boundaries were determined. In 2001, the Lake Macquarie City Council voted to use the latter name for the suburb. Carey Bay was named after William Cary of the Excelsior Land Investment and Building Company and Bank Limited. Excelsior Land was an early property developer of the Toronto district in Lake Macquarie releasing subdivisions from 1887. William Cary was a director of the company for twelve years from 1880. Originally named "Cary Bay" and describing only a geographical feature of the coastline of Lake Macquarie, the growth of the area lead to the creation of the suburb of the same name with a change of spelling to "Carey Bay", gazetted as such in 1991. Dewey Point is located at the north-eastern corner of Carey Bay and forms the boundary between the Suburbs of Carey Bay and Toronto

Arcadia Vale is a suburb of the City of Lake Macquarie in New South Wales, Australia between the town centres of Toronto and Morisset on the western shore of Lake Macquarie. It had a population of 1,381 down from 1,518 in 2006.

Ebenezer Colliery was a coal mine located at Coal Point, New South Wales, Australia. Reverend Lancelot Edward Threlkeld began mining at the south west point of Coal Point near Toronto in 1840, after the failure of his aboriginal mission. The mine was worked by hand and the skips run on wooden rails. The coal was loaded into vessels from a large wooden jetty. Due to the shallow channel at Swansea the coal was taken to a coal loading and storage depot at the head of Lake Macquarie, known as Reid's Mistake, where it was loaded upon oceangoing vessels. Threlkeld's mine pre-dated the Australian Agricultural Company (AA Co) monopoly on coal mining, however Threlkeld found it difficult to attract miners, to compete against the AA Co monopoly and the Governor of New South Wales George Gipps refused to supply convicts. Threlkeld's estate was sold at auction to the mortgagee in 1844 to repay outstanding debts. The mine was worked further under lease by Henry R. Whittell and later by Ralph M. Robey, although it was often not worked. It was worked as South Hetton Colliery as late as 1906. The South Hetton Colliery was advertising coal for sale with delivery at Sydney, Newcastle "or at our own wharves at Lake Macquarie" as late as the end of April 1910.

It is one of the major centres in the City of Lake Macquarie LGA.

Toronto railway station is a former railway station located in the Lake Macquarie suburb of Toronto, the terminus of the former Fassifern - Toronto branch line in New South Wales, Australia. The station opened in c. 1891 as a private tourist tramway and was subsequently acquired by the NSW Government Railways in 1910. The station closed on 11 March 1990. The line and station is still largely intact. The station building is an example of heritage re-use, now in use by the Lake Macquarie and District Historical Society.

Toronto Awaba Football Club are an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in Toronto, Newcastle, Australia. The club are currently playing in the fourth tier of Australian soccer, the Northern New South Wales NewFM Football League. The team was relegated from the NBN State Football League at the end of the 2010 season.
